A vasta região era apenas conhecida por mapas, por vezes imprecisos, e pelos relatos dos exploradores que a visitavam. As poucas iniciativas de incursão às terras austrais do continente americano eram limitadas pela presença de inúmeras sociedades indígenas, que resistiam à aculturação pretendida. Somente na segunda metade do século XIX, as ações contra os povos originários foram intensificados, convergindo para a inclusão da região ao mapa argentino. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The construction of the Argentinean Patagonia in the legal and political state, as well as its integration process in the country, was analyzes within this Master’s theses. The vast region was only known by maps, sometimes imprecise, and by the explorers’ reports that has visited Patagonian land. The few initiatives raid the land of Southern Hemisphere, were limited by the presence of many indigenous societies, which resisted in opposition to acculturation desires by the settler. Only in the second half of nineteenth century, the actions against the indigenous people have been intensified, converging in the achievement of this region to Argentina’s map.
