Od Libuše k Vlastě - od Vyšehradu k Děvínu. Pověst o Libuši a dívčí válce v literatuře 19. století / From Libussa to Wlasta - from Vyšehrad to Děvín. Tale about Libussa and "the Woman's War" in the Literature of the 19th Century

Futtera, Ladislav January 2017 (has links)
This thesis concentrates on the capturing of the portrayal of the Czech prehistory in the German literature, by the German-speaking authors originating from the Czech countries as well as in the Czech literature. The term 'Czech prehistory' is approached in terms of the Czech tales, with emphasis laid on the character of Princess Libussa (Libuše). The span of the thesis reaches from the Englightenment to the argument about the authenticity of the Rukopis královédvorský (Manuscript from Dvůr Králové) and the Rukopis zelenohorský (Manuscript from Zelená hora) in the 1880s. The thesis is divided into two parts. First, the development trends of the representation of the Czech prehistory are chronologically presented. The literary-historical development is discussed in relation to the changes in the concepts of German and Czech patriotism and nationalism. There is also a focus on the development of poetics and the shifts in the reception of prehistory during the periods of Enlightenment, Romanticism and Biedermeier. The changes in the character of Princess Libussa are compared of the possibilities of literary portrayal of Rübezahl (Krakonoš), the mythical ruler of the Giant Mountains, in literary works claiming allegiance to German or Czech patriotism and nationalism. In the second part, the portrayal...

Magický realismus v Čechách a německy mluvících zemích: Studie interkulturní komunikace / Magical realism in Bohemia and in German speaking countries: A Study to intercultural communication".

Pačisková, Barbora January 2016 (has links)
In the presented thesis I focused on the translations (specifically between Czech and German) of a particular literary movement, that appeared in the first half of the 20th century - of magic(al) realism. As for the topic and metodological directing of the thesis, it falls within the history of translation. The main aim is to present the original literary production of magical realism in the German speaking countries and in Bohemia and to demonstrate, to what extent the both cultural areas have connected during the existence of magical realism by means of translations. The research is led especially with quantitative respect - I primarily focus on collecting of the originals and their translations (if there are any). By the existing translations I studied mainly the cultural-historical context of their origin and their eventual integration into the literary tradition of the target culture. Finding out the number of existing translations proceeded in form of extensive searches in the national libraries. It shows itself that only ca. one third of the so called magical realist titles was translated from German into Czech so far. From the Czech titles around a half came out in German. Though this thesis cannot be taken as an exhaustive summary of all topics bound with magical realism from the point of...

Islám v českém prostoru / Islam in Czech Culture

Bellu, Alexander January 2016 (has links)
The thesis deals with the presence of Muslims and Islam in the Czech area. Its ambition is to describe the current state, orientation, integration and current public perceptions of Muslim communities in the Czech Republic. For a more comprehensive mapping of the Muslim aspect in the Czech area, the work could not avoid, albeit in a nutshell, certain socio-historical events that could affect actual perceptions of Muslims and Islam by Czech citizens. It describes not only Islamic themes in the literary production in Bohemia and Moravia but also the influence of Islamic science in the Middle Ages and its reflection on the works of Czech scholars. Another part of the text deals with Islam in the Czech Republic in terms of its inclusion in the legislation. Subsequent chapters follow the Muslim community in the Czech Republic, their charity work and degree of integration. The main method of the work is the selection and analysis of selected relevant literary, journal and scientific texts, i.e. texts mentioning Islam on Czech territory from the Middle Ages to the present.

Vesnické drama v tvorbě L. N. Tolstého a bratří Mrštíků / Country drama in the works of L. N.Tolstoy and brothers Mrštíkové

Dembická, Lucie January 2017 (has links)
The key feature of realism in drama is capturing a person including all it's problems and flaws. Authors L. N. Tolstoj and Mrštík brothers in Government of darkness and Marysha congruently focused on life in countryside and the negative, almost destructive, way in which cities and their culture influence it. The aim of this thesis was to capture the main motives in the changes of life in Russian and Czech countryside. This analysis concludes that the most significant shifts are in peoples' morals, mostly due to the fact that both individuals as well as the whole society were intensively driven to earn and accumulate wealth, even at the cost of happiness, health or, sadly, human life. Tolstoj's drama also captures in more detail and depth abandonment of religion in pursuit of personal profit. Although the religious motive is an inherent part of rural mentality, it's mostly missing in the play by Mrštík brothers, who themselves were atheist. Significant space in those plays has been dedicated to female characters. They are described as either dominant, manipulative women with clear goals, or the authors emphasize their vulnerability and lack of experience. Matrjona and Lízalka are mature women whose main goal is to financially provide for their childs without any regard for their children's...

Vliv španělského cílového polysystému v česko-španělském překladu ve druhé polovině 20. století / The Influence of the Spanish polysystem on Czech-Spanish translation during the second half of the 20th century

Cuenca Drouhard, Miguel José January 2014 (has links)
Dizertační práce Miguel José Cuenca Drouhard ABSTRACT Key words: translation, Czech literature, 20th century, polysystem theory, censorship, history of translation, Čapek, War with the newts History as a scientific tool contributes in a unique manner to the evolution of mankind, its activities and ideas, because mankind, in contrast to things, is formed by its past. In the field of translation studies, History of Translation is perceived as a valuable instrument for understanding the complexity of translation work, and its importance among creative activities and within society in general. Among theories concerning human activities and translation in particular, polysystem theory is characterised by a descriptive and systemic approach that is rooted in Russian formalism and Czech structuralism. Polysystem theory emphasises the dynamic and heterogeneous nature of systems as opposed to the static, homogenous and ahistorical nature of systems which has wrongfully been attributed to the structuralists. Translation activities and its products are mainly part of the target culture's polysystem, because the translation process culminates in the target culture with the final reception and interpretation of the original work, in which in this phase the repertoire of the target system is incorporated. Despite the...
