Robinson, Walter S. 05 1900 (has links)
This thesis seeks to examine in details the arguments centering around the American justice of the peace court system and evaluate the justices of the peace of Dallas County in the light of these argurents. A second purpose is to evaluate the positions of critics and defenders of the present justice system in the light of the needs of the litigants who come before te justice courts in Dallas County--or who would come before the replacement court advocated by the Texas State Bar Association. Finally, a sunmary analysis leads to recommendations for best serving the interests of these litigants. In the preparation of this study, wide use was made of both wrItten materials and personal interviews. The first three chapters are based largely on written materials, many of which are primary sources. The written source materials include reports, journal, articles, especially articles in legal periodicals, books, newspapers, court case reports and statutes. The latter chapters, the most significant part of the study, are based almost entirely on personal interviews and observations of the justice courts.

Congressional Reconstruction in Dallas County, Texas: Was it Radical?

Smith, Melinda Diane Connelly 08 1900 (has links)
Looking at census reports, county commissioners court minutes, Freedmen's Bureau records, manuscript collections, and secondary material, this study investigates the effects of Military Reconstruction, 1867-1870, on Dallas County, Texas. There were few lasting or long-term changes for the area. The county was isolated from communities to the east and south that encountered different effects. There was a small black and Unionist population and virtually no carpetbaggers. Succumbing to apathy in the 1868 election that produced a Republican constitutional convention, county Conservatives successfully determined not to let it happen again and were "redeemed" in 1870. The white population of the county, increasing rapidly during this period, contributed to an attitude that pushed Radical Reconstruction aside and focused on prosperity and growth.

Production Trends in the Utilization of Commercial Multi-Image Presentations Produced in Dallas During the High Growth Years 1979-1981

McCracken, Bruce (Bruce Edward) 05 1900 (has links)
This study was designed to determine the general volume of multi-image production in Dallas County, Texas from 1979 through 1981 as categorized by: the presentation, number of projectors utilized, and by relevant aspects of presentation with analysis of 85 respondents. The questionnaire yielded 633 variables in the computer analysis. The study revealed significant growth in multi-image production with the 1981 total being more than twice the 1979 total. 1988 consensus indicates that the multi-image use is dictated by the business climate. Having been adopted initially, it is retained by those who find it effective and a suitable medium for larger screens.
