Previous issue date: 2016-11-25 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) / A percepção sobre saúde varia conforme a cultura, crenças, costumes e meio no qual o indivíduo vive. Os objetivos do trabalho foram analisar a percepção dos pais em relação ao impacto de doenças bucais na qualidade de vida dos filhos e avaliar o impacto das doenças bucais de adolescentes na rotina familiar, em diferentes classes socioeconômicas. Participaram desta pesquisa todos os alunos de 11 a 14 anos, regularmente matriculados no ensino fundamental das escolas públicas e seus pais ou responsáveis, de dois municípios do noroeste paulista, Brasil. Aplicou-se junto ao chefe da família, o questionário “Instrumental de Avaliação Socioeconômica”, a fim de classificar as famílias quanto à classe socioeconômica, o “Parental-Caregiver Perceptions Questionnaire (P-CPQ)”, para verificar a percepção dos pais sobre o impacto das doenças bucais na qualidade de vida do filho e a Escala de Impacto Familiar – FIS (Family Impact Scale), para avaliar o impacto das doenças bucais e orofaciais de adolescentes na rotina familiar. Do total, 172 pais (41,8%) responderam a pesquisa. Desses, a maioria pertencia a Classe Baixa Superior (61%). Em relação à percepção dos pais sobre o impacto das doenças bucais na qualidade de vida dos filhos, 21,5% dos indivíduos afirmaram que consideravam como “regular ou ruim” a saúde bucal do filho e 71,5% disseram que o bem-estar geral do filho era nada ou pouco afetado pela condição de seus dentes, lábios, maxilares ou boca. Houve associação entre subescalas da qualidade de vida, em especial “sintomas bucais”, com todas as classes socioeconômicas. Em relação ao impacto das doenças bucais na rotina familiar, observou-se relação significativa da subescala “atividade dos pais/família”, “emoções familiares” e “conflito familiar”, entre as classes Baixa Inferior x Média, Baixa Superior x Média Inferior e Baixa Superior x Média; já na subescala “encargos financeiros”, houve relação entre as classes Baixa Superior x Média. Concluímos que existe relação entre a percepção dos pais sobre o impacto das doenças bucais na qualidade de vida dos filhos e a classe socioeconômica. As doenças bucais dos adolescentes apresentam impacto sobre a rotina familiar, nas diferentes classes socioeconômicas. / The perception about health varies according to the culture, beliefs, customs and environment in which the individual lives. The objectives of this study were to analyze the parents' perception regarding the impact of oral diseases on children's quality of life and to evaluate the impact of oral diseases of adolescents in the family routine in different socioeconomic classes. All 11 to 14 year old students, enrolled in elementary school and their parents or guardians, from two municipalities in the northwest of São Paulo, Brazil, participated in this study. The questionnaire "Socioeconomic Evaluation Toolkit" was applied to the head of the family, in order to classify the families as to the socioeconomic class, the "Parental Caregiver Perceptions Questionnaire (P-CPQ)", to verify the parents' perception of The impact of oral diseases on the child's quality of life and the Family Impact Scale (FIS), to evaluate the impact of oral and orofacial diseases of adolescents on the family routine.
