Considera primeiramente que a defini??o do tipo de estrutura, forma, locais de sustenta??o entre outras carater?sticas construtivas do projeto arquitet?nico deve partir do profissional que cria a arquitetura. Esses aspectos precisam ser observados desde a fase de estudo preliminar uma vez que o sistema estrutural interfere intensamente na configura??o espacial da obra. Do ponto de vista da forma??o profissional, o distanciamento entre ensino de sistemas estruturais e ensino do projeto traz como consequ?ncia a dificuldade de inser??o da estrutura na concep??o arquitet?nica e, ainda, a falta de preparo dos arquitetos para lidarem com a concep??o estrutural na sua vida profissional. A busca pela melhoria da did?tica do ateli? de arquitetura j? ? um tema recorrente no meio acad?mico, no entanto, ainda ? escassa a literatura sobre a concep??o estrutural como um elemento atuante no processo de projeto. Nesse sentido, esta disserta??o tem como objetivo identificar como se d? a concep??o estrutural no processo de aprendizagem de projeto arquitet?nico, com base na an?lise de duas disciplinas dos cursos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) e na Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). Visa tamb?m sugerir melhorias para as propostas metodol?gicas de ensino nas disciplinas avaliadas, a fim de contribuir para o aprimoramento do ensino de arquitetura tendo em vista o desenvolvimento de habilidades e dom?nio da estrutura na forma??o dos arquitetos. Para tanto, foram feitos levantamentos e an?lise da bibliografia inerente aos temas da rela??o entre estrutura e arquitetura e ao ensino/aprendizado do projeto associado ao ensino/aprendizado da estrutura desde as fases iniciais do projeto. Para os casos estudados, foram feitos um breve hist?rico e o aprofundamento das estruturas curriculares atuais. A an?lise das disciplinas de cada universidade foi elaborada com base em dados coletados nos question?rios aplicados, na observa??o em sala de aula e na an?lise de projetos arquitet?nicos dos discentes. Por fim, espera-se que os resultados coletados, a discuss?o e sugest?es delineadas no final do trabalho contribuam para a melhoria do ensino nesse campo. / This research investigates the teaching/learning of structural design in the process of teaching architectural design. It considers the premise according to which the structure type definition (shape, local support, as well as other features) are defined by the architect. These aspects need to be considered since the initial phases of the project, when preliminary studies are made, because the structural system of building heavily interferes in it?s the spatial configuration. Considering the training of professionals, there is a gap between structural systems education and design learning, which difficulties the consideration of the structure on the architectural design and fails to fully prepare the students, who will need to deal with the structural design in their professional life. Improving the way architecture is taught is already a recurring theme in the academic world. However, few studies explore structure conception as an acting element in the designing process. Therefore, this work aims to identify how the structural design happens in the architectural design learning process, based on the analysis of two architectural disciplines in the programs of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). It also aims to suggest enhancements to the methodological proposals for education in the analyzed disciplines in order to contribute to the progress of architecture teaching and to the development of aspiring architects? skills and structural knowledge. First, it presents other studies that deal with the relations between structure and architecture, as well as the way those two are taught and practiced in all stages of design. For each case studied, a brief background was laid, then an in depth analysis of the current curriculum framework was made. The analysis of the discipline in each university was based on data collected by survey, observation in the classroom and student?s projects. Finally, it is expected that the results, discussions and suggestions outlined by the end of this work come to contribute to improve teaching and learning in the field.
