The purpose of this study was threefold: (1) to write a narrative account of the meaning, objectives, and functions of -auditorium work in public schools and to note the importance of providing for pupil participation in auditorium classes, and recommended practices in planning for and presenting programs in this phase of the educational situation; (2) to develop in detail the practices, procedures, and techniques contained in printed and mimeographed materials distributed by the Board of Education to auditorium teachers to serve as guides in conducting auditorium work in the elementary schools of Dallas, Texas; and (3) to evaluate these instructional materials in the light of modern practices, procedures, and techniques advocated by authorities in the field of auditorium work. As an outgrowth of these three phases of the study, it was believed that certain conclusions might be evident as to the efficacy of the auditorium work in the elementary schools of Dallas in so far as it could be determined by a careful examination of materials prepared for the use of auditorium teachers in conducting their classes. It was believed, also, that it might be possible to make recommendations for the improvement of auditorium work in the elementary schools of Dallas in the light of the instructional materials now used by auditorium teachers as compared to modern conceptions of auditorium advanced by authorities in the field.

Truancy Intervention: A Study of Dallas Independent School District Participants in the Dallas Challenge Truancy and Class C Enforcement CenterFairchild, James John 08 1900 (has links)
This research examines agency data for participants in a truancy intervention program. Previous literature provides mostly descriptive information and fails to examine the effects of truancy intervention efforts. The analysis provides a profile of truant participants referred to the program and factors that correlate to successful completion of the program requirements. The results will be applicable to the study program as evaluation research and will be generalized for application to other truancy programs. Directions for future truancy research will be suggested based on the need to continue to evaluate truancy reduction efforts.

An Empirical Study of Whether the Direct Involvement of Classroom Teachers in the Decision-Making Process of a Public School District in Conjunction with Their Locus of Control Orientation Affects Their Perceptions of Job SatisfactionSmith, Don L. (Don Lee) 12 1900 (has links)
The problem with which this investigation was concerned was that of gaining a better understanding of factors which promote public school teachers' job satisfaction and the determination of the degree of impact of two specific organizational factors upon such job satisfaction. The two organizational factors are those of involvement in the decision-making process of the school district and the locus of control construct. This study had two purposes. The first was to determine if the direct involvement of classroom teachers in the decision-making process of a public school district affected their perceptions of job satisfaction. The second was to determine the relationship of locus of control on job satisfaction when teachers were directly involved in the decision-making process of a public school district.
