Para tanto: foram estudados aspectos teóricos que deram origem à fundamentação; foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo em cinco indústrias do Pólo Moveleiro de Arapongas/PR; e uma pesquisa de possíveis referências para o desenvolvimento de móveis no Brasil. os resultados indicaram: o uso incorreto e equivocado do conceito de tendência e o desconhecimento do modo que elas operam; a falta de conhecimento a respeito do perfil do consumidor nas indústrias do setor; a preocupação com as vendas e não o consumidor enquanto usuário do móvel; e por fim, a existência de fontes brasileiras de referências, mas a falta de profissionais especializados que poderiam decodificar essas fontes. / Constant social, cultural and political transformatios influence directly people's life and define their needs and tastes. Trends are the role of signaling through these facts as people's preferences regarding to objects and can therefore be match to great design, as it works on that project is an activity of planning for future. In this context, this study aimed to characterize trends job in Brazilians home design methodology. For both: theoretical aspects were studied that led to reasoning, was a field research in five industries of Furniture Pole of Arapongas/PR, and a search for possible reference to development of furniture in Brazil. Results indicated: misure and mistaken concepts of trend and ignorance of how they operate, lack of knowledge about industries sector consumer profile, the concern about sales and not with consumer as furniture user and finally, the existence of Brazilian sources of references but the lack of skilled professionals that could decode these sources.

In pieces I wanted to create a design solution inspired by traditional wooden furnitures. Furnitures, like the kitchen sofa with built in storage and a place to sleep or the lockable free-standing linen cabinet that held hand crafted treasures safe and clean inside. Furnitures that are large in size and can be hard to fit into smaller homes today but that holds a huge sentimental value to the owner and are often handed down through generations as heirlooms.   So what if I could weave in a piece of my own family history into a design solution that can fit in smaller living spaces while still be an attractive choice for larger ones?  Pieces resulted in two wooden cabinets that tell part of my family history through the repetitative, organic shapes that I have implemented into them. They are a tribute to my grandmother Aino and her three year younger sister Hanna and my way of symbolically reclaiming their right to the land, forests and lakes around their childhood home that the two sisters didn´t get to share with their siblings in the inheritance after my great grandparents.  The methods I have used in my research are surveys, workshops, in-depth interviews and my own observations. Major design decisions have been based on the input from my research process with the goal to display two full scale cabinets at Konstfack's spring exhibition in May 2023.

Considerando a temática do mobiliário, este trabalho estuda, levanta e analisa as mudanças formais e funcionais ocorridas nas estantes residenciais de sala para equipamentos de som e imagem, a partir de 1950, data da chegada ao Brasil dos primeiros aparelhos de televisão, até os dias atuais. Tem como objetivo determinar quais os fatores que propiciaram ou condicionaram as alterações neste móvel, que vem acompanhando a evolução dos equipamentos aos quais dá suporte, considerando aspectos tecnológicos (processos produtivos, materiais utilizados), de projeto (concepção fundamentada ou não no Design de Produtos) ou sociais (relações com o usuário e com os ambientes onde está inserido). Para conhecimento dos processos produtivos atualmente empregados na fabricação das estantes e os produtos resultantes, procedeu-se a uma pesquisa qualitativa de dados primários, apoiada no estudo de casos de algumas empresas participantes do APL Movelaria Paulista (marca do Arranjo Produtivo Local de Móveis da Região Metropolitana de São Paulo). Os resultados retratam os modos de conceber e produzir estantes de madeira para uso residencial, que dão suporte aos equipamentos de som e imagem, apontando algumas categorias de marcenarias, estabelecidas em função do tipo de projeto e de produção decorrentes das trajetórias de cada empresa em direção à industrialização. / Concerning the furniture theme, this study raises and analyses changes regarding formats and functions that have occured in image and sound equipments in residential living rooms racks from 1950, date in which the first TV sets were introduced in Brazil, up today. The purpose is to determine which factors allowed or conditioned changes in this kind of furniture, keeping up with the evolution of the equipments to which gives support, considering the following aspects: technological (production processes, materials), project (product or non-product based conception design) or social (users and environment interaction in which it is inserted). In order to become acquainted with the productive processes currently used in rack manufacturing and related products, a primary qualitative data survey was conducted, supported by case studies of several companies that participate in the APL Movelaria Paulista (brand of São Paulo Metropolitan Area Furniture Productive Arrangement). The results portrait the ways to conceive and produce residential wood racks which give support to image and sound equipments, indicating several categories of wood furniture industries, established according to type of project and production line each company developed along the years, as it stepped into the industrialization age.

The increasing impact of mass production and consumption behaviours have made sustainable product design an important issue in design literature in the last two decades. Studies in the early period focussed on research projects carried out in collaboration with multinational large-sized enterprises, owing to pressures from non-governmental organizations. However, recent studies about sustainable development have pointed out that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) rather than multinationals have a greater share of manufacturing and employment in both industrialized and industrializing countries. Unfortunately, in spite of the important role of SMEs, there is inadequate data and literature relating sustainable design practices to these firms. A lack of information and collaboration, caused partially by communication problems, has resulted in an absence of proper sustainable product design tools for these companies. Furniture enterprises in Ankara are the focus of this study because of the impact of product design in market possibilities and the spread of employment of product designers in the sector. Attitudes of staff and consultants of furniture SMEs regarding barriers and opportunities of sustainable product design are explored, and contrasted with overlapping points of existing product development methods and strategies in the literature. This work is intended to contribute to improved understanding and application of sustainable product design among furniture sector SMEs. To this end, interviews were conducted with 16 furniture manufacturing enterprises from the furniture industry, based in Ankara region and 5 freelance furniture designers cooperating with these enterprises. According to the results of the study, furniture sector SMEs are interested more in economic opportunities of sustainable product design rather than environmental and social aspects. Furthermore, a lack of information about environmental issues is observed in micro and small-sized enterprises / to overcome this situation, it is recommended that training sessions are organized to bring together researchers and practitioners.
