Correlação entre achados clínicos e histopatológicos com aqueles da imunofluorescência direta no diagnóstico de lúpus eritematoso discoide canino / Correlation between clinical and histopathological findings with those of direct immunofluorescence in the diagnosis of canine discoid lupus erythematosus

Odaguiri, Juliana 10 December 2013 (has links)
The discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is the most common variant of the Complex Lupus Erythematosus, considered one of auto-immune skin diseases more evident in dogs, getting very close to the casuistry of pemphigus foliaceus. The disease is relatively benign and without systemic involvement, clinically characterized by leukoderma and / or erythema associated with loss of the normal planum nasale \"cobblestone \" architecture and immunologically by deposition of autoantibodies (IgA, C3, IgM and IgG) at the basement membrane zone (BMZ). This study aims to correlate the clinical and histopathological findings with those of direct immunofluorescence (DIF), aiming to increase the accuracy of diagnosis DLE. We included 11 dogs (Group I) with cutaneous lesions characteristic of DLE and five dogs (Group II), with no cutaneous alterations, for the negative DIF. Cutaneous fragments derived from the planum nasale were submitted to histopathological examination and DIF, and the results obtained in both Groups I and II were analyzed by kappa index (k) in order to determine the degree of agreement or reliability among two methods. In Group I, the diagnostic DLE was established in 100 % (11/11) of animals, by the reaction of DIF, while the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis in 81.8 % (9/11) of cases. The positive DIF for DLE canine was established, in its totality, from the greenish fluorescence evident in the BMZ and / or on their skin annexes and the immunoreagents most frequently found were IgM and C3. Now, in relation to the Group II, all animals did not reveal any histopathological tegumentar changes. Also, by the DIF results were negative. The substantial degree of agreement between the DIF and histopathology (k = 0.738 and p = 0.002) shows that the direct immunofluorescence assay is feasible and useful in establishing the diagnosis of canine DLE.

In today’s industrial world, there are high demands on the environmental aspects. Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB (SIT AB) is a company that is keen about the environment, and therefore spends a lot of effort in developing combustion processes in order to reduce NOx (nitrogen oxides) emissions on their engine products. They are also researching in optional fuels, which are more environment-friendly. In order to provide lower emissions the SIT designed a water rig to study the flow dynamics in a DLE (Dry Low Emission) burner. An analyze program (GUI horizontal) was developed with new functions and the existing functions were improved. The program’s function was to evaluate different experimental tests of the flow dynamics in the 3rd generation DLE burners, of the SGT-800 gas turbine engine. The aim was to ensure repeatability to enhance reliability, of the experimental test results for further comparison, for upcoming projects concerning future DLE burners. When repeatability was achieved, implementations of different geometrical modifications were performed in the 3rd generation DLE burner. The reason of the geometrical alterations was to look over if better fuel air mixture could be obtained and accordingly (thus) to reduce hotspots in the burner and in that case reduce NOx emissions.

Pilot Study for Quantifying LEED Energy & Atmosphere Operational Savings in Healthcare Facilities

Daniels, Patrick Rudolph 2012 August 1900 (has links)
Owner groups and Facility Managers of health care facilities interested in reducing operation and maintenance (O&M) expenses for new facilities have often been placed in the difficult position of making cost-benefit assessments without a complete understanding of the cumulative impact of building systems selection on their internal rate of return. This is particularly true when owners are evaluating the initial cost and operational benefit (if any) of obtaining various levels of "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" (LEED) certifications for their buildings. Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, and Lighting (HVAC&L) loads comprise 51% of the total energy demand in the typical outpatient facility; however, in order to estimate the likelihood of achieving a particular LEED rating for a new building, a "Whole Building Energy Simulation" is necessary to evaluate HVAC&L system performance. The conventional of requiring a design upon which to base an analysis presents owner operators attempting to perform a Lifecycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) early in the concept phase with two unique problems - how to estimate energy use without an actual "design" to model, and how to estimate a system's first cost without knowing its performance requirements. This study outlines a process by which existing energy metrics from the Department of Energy (DOE), Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS), and Energy Star, can be made early during the developer's pro forma phase - without the need for a building design. Furthermore, preliminary business decisions targeted at determining the likelihood of obtaining a particular LEED rating, and specifying the corresponding building systems, can be estimated without the cost required to employ an Architect and Engineer (A&E) team, or the time necessary to develop a design. This paper concludes that regional factors can dramatically affect a building's required level of energy performance, and that the highest performing HVAC&L system, irrespective of cost, will not always provide the best return on investment. Accordingly, the national averages utilized to establish LEED EA1 thresholds do not reflect the cost particularities owners may encounter when developing in various climate zones, and therefor may be less relevant to lifecycle considerations that previously believed.

Educação e autonomia no ciberespaço : interrogações sobre a EAD on-line / Autonomy and Education in cyberspace : questions about the DLE online

Wanderley da Silva 30 April 2010 (has links)

Vliv senzomotorické stimulace na plochonoží u dětí předškolního věku / Influence of sensomotoric stimulation on flat foot in preschool-aged children

Řehůřková, Markéta January 2012 (has links)
Title: The effect of sensomotoric stimulation on flat foot of children Introduction: Flat foot is a common health problem in childhood. Its development is related to congenital or acquired dysfunction of the plantar vault. There is no single opinion on the criteria for diagnosis and therapy forms. The aftereffects and health risks of flat foot are often neglected. The therapy form of sensomotoric stimulation, including balance exercises and walking barefoot over different surfaces, could be an appropriate part of the physical activities and games for children in kindergarten. Objectives: The main objective of this thesis was to compare foot prints of a group of children from one kindergarten class before and after six months of sensomotoric stimulation by three different methods (the Chippaux-Šmiřák method, the Godunov-Sztriter method and the Mayer method.). The second objective was to determine at what age category will be the highest prevalence of flat feet and also at what age group is the biggest improvement of the foot arch. The third objective was to compare each other method and determine whether the results will match. Hypothesis 1: After six months of sensomotoric stimulation of the feet of children occurs in the majority of feet of probands the improvement of the longitudinal foot arch...
