The research is linked to line 2: Public Policies and Regional Development and presents original characteristics, since the scarcity of historiographic research in the field of early childhood education in the Amazon continues to be a reality. The social and cultural history is the research, whose theme is the period from 1940 to 1996. For this, we identified the relations between PIs and the Amazon as influences of the local, national and world scenarios. Through documentary research, around 2,786 documents were handled, from which 178 were selected, the tools for the study. In 1940, the mayor Antônio Botelho Maia created the Municipal Service of Children's Parks in Manaus and started the construction of the first Children's Park: Parque 10 de Novembro, inaugurated in 1943, then was inaugurated the Parque Infantil Ribeiro Júnior, in 1944. These parks have some characteristics were launched in conjunction with its purposes: to offer recreation to the child through sports / recreation activities (without graduation), with its initial proposal of social service, through the work developed by Judge André Araújo in the Juvenile Court of the Capital. In the decades, later the configurations of these spaces were being transformed, denominating Infantile Parks the apparatuses mounted in squares in the capital and in the interior, by the municipal and state administrators, located next to schools or churches. There was also a third version for the "Children's Park", an internship event for offenders and "devalued" poor children, where, in addition to the playground, school events were held. With this, consider a possibility of work for the studies on the education of children, in local and national scopes. / O objetivo deste estudo é compreender os aspectos históricos dos Parques Infantis (PIs) no Estado do Amazonas. A pesquisa é vinculada à linha 2: Políticas Públicas e Desenvolvimento Regional e apresenta caráter original, uma vez que a escassez de pesquisas historiográficas no campo da educação infantil no Amazonas ainda é uma realidade. A história social e cultural fundamenta esta pesquisa, que corresponde ao período de 1940 a 1996. Para isto, identificou-se as relações entre a existência de PIs no Amazonas com as influências dos cenários local, nacional e mundial. Por meio da pesquisa documental, foram manuseados em torno de 2.786 documentos, de onde foram selecionados 178, utilizados como fontes para o estudo. Em 1940 o prefeito Antônio Botelho Maia cria em Manaus o Serviço Municipal de Parques Infantis e inicia a construção do primeiro Parque Infantil: o Parque 10 de novembro, inaugurado em 1943, em seguida inaugura-se o Parque Infantil Ribeiro Júnior, em 1944. Estes Parques apresentam algumas características iniciais em comum quanto às suas finalidades: oferecer lazer à criança pobre por meio de atividades desportivas/ recreativas (não formais), cuja proposta inicial foi a de atendimento social, por meio do trabalho desenvolvido pelo Juiz André Araújo no Juizado de Menores da Capital. Nas décadas, posteriores as configurações destes espaços foram se transformando, denominando-se Parques Infantis os aparelhos montados em praças na capital e no interior, pelos administradores municipais e estaduais, localizados próximos a escolas ou igrejas. Existiu ainda uma terceira versão para “Parque Infantil”, a de aparelhos inaugurados em internatos para menores infratores e crianças pobres “desvalidas”, onde, além do recreio, eram realizados os eventos escolares. Com isto, considera-se a possibilidade de contribuição do trabalho para os estudos sobre a educação infantil, em âmbitos local e nacional.
