The effects of alerting signals in masked priming

Fischer, Rico, Plessow, Franziska, Kiesel, Andrea 28 November 2013 (has links) (PDF)
Alerting signals often serve to reduce temporal uncertainty by predicting the time of stimulus onset. The resulting response time benefits have often been explained by facilitated translation of stimulus codes into response codes on the basis of established stimulus-response (S-R) links. In paradigms of masked S-R priming alerting signals also modulate response activation processes triggered by subliminally presented prime stimuli. In the present study we tested whether facilitation of visuo-motor translation processes due to alerting signals critically depends on established S-R links. Alerting signals resulted in significantly enhanced masked priming effects for masked prime stimuli that included and that did not include established S-R links (i.e., target vs. novel primes). Yet, the alerting-priming interaction was more pronounced for target than for novel primes. These results suggest that effects of alerting signals on masked priming are especially evident when S-R links between prime and target exist. At the same time, an alerting-priming interaction also for novel primes suggests that alerting signals also facilitate stimulus-response translation processes when masked prime stimuli provide action-trigger conditions in terms of programmed S-R links.

Účetní a daňové aspekty kapitálových transakcí s podnikem v komparaci ČÚP a IFRS / Accounting and tax aspects of capital transactions with company in comparison with CZ GAAP and IFRS

PATÁKOVÁ, Aneta January 2015 (has links)
The topic of this thesis titled " Accounting and tax aspects of capital transactions with company in comparison with CZ GAAP and IFRS" was the definition of ownership transactions with the company and description of some differences between both legislation. The accounting and taxation aspects were first analyzed in terms of theory (regu-lations, definition, history of the business combination and their development from the past to the present, present situation of volume of M&A transactions and method of accounting solutions of these transaction) and subsequently in the form of practical application to particular accounting data of two companies named XYZ a KLM. The practical part mostly deals with merger of companies KLM and XYZ. Both of them were limited liability compa-nies with financial problems. The first part of practical part of this thesis was to analyse the transformation project and progress chart. Then the closing balance sheets and income statements (Czech legislations) of XYZ and KLM were compared with balance sheets and statements according to IFRS. The opening balance sheet of the successor of this transaction (XYZ) was compiled by the purchase method with quantifying valuation difference on acquired assets. Mergers and acquisitions are the most frequent business combinations. Sectors of the economy with the highest number of these transactions are the sectors of industrials & chemicals in the world and the sector of Real estate in Czech Republic. The last chapter is focused on the differences and form IFRS and Czech legislation.

Syndrom vyhoření u pracovníků oddělení nepojistných sociálních dávek Úřadu práce České republiky / Burnout Syndrome of the Czech Republic Labour Office Workers from Noninsurance Social Benefits Department

MARKOVÁ, Marcela January 2016 (has links)
My thesis deals with the topic of burning out of Department of non-insurance social benefits (DNSB) Labor Office workers in the Czech Republic. We can find a lot of definitions of Burn-out Syndrome in the literature. Some of them are focused on the emotional, mental or physical exhaustion, others interpret the syndrome as a process with certain development. Nevertheless, Burn-out Syndrome is a pack of symptoms including lack of zest and energy, life joy and mainly enthusiasm needed for work. There are various functions of the Labor office CZ: to fulfill tasks in the employment area, protection of employees in case of employer´s insolvency and first of all, to administrate, decide and pay non-insurance social benefits. Social workers and referees who work in DNSB are extremely endangered with Burn-out Syndrome because of their specific work. Their job requires daily talks with clients who do not have only one but various problems and who are unable to solve them by themselves. And these clients usually expect more service than the office workers can provide. The aim of my thesis is to describe the Burn-out Syndrome issue and its appearance in the group of the social workers and referees of the DNSB Labor Office CZ. Partial aim of my thesis is to find out if the workers have information how to precede it and to compare the difference between small and big town workers. Other partial aim is to find out if the workers subjectively suffer exhaustion. Three hypotheses were set up. Workers of DNSB in bigger towns feel subjectively more exhausted than those in smaller ones. Social workers have more information how to precede it than referees. Referees feel subjectively more exhausted than social workers. Flowingly there is a survey question: what do the workers in the DNSB Labor Office CZ know about Burn-out Syndrome? A quantity strategy of survey was set up via using questionnaire. There were 148 DNSB workers in the survey sample who filled in completely and correctly the questionnaire. As a complement strategy a quality data survey was used via questioning method, semi-structured interview. 8 workers from total 249 workers were chosen by random choice to be interviewed - this group forms the second survey sample. Results of quantity survey are presented with descriptive statistics using graphs and charts. The set up hypotheses were tested with statistic method of Chi-squared test. The results show that DNSB workers in bigger cities do not feel more exhausted than those in smaller ones. Social workers of DNSB have more information how to precede it than referees. Referees do not feel more exhausted than social workers of DNSB. For analysis of quality survey, a hand written record was chosen. There were identified three clusters: awareness about Burn-out Syndrome, perception of clients and personal feelings. The results of quality part show that DNSB workers have information about the Syndrome, but the information is incomplete - sometimes even confusing in the sense of focusing on the unimportant peculiarities instead of core causes. Regarding individual answers, most of the workers see the clients and work with the clients as something unpleasant, not entertaining. Moreover, we can imply from the survey a necessity of specialized training about Burn-out Syndrome focused on the workers. Practical anticipated benefit of the thesis is providing study materials to the students of the Health and Social Faculty of the Southern Bohemian University in České Budějovice and providing the materials to the Labor Office CZ.

