Based on studies and empirical knowledge about the subject, some questions stand out as guiding elements of the present investigation: how the teacher imagines his classroom and where that imaginary comes from, what he teaches beyond systematized knowledge and if he passes value judgments in this activity. In order to deal with this problematization, it is sought to investigate some conceptions that guide the teacher formation process towards the concepts about "class", "student" and "content". The general objective is to see if there is any gap between what theachers say that a lesson would be and what, in recorded lessons, these teachers have performed as practice. In the perspective of reaching the proposed objective, the research is based on the conception that every sequence of statements offers possibilities of interpretation. Having as theoretical reference the Discourse Analysis of the French Line, the analyzes are based on these theoretical assumptions, such as the notions of Subject and Social, Ideological and Discursive Formation, among others, that are brought to the discussion. The corpus of the research consists of discursive sequences resulting from interviews and class recordings of six teachers from an educational institution. In general, the teacher and the student are considered as representatives of determined places in the structure of a social formation, which allows constructing interpretations without the pretension of generalizations.

Produção de sentido em contexto escolar : o atravessamento da ideologia na paráfrase discursiva / Production of meaning in school context : the role of ideology in discursive paraphases

Rocha, Julio César Albuquerque da 04 April 2011 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on how ideology works in the discursive paraphrases and silences appearing in texts produced within the school environment by students from a municipal school located in Maceió, Alagoas, during the implementation of a pedagogic project entitled Reorientation of the Evening School System in 2009. The main aim of this research was to investigate the occurrence of paraphrases and silences in the student s discourse as well as the role played by ideology and its relation with subject, ideological formations, meaning effects and product conditions in these discourses/texts. This study made use of a methodology adopted by Athayde Júnior in which discursive sequences called synthesis enunciations were chosen as a basis for the analysis of paraphrastic families, which we called paraphrastic sequences. The very same discursive sequences were used for the observation of the silence occurring in the students discourse. As a result, we detected the work of ideology in the teacher s pedagogic discourse, as a preacher of this discourse, as well as in the students discourse, as a reproducer of it, through their paraphrastic enunciations and their silences. The corpus of this research is made up eighteen texts produced by 9th grade students. The theoretical foundation was based on the postulations by Michel Pêcheux about Discourse Analysis, on Louis Althusser s theories about the Ideological Devices of the State, as well as on factors regarding the influence of the school and the pedagogic discourse on the students discourse.

A study of mother-child and father-child dyads in two playful activities

Heurdier, Julien 24 January 2015 (has links)
Many researchers have studied lexical and pragmatic-discursive particularities of the language that parents use to address their young child. A literature review shows that there are both differences and similarities between mothers and fathers. However, characteristics of the language that parents use for addressing their child have rarely been studied. Moreover, there is a paucity of studies examining the effects on the child’s syntactic development of dialogue, speech genres and activities during which parent-child dyads interact. This thesis has three goals: i) improve understanding of differences and similarities in the syntactic and pragmatic-discursive aspects of maternal and paternal language and their effect on the child’s language, ii) evaluate the effect of the ongoing activity on the production and the use of mother-child and father-child dyads, iii) investigate the relation between syntactic and pragmatic-discursive dimensions during the language learning process.Seven 3-4 years old native French-speaking children and their parents were observed during two activities: a symbolic play and a picture card game. The syntactic dimensions of their productions were analyzed while considering certain discursive and pragmatic properties related to the use of these productions (status of the child’s interlocutor, type of activity and pragmatic-discursive aspects). Our results suggest that the status of the child’s interlocutor, associated with the type of activity and the dialogue’s specificities, form a body of variables that should be taken into account in order to better describe children’s syntactic uses and their variability.
