Online Group-Buying Join Intention in Virtual Community

Lin, Yu-Chun 09 September 2009 (has links)
With the rapid growth of virtual communities, more and more group-buying are now held within the communities. However, no study discusses the effect of virtual communities on group-buying. Comparing to other transaction modes, it is easier for consumers to aggregate their demands in virtual communities. The coherence and trust among community members, at the same time, further reduce potential risks in transactions. This study aims to understand factors that affect consumer intentions to join group-buying within the virtual communities and to develop a comprehensive framework. The results indicate that perceived trust in group-buying initiator and perceived trust in other community members are the main factors that influence consumers¡¦ intention to join. Their perceived risk, at the same, has no significant effect. Furthermore, consumers¡¦ involvement in the virtual community has the most effect on their perceived trust in initiators while their perceived trust in other members and the perceived expertise of the initiator are also critical factors. The results implies that the trust among members, which is resulted from their intense interactions, is the key factor of group-buying. The expertise of initiator, meanwhile, is not the critical determinant of group-buying.

Sociala medier och köpbeslut : en studie inriktad på sociala mediers inflytande på konsumentensköpbeslut / Social Media and Purchase Decisions : a study focused on the influence of social media onconsumer buying decisions

Pondro, Izabelle, Olofsson, Isabell, Bibaj, Donjeta January 2020 (has links)
This essay is about how social media affects Swedish consumers purchasing decisions. New social media services such as Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram have gained a growing popularity among people. Intensive technology development has helped consumers to make their purchases in a variety of ways. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate how social media affects consumers purchasing decisions in relation to how consumers use social media when purchasing clothing products. The method approach chosen to be used is a quantitative method consisting of a survey. A selection was made where only women in the ages 20-50 have been studied. Finally, the results of the survey are reported. The result has been coded thru SPSS to clarify the relationships between the variables. The theory chapter seeks to provide a picture of the general impact that can occur in the consumers buying journey. As a result, the main theory, Instagram, the online buying process and e-WOM, which form the basis of the survey, are presented. Finally, the study's research model and how the different theoretical parts are connected are presented. Two hypotheses have also been developed to test whether a relationship exists between them. The results of the survey show that there are more options for purchasing ready-to-wear clothing online, where the consumers value availability, prices, convenience and information research when making the purchase. The respondents in the survey show that these features influence their purchasing decisions and that needs are the most important part of the buying process on Instagram. In addition, the study’s findings indicate that consumers' tendency toward impulse purchases has evolved using social media, such as Instagram. A conclusion is drawn, which shows that consumers active participation for entertainment on Instagram leads to them being exposed to advertisements and discounts that increase their buying desire and possible purchasing decisions.

Finding the CSR Sweet Spot : Establishing a Measurement for the Consumer Demand for CSR

Annell, Jonas, Terman, Felix January 2016 (has links)
The concept of CSR is increasingly important in society, and firms are expected to be profitable while ethical. Deciding how to best engage in CSR activities can be difficult, but using a supply-and-demand framework can help firms to maximize their CSR activities. However, the demand for CSR has been proven difficult to measure, but can perhaps be established when dividing the demand into different components. The purpose of this study is therefore to investigate how consumer awareness, attitude, and buying behavior, in relation to CSR, affect each other; to establish a measurement for consumer demand for CSR. To find an answer, an explanatory and a deductive research approach was used and consumers were surveyed in a quantitative study to establish a measurement for the consumer demand for CSR. This study provides both managerial and theoretical implications to the field of CSR. The theoretical implication lies in contributing empirical evidence into the discussion of supply-and-demand for CSR. Practically, this study informs managers, in the fast fashion industry, that consumer attitude can be used as a measurement when establishing the consumer demand for CSR. It is suggested for future research that it would be interesting to use other control variables to further elaborate on the findings of this study.

