Τάγαρης, Αθανάσιος 30 December 2014 (has links)
This thesis is an analysis and modeling of a PV and a wind system connected to the network. Within this context, we have in particular the energy obtained through wind, wind energy - that has highlighted with rapid growth in recent years, including in Brazil, mostly in the Northeast, due to it s benefit-cost between the clean energies. In this context, we propose to compare the variable structure adaptive pole placement control (VS-APPC) with a traditional control technique proportional integral controller (PI), applied to set the control of machine side in a conversion system using a wind generator based on Double-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). Robustness and performance tests were carried out to the uncertainties of the internal parameters of the machine and variations of speed reference.

Cortes, David Joel Figueroa 27 June 2014 (has links)
Nowadays, wind power is one of the most accepted renewable energy sources, and its penetration in electrical power systems is increasing considerably. Consequently, the participation of wind turbines in electrical power systems has increased and may influence the overall power system behavior. It is therefore important to study the performance of wind turbines in electrical power systems and their interaction with other generation equipment and loads. The main objective of this dissertation is to determine the dynamic performance of different wind turbines technologies connected in electrical system considering different penetration levels and electrical perturbations by simulations performed using a Matlab/Simulink toolbox, SimPowerSystems. The assessed technologies are (a) double fed induction generator with unity power factor, (b) double fed induction generator with voltage control, (c) squirrel cage induction generator with capacitor-based compensation, and (d) squirrel cage induction generator without ancillary devices. The technical factors analyzed are steady-state voltage profile, the dynamics during voltage sags and swells, short-circuit currents, and gradual increase in the system loading, in order to check the network small-disturbance voltage stability. A strategy to promote an effective integration of wind turbines into the power systems with high levels of wind power penetration regarding different grid code requirements in transmission and distribution networks is proposed. The objective in this strategy is fulfilling the grid code requirements with a technology combination, minimizing the invested value. The effects on power system stability of the wind farm, found by the proposed methodology, are compared with the effects that have the same installed capacity of wind power but only considering double fed induction generators with voltage control. The IEEE 9 bus transmission system and the IEEE 30 bus system are regarded for the analysis performed in this work.

Contribution to adaptative sliding mode, fault tolerant control and control allocation of wind turbine system / Contribution à la commande par modes glissants adaptative et tolérantes aux défauts : Application au système éolien

Liu, Xinyi 25 November 2016 (has links)
The main challenges for the deployment of wind energy conversion systems (WECS) are to maximize the amount of good quality electrical power extracted from wind energy over a significantly wide range of weather conditions and minimize both manufacturing and maintenance costs. Wind turbine's efficiency is highly dependent on environmental disturbances and varying parameters for operating conditions, such as wind speed, pitch angle, tip-speed ratio, sensitive resistor and inductance. Uncertainties on the system are hard to model exactly while it affects the stability of the system. In order to ensure an optimal operating condition, with unknown perturbations, adaptive control can play an important role. On the other hand, a Fault Tolerant Control (FTC) with control allocation that is able to maintain the WECS connected after the occurrence of certain faults can avoid major economic losses. The thesis work concerns the establishment of an adaptive control and fault diagnosis and tolerant control of WECS. After a literature review, the contributions of the thesis are:In the first part of the thesis, a nonlinear uncertain model of the wind energy conversion system with a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is proposed. A novel Lyapunov-based adaptive Sliding Mode (HOSM) controller is designed to optimize the generated power. In the second part, a new output integral sliding mode methodology for fault tolerant control with control allocation of linear time varying systems is presented. Then, this methodology has been applied in order to force the wind turbine speed to its optimal value the presence of faults in the actuator.
