Domácí násilí a jeho prevence / Domestic violence and its prevention

Koblížková, Hana January 2016 (has links)
Domestic violence is a vast and grave social problem which pervades the whole society. In my diploma thesis, I follow it up because of its complexity as well, since it comes not only under the field of law and criminology but also psychology and sociology. It was necessary to define domestic violence as a term in the first part of the thesis, and to describe its characteristics which are constancy of aggressor and victim roles, escalation, cyclicity, continuation and repeatability. I deal with impacts of domestic violence on the society as a whole, and present a brief perspective on coping with this issue abroad. Furthermore I look into myths floating around about domestic violence because they show the public's attitude to domestic violence, and in my opinion, that plays an important role for setting the prevention appropriately. The second chapter of the diploma thesis relates to criminological aspects of domestic violence. Successively it concentrates on incidence of domestic violence, its typology, perpetrators and victims, emphasizing exactly the victimological part including the specifics of particular victim groups. The next chapter of the thesis contains an overview of previous development of the legislation in the field of protection against domestic violence. In the fourth part of the diploma...

Polenová, Jaroslava January 2014 (has links)
Title: Domestic violence and its prevention Abstract The purpose of my thesis is to analyze the issues of domestic violence, outline the basic characteristics of its essential aspects and focus on preventive measures of protection against domestic violence, especially the applicable legislation of the Czech Republic. The paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter contains the characteristics of domestic violence as a criminological concept. At first there is a definition of the phenomenon of violence as the intentional act involved in the maltreatment and abuse. The second subchapter presents actual domestic violence which is explained by a description of its elements, types and forms, its process, method of identifying and documenting its causes. Chapter One concludes with a part regarding myths prevailing in the society about domestic violence. The following chapter focuses on violent persons and endangered individuals by domestic violence. The aim of this chapter is to describe the profile of both actors regardless of the gender expectations. Subchapter relating to endangered individuals includes the definition of victim and further discusses long term psychological consequences of abuse and specific groups of endangered individuals. The third chapter deals with the current legislation which...

Effects of Education on Victims of Domestic Violence

Anderson, Julette N. 01 January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this project was to improve support for victims of domestic violence. To that end, this project developed an evidence-based program to provide information about domestic violence including safe and confidential ways to seek assistance, rights as cohabiting intimate partners, and the resources available to community members. Several approaches were used to develop, validate, and plan for implementation and evaluation of this program, which was developed for 3 sites in Broward and Miami-Dade counties where the project is situated. The program logic model and the social ecological model, including the individual, relationship, community, and societal levels, were used to guide this project. In addition, scholarly works from 2000 to 2013 were selected from ProQuest, CINAHL, Ebscohost, Medline, and Ovid Nursing Journals to develop this program in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of 7 community stakeholders including a physician, advanced practice nurse, law enforcement officer, pastor, and 3 recovery center directors with knowledge in these areas. Content validation involved incorporating feedback from the project team. The target population for the project includes women and men aged 18 or higher who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness, and drug addiction. Community operationalization of the initiative will be facilitated by implementation and evaluation plans developed as part of this project. The project includes community education that may help organize events and campaigns, increase domestic violence awareness among community members, and influence policy regarding issues pertaining to domestic violence.

An evaluation of the handling of domestic violence cases in the Alice cluster by South African Police Service officials

Sonjani, Thembisile Baker 03 1900 (has links)
The study used a qualitative and quantitative approach in evaluating the handling of domestic violence cases in the Alice cluster by the South African Police Service officials. Fifty SAPS officials and twenty victims of domestic violence participated in the research study. Forty cases of domestic violence and four inspection reports by the Eastern Cape Evaluation Service from the Alice cluster were also consulted which served to confirm the responses from the respondents. Questionnaires and interviews were utilized for data collection. The research study revealed that SAPS officials were not properly trained in domestic violence, as a result domestic violence cases were not handled according to the Domestic Violence Act. Some domestic violence victims expressed their dissatisfaction with the handling of their cases. The suggested recommendations include adequate training necessary for SAPS officials to improve service delivery to the victims of domestic violence and proper supervision by the station management. / Police Practice / M.Tech.
