Řízení datového skladu a optimalizace MWF / Data Warehouse Management and MWF Optimization

Matoušková, Barbora January 2012 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the data warehouse of an extensive bank intitution from its operational management point of view (for the main part). To grasp the fast overview of the data warehouse the thesis includes the description of its data architecture, transformation processes and the way of presenting data to its users. Besides that the description of systems used for both the business data and for the metadata purposses is also included in this thesis. The thesis also covers operational activities including the identification of weak areas and their improvements. Another part of the thesis is represented by the project of optimization of a scheduling mechanism (Master Workflow) for running transformation processes, that helps to minimalize the metadata load of the Teradata database system. The main goal of this thesis is to describe the environment of the data warehouse in an understandable way. It's critical to understand the environment for both, the operational management personnel and for developers, that can supply the warehouse with higher quality solutions and ease the deployment of new deliveries into the production environment. This goal is achieved by the description of the data warehouse (mainly the description of its data architecture, transformation processes, operational activities and tools used to deploy changes into the production environment). Another goal is to give a feedback on the operational activities from the operational personnel point of view. This helps identify weak spots and can lead to its elimination. The last goal is to improve the scheduling mechanism that controls and runs all transformation processes. This goal is achieved by a project. The thesis describes the starting state, implemented changes, final state and the consideration whether the project was successful or not. The thesis brings several contributions: easier understanding of the data warehouse and the way of managing ETL processes -- for the operational management personnel and developers, which can bring the improvement of new solutions. The possibility of elimination of weak areas in the operational activities. And thanks to the project described there are two changes -- standardization and the metadata load of Teradata decreased. My own contribution to this issue is, besides the useful introduction to the data warehouse, the identification of the weak areas, suggested improvements and also the project of optimization Master Workflow which took about 17 MD. The thesis is devided into chapters based on the topics described: introductory information, theoretical base, characteristics of the main systems, the description of the data warehouse, the description of operational activities including the identification of weak areas, and at the end there is the project of optimization of Master Workflow. In the last chapter there is the final conclusion of the entire thesis.

An Investigation of Multiple Integration Techniques for Information Systems: A Model for Integrating Data Warehousing, ERP, and SOA in Practice

Burns, Jessie 01 January 2010 (has links)
This study addressed issues associated with implementing multiple data integrators. The process included implementing the same data integrator multiple times or implementing multiple different data integrators. It was shown that single data integrators implementations were failing at high rates. Environments were complicated because there were more acquisitions and mergers now than in the past, companies were required to be competitive while implementations were taking place, and possibly had short implementation time frames. The main goal of this study was to develop an agile, sturdy, and rigorous model that addressed the needs of companies that found themselves in situations where they needed to implement two or more data integrators and possibly business initiatives. This researcher developed a model and a questionnaire. The questionnaire was used to gather data from managers and practitioners in the information technology industry. The collected information was expected to show a consensus about the proposed JBurns Systems Implementation Model (JBSIM). Analysis showed various industry participants used different combinations of the proposed data integrators supported and they supported the proposed JBSIM. This model allowed for successful implementation of multiple data integrators used in this research. As this model matured, it had the potential that allowed the use of other data integrators not used in this research. It had potential that allowed corporate initiatives to be used.

Garcelon, Nicolas 29 November 2017 (has links)
The repurposing of clinical data for research has become widespread with the development of clinical data warehouses. These data warehouses are modeled to integrate and explore structured data related to thesauri. These data come mainly from machine (biology, genetics, cardiology, etc.) but also from manual data input forms. The production of care is also largely providing textual data from hospital reports (hospitalization, surgery, imaging, anatomopathologic etc.), free text areas in electronic forms. This mass of data, little used by conventional warehouses, is an indispensable source of information in the context of rare diseases. Indeed, the free text makes it possible to describe the clinical picture of a patient with more precision and expressing the absence of signs and uncertainty. Particularly for patients still undiagnosed, the doctor describes the patient's medical history outside any nosological framework. This wealth of information makes clinical text a valuable source for translational research. However, this requires appropriate algorithms and tools to enable optimized re-use by doctors and researchers. We present in this thesis the data warehouse centered on the clinical document, which we have modeled, implemented and evaluated. In three cases of use for translational research in the context of rare diseases, we attempted to address the problems inherent in textual data: (i) recruitment of patients through a search engine adapted to textual (data negation and family history detection), (ii) automated phenotyping from textual data, and (iii) diagnosis by similarity between patients based on phenotyping. We were able to evaluate these methods on the data warehouse of Necker-Enfants Malades created and fed during this thesis, integrating about 490,000 patients and 4 million reports. These methods and algorithms were integrated into the software Dr Warehouse developed during the thesis and distributed in Open source since September 2017.
