A presente dissertação de mestrado investiga quais foram as alterações na Estrutura Urbana, na área urbana do município de Terra de Areia/RS, após a construção da passagem elevada da duplicação da BR-101. Apoiados nos conceitos de Estrutura Urbana, Escala e Espaço urbano, a pesquisa investiga a hipótese de que, empreendimentos rodoviários em escala regional não dão o devido tratamento aos espaços urbanos em escala local. Adotamos como método a pesquisa qualitativa, associando a pesquisa documental, entrevistas abertas e Sintaxe Espacial para alcançar os objetivos propostos. Ainda, com a finalidade de melhor compreensão do fenômeno, verificamos também os documentos normativos e o Plano Diretor Municipal. O resultado obtido afirma a hipótese da pesquisa, e ainda, sugere que há impactos ao espaço urbano que não estão sendo mencionados nas normas, abrindo a possibilidade para novas pesquisas. / This master thesis investigates what were the alterations in the Urban Structure in the city of Terra de Areia, in the brazilian southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, after the construction of an overpass in the process of duplication of the road BR-101. Based on the concepts of Urban Structure, Scale and Urban Space, this study investigates the hypothesis that highway projects on a regional scale do not give proper treatment to urban spaces at the local level. In order to conduct this study, the qualitative method was adopted in associated with documentary research, open interviews and Space Syntax to achieve the objectives set. Moreover, in order to understand better this phenomenon, the normative documents and the City Master Plan were verified. The result obtained confirms the hypothesis of the research and also suggests that there are impacts on urban space that are not being mentioned in the rules, opening up the possibility for further research.
