No / The field of Management Consulting research has grown rapidly in recent years. Fuelled by the drivers of complexity and uncertainty, a growing number of organizations - both profit and third sector alike - are looking at Management Consulting to assist in their aims for development and change. Consultants and change agents have become a common feature in organizational change initiatives, with individual consultants and consulting firms now involved in both providing advice and in implementing ideas and solutions. Management Consulting needs to demonstrate value through the application of academic thinking to real life challenges faced by organisations. The book seeks to address these issues by offering applied theoretical insights from academics that both teach Managing Consultancy and are also practicing management consultants. Written by recognized experts in their field, the contributors combine original insights with authoritative analysis. Uniquely, this book identifies emerging themes with critical discourse and provides rich empirical case study evidence to show the reader how Management Consulting projects are implemented. The second part of the book features real-world consultancy projects, written up as cases conducted for organizations. The organizations themselves range from SMEs to multi-national organizations and the public sector. The case studies are international by context and composition, covering several continents.

This dialogue is perceived as a reflection of the processes of secularization and disenchantment of the world, as well as the mediatization context that characterizes contemporary society. It is, above all, the adversarial relationship between the sacred (shown in the figure os the evangelicals) and profane (represented in the figure of Rede Globo) fields, two instances of different nature and purposes which, once put into contact, necessarily need to deal with the conflicts and prohibitions inherent in this relationship. Thus, this work analyzes the tensions, negotiations and concessions identified in the acts of communication established between the evangelicals and the Rede Globo, showing that, despite the several common points that were found and the many elements that were resigned, there is no way sacred and profane can build together a single message that fully meets the needs of the two fields. / O presente trabalho estuda a presença evangélica em programas de auditório da Rede Globo, a partir de uma análise de discurso simplificada que considera, principalmente, os diálogos estabelecidos entre os convidados evangélicos e os apresentadores dos programas. Essa interlocução é percebida como reflexo dos processos de secularização e desencantamento do mundo, bem como do contexto de midiatização que caracteriza a sociedade contemporânea. Trata-se, sobretudo, da conflituosa relação entre os campos sagrado (representado na figura dos evangélicos) e profano (representado na figura da Rede Globo), duas instâncias de natureza e propósitos distintos que, uma vez postas em contato, necessariamente, precisam lidar com os conflitos e as interdições inerentes a essa relação. Assim, são analisadas as tensões, as negociações e as concessões identificadas nos atos de comunicação estabelecidos entre os evangélicos e a Globo, mostrando que, apesar dos vários pontos em comum encontrados e dos muitos elementos cedidos, não há como sagrado e profano construírem juntos uma mensagem única que satisfaça plenamente os dois campos.

This thesis presents a study of the relationship between test-takers’ first language, listening proficiency and their performance on paired speaking tests. Forty participants from two different L1 backgrounds (20 Urdu and 20 Thai) participated in the study. They took two paired speaking tests: one with a shared L1 partner, and one with a non-shared L1 partner, as well as a listening test and a monologic speaking test to measure their listening ability and individual speaking ability. After each paired speaking test, the participants were also interviewed about their test-taking experience. All speaking tests and interviews were video recorded and transcribed. Raters awarded test-takers analytical speaking test scores (grammar and vocabulary, discourse management, pronunciation and interactive communication) and provided comments to justify their scores. Raters also participated in a stimulated recall session. The mixed-methods approach was utilised in analysing and triangulating different data sources. The data analysed in this study included listening and speaking test scores, raters’ perceptions of the test-takers’ speaking performance gathered from stimulated recalls and test-takers’ stimulated recall interviews, as well as the interactional discourse data in the paired speaking formats. The combination of quantitative analysis, Conversation Analysis (CA) and thematic analysis informed the relationship between test-takers’ listening proficiency, their L1 and their paired speaking performance.
