Date adjustment tools : Date rollover and Individual date adjustmentThelander, Anton January 2016 (has links)
Learning Management Systems (LMSs) have become a larger part of teaching and learning in the modern world. Therefore has Moodle, a free and open source e-learning tool surfaced and gained a lot of attraction and downloads. A purpose of this study has been to develop a new local plugin in Moodle with guidelines from Magnus Eriksson and Tsedey Terefe. A purpose for this project has also been to build a plugin which has the functions Date rollover and Individual date adjustment. Mid Sweden University (Miun) stated that WebCT/Blackboard was in use before Moodle and some other LMSs and the dissatisfaction with WebCT/Blackboard was rife, however some teachers liked it. Therefore WebCT/Blackboard was abandoned and Moodle was embraced. The methods of gaining information has generally been web based sources and three interviews, likewise called user tests. Programs and other aids that have been used include but are not limited to: Google Drive, LTI Provider, Moodle, Moodle documentation, Notepad++, PHP and XAMPP. The plugin has been implemented as a local plugin. The result has shown that the coded plugin, Date adjustment tools could be improved and that it was changed. In the plugin, support for old American English dates were added and the code for using the two functions “Date rollover” and “Individual date adjustment” were rewritten to not interfere with one another. A conclusion to draw from the result is that the plugin has been improved from Terefe’s implementation, although more work can be made with the plugin Date adjustment tools.

Seeding Date and Genotype Maturity Interactions on Grain Sorghum [Sorghum bicolor –(L.) Moench] Performance In North DakotaYilmaz, Kutay January 2020 (has links)
Grain sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] varieties fail to reach maturity in North Dakota’s short and cool growing season. The study objective was to evaluate seeding date and white grain sorghum genotypes. A randomized complete block design study was conducted at Carrington, Oakes, and Prosper, ND, in 2018 and 2019. Genotypes included two commercial hybrids and four open-pollinated genotypes. Reaching heading and anthesis, hybrids required more heat units (GDDs), compared with the open-pollinated genotypes. Highest grain yield was obtained from the first and second seeding dates. Earlier-maturing open-pollinated genotypes maintained yield across seeding dates, whereas yield was reduced at later dates for the longer maturity hybrids. Hybrids produced the highest number of kernels per panicle at the first seeding date with fewer seeds at each successive seeding date. Although the open-pollinated genotypes out-yielded the hybrids at later seeding dates, the risk of lodging is too great to recommend their commercialization.

Management Practices for Improved Winter Survival of Winter Wheat in North DakotaHall, Jameson January 2012 (has links)
Hard red winter wheat (winter wheat, Triticum aestivum L.) production has been
historically low in ND due to cold winter temperatures resulting in winter injury and stand
loss. The objective of this research was to determine if management practices could
improve winter survival and yield of winter wheat. Field experiments were conducted at
five locations. Due to high winter snowfall, there was little difference in snow depth and
winter survival between previous crop residues. Planting at the recommended date always
resulted in the highest winter survival compared to planting late. At Hettinger, soil
temperatures reached nearly -15°C, and as a result, the less-hardy cultivar Hawken had
only 50% winter survival. Differences in fertility treatment were not consistent across
location during this study. ND soils are inherently high in P and K, so it is likely the high
soil nutrient levels masked any potential benefit to seed-applied P and K.
