Utilizamos uma abordagem interdisciplinar que leva em consideração não só as marcas textuais, mas também as influências do contexto histórico em que foram produzidas as críticas, especificamente a Bahia das décadas de 1950 e 60. Os percursos teórico-metodológicos perpassam pelos estudos de recepção, com base nas ideias de Janet Staiger, nas proposições do jornalismo cultural e nas questões de interpretação da obra fílmica, como forma de traçar os caminhos de investigação da obra crítica de Walter da Silveira. Diante de uma fortuna crítica deixada pelo autor, encontramos uma série de recorrências e marcas estilísticas que nos permitem identificar os traços, preferências e escolhas analíticas que marcam o trabalho crítico dele. Sua grade de leitura dos filmes passa pela crença na função pedagógica da crítica, no destaque dado à relação entre forma e conteúdo, na valorização do autor cinematográfico, no incentivo ao cinema nacional, na divulgação da obra de grandes cineastas reconhecidos e no engajamento em torno da experiência cinéfila. Tudo isso sem deixar de lado a veia incisiva que suas críticas assumem como discurso analítico. / With a focus on analysis of film criticism, this work is devoted to study the written production by the recognized author from Bahia Walter da Silveira. We use an interdisciplinary approach that takes into account not only the textual marks, but also the influences of the historical context in which the critics were produced, specifically in Bahia during the 1950s and 60s. The theoretical and methodological pathways underlie the reception studies, based on the ideas of Janet Staiger, the propositions of cultural journalism and the issues of interpretation of the film, as a way to trace the paths of research of the critical work of Walter da Silveira. Facing the critic fortune let by the author, we found a number of recurrences and stylistic marks that allow us to identify the analytical traits, preferences and choices, marking the critical work of Silveira. His films‟ reading grill permeates by the belief in the pedagogical function of the criticism, by the prominence given to the relationship between form and content, by the author's cinematic appreciation, by the encouragement to national cinema, by the publicizing of the work of great filmmakers recognized and by the engagement around the cinephile experience. All this without forgetting the incisive vein that his criticisms assume as analytical discourse.
