Previous issue date: 2003-03-13 / The opening of the job market to the physically impaired, through the recent passing of specific legislation, now obliges Brazilian companies to adapt themselves to receive these people, respect their right to work and guarantee accessibility, allowing them to become and feel more independent and productive to society. The present study analyzes the strategies in human resources of 22 Brazilian companies that have adapted and welcomed physically impaired professionals into their staff and the job market. The study also discusses certain aspects of company motivation, social integration of the physically impaired, and its specific legislation. This research, which was carried out among a sample group of Brazilian companies that now hire professionals with physical impairment, implies an unfavorable quantitative trend in their insertion in the job market. The results of this research indicate the need to disseminate knowledge of this specific legislation. As a result of the reexamination of existing literature, even though scarce due to its specificity, and of the empirical data obtained, certain basic elements are suggested to create appropriate conditions and an environment of greater motivation and social integration for the impaired. / A abertura do mercado de trabalho para pessoas com defici??ncia, mediante legisla????o espec??fica, obriga as empresas brasileiras a prepararem-se para receber esses indiv??duos e reconhece seus direitos de acesso ao trabalho como meio de tornarem-se independentes, ??teis e capazes. O presente estudo analisa as estrat??gias de recursos humanos de 22 empresas brasileiras para inser????o do profissional com defici??ncia no mercado de trabalho. Esta disserta????o tamb??m aborda aspectos ligados ?? motiva????o das empresas, ?? integra????o social dos deficientes e ?? legisla????o espec??fica. A pesquisa realizada junto a uma amostra de empresas brasileiras que empregam deficientes sugere ??ndices quantitativos desfavor??veis relativamente ?? inclus??o desses profissionais. Os resultados do trabalho indicam a necessidade de disseminar o conhecimento da legisla????o ;que ampara as pessoas portadoras de defici??ncia. Em decorr??ncia da revis??o da literatura, ainda que limitada pela especificidade do tema, e dos dados emp??ricos levantados s??o oferecidos elementos e condi????es para que se crie um ambiente de trabalho que ofere??a maior motiva????o e uma efetiva integra????o social do deficiente no contexto de trabalho.
