Resistência de união entre uma cerâmica e o esmalte de dente bovino, efetuada por diferentes sistemas adesivos e técnicas de cimentação / Bond strength between a ceramic and bovine tooth enamel, made by different adhesive systems and luting techniques

Sá, André Tomazini Gomes de 11 October 2011 (has links)
The aim of this study was to evaluate the strength of adhesive bonding of a glass-ceramic (IPS e.max Press) fixed on the enamel of bovine teeth. There were used two methods of cementation one in which the adhesive was pre-cured, and another in which the photopolymerization of the adhesive and composite cement was performed simultaneously after the fixing of ceramic disc, which was 5mm in diameter and 2mm thick. Through a combination of two light cured adhesive systems (Single Bond and FL Optibond 2) and two resin cements (Variolink II and RelyX ARC), one light-cured and another dual-cured associated with the two luting techniques eight conditions of cementation were formed. The samples were subjected to shear test technique. Under the established conditions, after statistical treatment of results the following conclusions could be drawn: a) the cementation technique with simultaneous curing of the adhesive with cement produced resistance rates higher than those obtained by the technique of pre-curing the adhesive; b) the combination of adhesive Single Bond 2 with cement Variolink II resulted in lower bond strength, in comparison with the other three combinations of cements and adhesives formed.

Huhtala, Maria Filomena Rocha Lima. January 1999 (has links)
Abstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of three luting agents : Resin Cement (3M), Variolink (Vivadent) e Fuji Plus (GC Coorp.); in bonding porcelain (Fortune, Williams) and glass polymer (Artglass, Kulzer) discs. To bovine dentin. The facial surfaces of 120 bovine incisors, previously mounted in self-cured resin, were ground flat on wet 80-grit SiC paper. Dentin surfaces exposed had their final finish accomplished by grinding on wet 240, 400 and 600-grit SiC paper. The specimens were randomly assigned to test groups of ten samples. Onto the pretreated dentin surfaces, the discs (5mm diameter,3mm height) were cemented Jhey were seated to a standardized luting thickness of 40µ. Each two groups were cemented with the same luting agent, and one of them shear tested after 24 h and the other after 180 days in an Instron machine. The bond strength data obtained were analysed by ANO VA and the Tukey test, 5%. The mode of failure was classified. The shear test results indicated significant differences among the luting agents: Variolink II (6, 02MPa), Fuji Plus (1 1,20MPa) and with the highest shear bond stregth accomplished when the 3M Resin Cement was the luting agent (14,16MPa). Higher values were also obtained with the porcelain discs and after the 180 days storage period. Mode of failure varied among the groups, with predominance of mixed fractures at the tooth/cement interface, and with a few cohesive porcelain and glass polymer fractures. It can be concluded that the Resin Cement (3M) and the procedure used offer reasonable strength on the porcelain and dentin site / Doutor

The influence of compressive cyclic loading on the retention of cast crown copings cemented to implant abutments.

Dudley, James January 2008 (has links)
Summary Background The cementation of crowns to dental implant abutments is an accepted form of crown retention that requires consideration of the properties of available cements within the applied clinical context. Most current dental cements were developed primarily for use with natural tooth crowns, but must act in a different manner with implant components. Cements are exposed to a number of stressors that may reduce crown retention in vivo, not the least of which is occlusal loading. This study investigated the influence of compressive cyclic loading on the physical retention of cast crown copings cemented to implant abutments. Method Cast crown copings were cemented to Straumann synOcta titanium implant abutments with three different readily used and available cements. Specimens were placed in a humidifier, thermocycled and subjected to one of four quantities of compressive cyclic loading. The uniaxial tensile force required to remove the cast crown copings was then recorded. Data analysis was conducted using two-way ANOVA and paired post tests. Results Statistical analysis arising from post tests following two-way ANOVA testing revealed the mean retention values for crown copings cemented with Panavia-F cement (5.103, 2.681, 3.178, 2.986MPa) were statistically significantly greater than both KetacCem (0.646, 0.701, 1.083, 0.914MPa) and TempBond non–eugenol (0.074, 0.181, 0.190, 0.303MPa) cements at each compressive cyclic loading quantity. KetacCem and TempBond non–eugenol cements produced relatively low mean retention values that were not statistically significantly different at each quantity of compressive cyclic loading. Compressive cyclic loading had a statistically significant effect on Panavia-F specimens alone, but increased loading quantities produced no further statistically significant difference in mean retention. Compressive cyclic loading had no overriding statistically significant effect on the retention of all specimens as a population. Conclusions Within the limitations of the current in vitro conditions employed in this study, the retention of cast crown copings cemented to Straumann synOcta implant abutments with Panavia-F, KetacCem, and TempBond non-eugenol was significantly affected by cement type but not compressive cyclic loading. Panavia-F is the cement of choice for the definitive non-retrievable cementation of cast crown copings to Straumann synOcta implant abutments out of the three cements tested. The implications of these results relate to the choice of cement to provide the desired crown coping retention. / http://proxy.library.adelaide.edu.au/login?url= http://library.adelaide.edu.au/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=1349966 / Thesis (D.Clin.Dent.) -- University of Adelaide, School of Dentistry, 2008

The retention of prefabricated fiberglass posts used in the restoration of endodontically treated teeth is dependent on their bond between the surface of the post and the root canal walls by means of resin cements. The self-adhesive resin cements have recently introduced to simplify the procedure for cementing, but their clinical performance is still controversial in the literature. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of self-adhesive cements under different pretreatment of dentin in the resistance to extrusion of fiberglass posts. Prior to cementing procedure, the pre-treatment of dentin was performed with 11.5% polyacrylic acid, 17% EDTA or sodium hypochlorite. The type of failure between the post/cement/dentin was evaluated by steriomicroscopy. Two hundred and sixteen bovine dentin discs were used. The disks had approximately 1 mm of thickness and they were taken from 72 bovine roots restored with intraradicular retentions. It was employed a universal testing machine MTS 810 Material Test System at a speed of 0.5 mm/min-1 with a load cell of 50 kg to evaluate the push-out resistance in different thirds of each sample . The values of resistance in kgf were converted to Mpa. Data were submitted to Kruskal-Wallis test with Dunn post-hoc test with significance level of 5%. The results showed that pre-treatment had no effect on dentin bond strength, and that the self-adhesive cement RelyX U100 appears to be a viable option in the cementation of fiber post.
