Komparace geografického kurikula španělsky hovořících zemí / Comparison of geographical curriculum of Spanish-speaking countries

Kořanová, Michaela January 2015 (has links)
The present thesis compares geografical education in Argentina, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico and Spain. The main subject is the concept of the geografical education of level ISCED 2, presented in binding curriculum of the foremntioned countries. Content analysis of the curriculum aims to find out whether general geographical education is being unified or not. This thesis seeks to verify or falsify the hypothesis of bases of the elementary general geographical education being consistent in globalised world. This hypothesis is justified by the fact that educational potential of geography (certain basis of maternal discipline) is very similar across the world, as are main educational needs of today's society. Undoubtedly, the needs determine the goals, topics and content structure of geographical education. The structure of the thesis is congruent with the forementioned goals. The first part gives broader background of the subject. The second part is the research, its methodology and results. The concept of geographical education in curriculum was assessed through quantitaive and qualitative content analysis. Quantitative analysis focused on the frequency of key words (indicators of content unification) in educational goals and main topics. If the given indicator had been found to be present in at least...

To this end, it was divided into two parts. The first part considered the characteristics of isometries emphasised in official teaching instruments, such as the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN) and mathematics textbooks. In the PCN, a rupture was identified between the levels of Middle School and High School. In the Middle School parametesr, isometric transformations figure highly, while at the High School level they are not explicity included at all. In relation to the Middle School textbooks analised, isometries were not incorporated in a uniform manner: one collection did not consider the topic, while in the other they were comprehensively covered for all Middle School grades. To analise the activities presented in this second collection, a classification system based on four level of complexity of the conceptual field of Symmetry (Vergnaud, 1997) was developed. This enabled the description of a gradual progression in the appropriation of concepts associated with symmetry. In the High School textbooks, no continuation of this progression was found, as it was difficult to locate activities belonging to the conceptual field of symmetry in either of the collections analised. In the second part of the study, a set of situations was designed for High School students. The results indicated that although the students, all of whom studied at night, had never studied symmetry before, they appropriated with success the idea of axial symmetry as a property of a figure and experienced symmetry as a relationship between two distinct figures. There were also signs that they could have considered symmetry as an object with its own properties / O objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar a inserção das isometrias no currículo de matemática, tanto sob o ponto de vista oficial como da prática.

The thesis was developed in order to identify the elements necessary for an understanding of biological vision about the nature, historical and philosophical perspective. We conducted a theoretical study based on dialectical materialist thought, to identify the key issues underpinning biology, considering its history of construction and look at the philosophy of science about it. There was a documentary survey mainly on secondary sources on the history and philosophy of biology, also in some primary sources. Having performed this step, there was a review of disciplinary content of National Curriculum of Secondary Education (PCNEM) PCNEM + and Curriculum guidelines. The study walked directed by three questions: What are the elements that characterize the biology as such throughout its construction? How these elements are characterized and articulate? Documents of curriculum consider these elements in its formulation? As a result, it brought the history of ideas on living in antiquity to the Middle Ages, it is possibile to identify some of the questions that biology came to look over the following centuries. Then, we seek to emphasize the change in worldview in the modern era who opposed scholasticism and its implications to the science that culminated in the Scientific Revolution. The nineteenth century marks the emergence of biology as a science. At the beginning of the century there were already some branches, but still tied to the philosophy of nature. It consists from there a specific look on nature by considering three main theories: cell theory, theory of internal equilibrium and the theory of natural selection and origin of species. Two central perspectives are structured, a Mechanistic and another Historic, which ... (Complete abstract click electronic access below)

Závorková, Lucie January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on the didactic use of woody plants in teaching at the secondary level of elementary schools and in the corresponding years of grammar schools. The purpose is to appropriately use trees and other woody plants that are close to schools and are available for teaching. The theoretical part deals with basic curricular documents, methods of teaching possibly used in science or biology that have been briefly characterized, and the representation of the topic of woody plants and their method of processing in commonly available textbooks. The following chapter provides a description of the woody plants used in the process of making of the practical materials. The research of the thesis includes a questionnaire survey done among teachers of science or biology at chosen elementary and grammar schools in Pilsen and surrounding towns. The research investigated the teaching methods and the actual use of woody plants in lessons and was evaluated afterwards. Based on the survey, a motivational teaching material was created and it was verified in practice with pupils of a specific grammar school. KEYWORDS curriculum documents, biology textbooks, teaching methods, woody plants, questionnaire research, dendrological walk

The interface between in-service teacher development and classroom teaching and learning in Zimbabwean primary schools

Mufanechiya, Albert 06 1900 (has links)
Primary school teaching and learning, and indeed the whole teaching profession continue to be shaped by the ever – changing knowledge economy and global educational trends. To this end, professional teacher development in Zimbabwean primary schools has become an important focus area in terms of how it can facilitate and contribute to effective teaching and learning in line with the new educational developments. There is consensus among primary school stakeholders that the success of teaching and learning is dependent on promoting an efficient and student - needs driven in – service programme. The purpose of the study was to explore the influence of the university B.Ed (primary) in – service teacher development programme in its mandate to fulfill the critical function to develop primary school teachers with knowledge, skills and competencies for the Zimbabwean primary education system. The imperative has been for the university in – service programme to offer competences and skills that are needed by primary school teachers and for these teachers to upgrade and update their skills for effective teaching and student learning. The theoretical approach that informed the study was Vygotsky’s Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) with its main perspective being that knowledge is socially constructed and takes place in real contexts. The study ontology was interpretivism in which the qualitative single case study design was employed. The data were collected through semi - structured interviews with the Chairperson and five lecturers of the Curriculum Studies Department and focus group discussion in respect of ten B.Ed (primary) in – service student teachers. The participants were purposefully sampled taking into account their knowledge and experience with the in – service programme and primary school teaching - learning contexts. The study found that the B.Ed (primary) in – service programme had minimal influence on primary school teachers’ teaching and learning needs. The programme had not fully addressed the primary school teachers’ expectations in terms of imparting knowledge and skills useful for classroom teaching and learning. One of the major contributory factors was that there were curriculum design frailties of the programme which were as a result of lack of dialogue, engagement and consultation between and among important primary school education stakeholders especially in – service teachers. As a result, the programme had not adequately raised the teachers’ knowledge and skills in the critical areas of their practice, yet this was the core function of the programme. From the findings, the study recommends that the University sets up a strong Curriculum Development Department funded and staffed with experts in research and curriculum design and development. These should manage the designing and preparation of curriculum documents by involving primary school stakeholders, especially primary school teachers. / Curriculum and Instructional Studies / Ph. D.
