Silva, Carlos Alberto Silva da January 2016 (has links)
The object of this research is Clementina de Jesus’s song and ancestry, seen here as both aesthetic and political resistance within cultural industry. The analysis departs from theoretical and critical framework, provided by Cultural Studies, in particular the studies on both black culture and ancestry. This perspective helps place Clementina de Jesus within the Brazilian popular music scene as a memory of Africanity of slavery times, thus reaching both entertainment and music industry as the past within the present, the old within the new, tradition within modernity. In order to bridge this temporal passage, the researcher has resorted to cultural theorists, who are able to provide theoretical foundation to black diaspora and, consequently, to black culture, with a look at the Afro-Brazilian subject. Addressing Africanity, anteriority and religiosity of African descent means dealing with African mythology, which includes the Orishas, the myths, the magic and the spell. Clementina de Jesus emerges in the world of cultural industry supported by a part of the black song and music marked by the colonizing, slaving and classist processes of the Brazilian History. Therefore, the thesis prints on Clementina de Jesus the resistance to the erasure of History, which has, strategically, created a musical black brand among other cultures. Ancestry may be understood as a category of relationship, link, inclusion, diversity, unity and spell (Oliveira, 2007). Such na idea helps us understand that Clementina de Jesus worked, and still works, as political weapon in the defense of black culture. In a way, his ancestral son was not reduced to bringing to the scene the orality of the ‘Senzala’ times, which had been left aside at the risk of being forgotten. She has also served as a political strategy of insertion within cultural industry. / Submitted by Carolini da Rocha (carolini.rocha@unisul.br) on 2017-06-30T13:44:13Z No. of bitstreams: 3 license_rdf: 811 bytes, checksum: e39d27027a6cc9cb039ad269a5db8e34 (MD5) Tese - finalI.pdf: 1665521 bytes, checksum: d33c3ec02bfd242e76d5c8f1e5351cca (MD5) Carlos_Alberto_Silva_da_Silva.jpg: 2247154 bytes, checksum: 33c090005f5936e77d3dc4d4f3889b8e (MD5) / Approved for entry into archive by Carolini da Rocha (carolini.rocha@unisul.br) on 2017-06-30T13:45:14Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 3 license_rdf: 811 bytes, checksum: e39d27027a6cc9cb039ad269a5db8e34 (MD5) Tese - finalI.pdf: 1665521 bytes, checksum: d33c3ec02bfd242e76d5c8f1e5351cca (MD5) Carlos_Alberto_Silva_da_Silva.jpg: 2247154 bytes, checksum: 33c090005f5936e77d3dc4d4f3889b8e (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-06-30T13:45:14Z (GMT).

Ibáñez González, Victoria 10 February 2012 (has links)
Crafting Clementina: Using Material Culture to Interpret the Contributions of 18th-century American Craftswomen in Scholarship and at Public History Sites

Applebaum, Micaela 20 September 2024 (has links)
Master of Arts / This thesis suggests how studying material culture can yield important insight into the lives of 18th-century craftswomen in scholarship and at public history sites, where they have historically been minimally interpreted. Objects and their physical features reveal important insights that go beyond existing written records, especially for populations that have been excluded from or misrepresented in historical records. This research utilizes The Virginia Gazette, a newspaper produced by Clementina Rind before the Revolutionary War, to show her involvement in early American discussions and events. It also addresses how material culture can be used to teach visitors about the 18th-century women who labored in other non-domestic trades, including blacksmiths, bookbinders, silversmiths, and carpenters. Applying these methods can help scholars and public history audiences think more critically about diverse perspectives within and contributions to early American history.

Étude des propriétés nutrition-santé d’un concentré d’agrume enrichi en hespéridine et β-cryptoxanthine : bioaccessibilité des caroténoïdes et effets santé impliqués dans la prévention du diabète de type 2 / Study of the nutrition-health properties of a citrus concentrate enriched in hesperidin/β-cryptoxanthin : bioaccessibility of carotenoids and health effects involved in the prevention of type 2 diabetes

Gence, Laura 20 March 2019 (has links)
Citrus fruits, which are widely consumed worldwide, represent sources of carotenoids such as βCX, which contribute with flavonoids (HES) to the health effects of these fruits, particularly in the prevention of type 2 diabetes (T2D). T2D is a worldwide pathology that is growing exponentially. The general objective of this work is therefore to study the nutritional and health properties of clementine juice concentrates obtained by innovative membrane technology and specifically enriched in both βCX and HES but also in pectins. The digestive behaviour of these phytomicronutrients, guarantors of the nutritional quality of the concentrates, was first assessed by coupling the in vitro digestion model with the Caco-2 intestinal cells. For a better physiological vision of the mechanisms associated with the first stages of digestion, models of static and dynamic digestion are compared. The bioavailability and intestinal absorption of carotenoids are strongly influenced by the content and structure of pectins. In a second step, the biological activities (disglycemia, dislipidemia, inflammation) involved in the prevention of T2D are evaluated in vivo in rat after administration of the citrus concentrate. The study demonstrated that a citrus food specifically enriched in βCX and HES is effective in preventing metabolic syndrome/T2D, highlighting the possible role of βCX and its retinoid bioconversion. A complementary in vitro study on murine macrophages reveals synergistic anti-inflammatory effects of the two phytomicronutrients.

Soler Fayos, Guillermo 02 September 2009 (has links)
Soler Fayos, G. NUOVE RICERCHE PER LA BIOGRAFIA E LA PRODUZIONE STORIOGRAFICA DI CARLO BIANCONI (1732-1802)

BINDA, LAURA 22 May 2017 (has links)
New information and analysis about Carlo Bianconi’s biography and writings mainly appear from unpublished archival material bare. This work allows to clarify the education of Bianconi, who grew up in a family of bibliophiles and art collectors. He kept abreast of theoretical development of Winckelmann and Mengs, who personally knew and he gradually moved closer and accepted the models of the classicism that was also mediated by the relationship established with Francesco Algarotti, who is here reevaluate. Regarding his two-year period spent in Rome, the relationship with the Cardinal Albani and moreover his trip to Naples, a glimmer is opened, with important implications for his intellectual maturity. Furthermore, there are: the reason regarding the choice of Bianconi as Secretary of the Academy of Brera, his educational initiatives and the relationship with Carlo di Firmian. From time to time, his many correspondents, his figurative works of art and especially his published writings were commented (for example the guide of Bologna and Milan) and his unpublished writings (such as Vitruvius, theoretical writings on the origin of architecture and engraving, orations) are remembered and also the collaboration with the Enciclopedia Metodica of Pietro Zani is reconsidered. Artist, collector, art writer and teacher, immersed in a climate of a Rationalism, he is a early supporter of the new taste for the classic.