Ověření konvergentní a diskriminační validity české verze dotazníku Self-compassion Scale. / Verification of convergent and discriminant validity of Self-compassion Scale (Czech version).

Reichová, Anna January 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the concept of self-compassion - a healthy attitude toward oneself which could be more easily attainable than unconditional self-acceptance and have less downsides than self-esteem. The first part of the thesis offers the most widely used conceptualisation of self-compassion, a comparison between self-compassion, self-esteem and unconditional self-acceptance, a summary of application areas of self-compassion, a list of relevant psychometric tools and a description of the Czech translation of the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS-CZ). The second part of the thesis consists of a quantitative study designed to further assess the construct validity of the SCS-CZ using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II), the trait form of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI X2) and the Unconditional Positive Self-Regard Scale (UPSRS) and to explore the connection between self-compassion and unconditional positive self-regard. A battery of web-based inventories was administered to a non-clinical sample (n = 415). The SCS-CZ shows a strong negative correlation with the BDI-II and the STAI X2, and a strong positive correlation with the UPSRS. The SCS-CZ is a valid measure of self-compasssion, suitable for comparing groups and population samples. For drawing conclusions about individuals, it is...

Zadejte název práce Finanční analýza společnosti Pragometal / Financial analysis of Pragometal s.r.o.

Svoboda, Adam January 2009 (has links)
Without a doubt we can say that financial analysis is basic knowledge of every financial manager. Its principle is not only in description of company's past activities, but also in future predictions, planning and decision making. That is absulutly necessery in todays world with its dayly changes. Financial analysis outputs may be considered as basic pillar of managing, planning, future strategies making, but also for a intercompany comparison and activity analysis. Analysed company, called Pragometal is a metall scrap wholesale business (CZ-NACE 467700). It is a limited liability company. Its assets peak was over 75 million crowns and its highest profit after tex reached over 7 mil. CZK. Financial analysis deals with the time period since 2004 till 2008. I have decided to analyse this company, because I am one of its employees in administration and I have a knowledge a view of its activities. I also get some internal information, that are necessery for higher quality of financial analysis.

Perceptual and Motor Consequences of Intra-saccadic Perception

Schweitzer, Richard 14 December 2020 (has links)
Rapid eye movements, so-called saccades, are the fastest and most frequent human movements and cause projections of objects in the world to constantly shift across the retina at high velocities, thereby producing large amounts of motion blur. In contrast to accounts of saccadic suppression, this work explores the extent and potential functional role of intra-saccadic perception. As saccades are fast and brief events, technical challenges were addressed. Study I describes a custom LED-based anorthoscopic presentation setup capable of displaying text and images strictly during saccades. In study II, a novel online saccade detection algorithm enabled rapid, gaze-contingent display changes using a DLP projection system running at 1440 fps. Studies III and IV investigated whether intra-saccadic motion streaks, i.e., blurred traces routinely induced by stimuli moving at saccadic speeds, could serve as cues to establishing object correspondence across saccades. Motion streaks not only enabled perceptual matching of pre- and post-saccadic object locations, while performance depended strongly on streak efficiency, but also facilitated gaze correction in response to intra-saccadic target displacements, that was previously found to be mainly driven by objects’ surface features. Finally, study V explored the subjective appearance and localization of intra-saccadic motion streaks, tasking observers to reproduce their trajectories. Computational modeling of resulting response patterns suggested that retinal positions over time were combined with a damped eye position signal to readily localize intra-saccadic input in world-centered coordinates. Taken together, these results invite the intriguing hypothesis that intra-saccadic visual signals are not discarded from processing and might affect trans-saccadic perceptual and motor processes. The potential role of intra-saccadic perception for active vision, as well as directions for future research, are discussed.