The effect of corporate social responsibility on consumers buying decisions : An empirical study of a Swedish grocery retailer

Hellqvist, Erik, Malmström, Hans-Magnus January 2016 (has links)
Aim: The aim of this study is to analyze how CSR affects consumer behavior and how consumers are affected by, act on and behave as a result of the CSR strategies implemented by Coop grocery stores. If people are aware, have knowledge and what they know about Coop´ CSR work will be analyzed and compared with the help of survey investigations conducted in both Stockholm and Gävle. Like most big food retailers, Coop has a stated policy, but we will investigate if their CSR work makes a difference and if so - how, in the mind of the consumers. Method: A survey with 16 questions was constructed and these questions were adjusted to previous research made about CSR and its impact on the consumers and their buying decision process. The data was collected at the entrance of two Coop food retails stores, one in Gävle and the other in Stockholm. People that were at least 18 years of age were asked to participate. A total of more than 200 questioners added together in both cities were willing to participate. The data was analysed with the help of the statistical analyse program SPSS, where a regression analysis was made which we combined with a thematic analysis. Result and Conclusion: Our research indicates that consumer doesn't engage in the grocery stores work with CSR. Consumers do consider the ecological assortment but they find the price to be an obstacle when it comes to actually buying ecological products. Our study shows that there is no link between buying ecological products and loyalty towards Coop. For Coop to sell more ecological products, we suggest they should lower the prices or increase the knowledge among consumers to motivate a higher pricing. Suggestion to further research: Our study could easily be made on other food retail stores as it would be interesting to investigate if and how the end results would differ. Contribution of thesis: Our thesis gives Coop the opportunity to evaluate their CSR work and more importantly, its impact on its consumers, where suggestions are made on how to improve their CSR strategy.

The demand for One-click purchases

Jacobsson, Elvira January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to investigate consumers’ attitudes against the technique one-click purchasing. One-click purchasing is a method allowing the customers to transact a purchase with only one click. The customer has entered the payment information necessary to complete the purchase at a previous occasion. Within the next buying opportunity, the customer can purchase products with one single click. The analysis and conclusions is based on both primary and secondary sources. The primary sources represent the result of a questionnaire performed with 200 respondents. The top findings in this study are that the one-click purchasing method is used on a regular basis and most of the consumers’ trust that the method correctly cares for personal information. However the conclusion is that the demand of the method is not high and it seems like the consumers does not care if the method is available upon payment completions or not.

Industrial Buying Behavior in the Waste-to-Energy Market : A Case Study in Germany

Klinkmann, Lars Hendrik January 2016 (has links)
Abstract Waste-to-Energy power generation describes the process of incinerating solid waste. The produced heat is used to drive a power generation unit generating electric energy or for direct district heating. Waste-to-Energy is a viable method to treat solid waste and to produce energy. The Waste-to-Energy power generation market has significantly grown throughout the past decade. This is rather based on an increasingly important waste management issue than on higher demands for energy. Even in light of a growing market, literature concerned with the customers’ buying behavior and customer motives in the process of industrial buying in this segment is very limited. Therefore, this study investigates these aspects in further detail and determines patterns in the Waste-to-Energy market in Germany. This research project solves and fills the problem and knowledge gap concerned with the affecting factors, influences and drivers in industrial buying in Germany. Since this is a very global perspective and exceeds the capacities of this study, more specific aspects such as the buying centers, buying situations or supplier selection criteria are assessed.Pursuing an approach on the philosophical stances of constructivism and interpretivism, this research topic has been approached by conducting phone interviews with representatives from power plant operators and public authorities. These representatives mostly fill positions in purchasing and environmental departments, among others.A number of Waste-to-Energy power plants in Germany have been investigated by interviewing individuals involved in the planning, purchasing and construction process. The information they provided on the topics of the plants’ backgrounds, buying centers, customer motives, buying decision phases and buyer-seller relations have been analyzed in order to draw conclusions and to answer the research questions. It has emerged from this research study that the Waste-to-Energy power plants investigated were built primarily in order to solve waste management issues and not to produce energy. In these cases, power generation is just a byproduct of the waste incineration. Furthermore, it has evolved that constructions of power plants are rolled out as new tasks or modified re-buys, but never as straight re-buys. Additionally, buyers do not only focus on suppliers’ characteristics such as their pricing and their products’ quality, but also on their financial situation and performance, capability to meet deadlines and environmental impacts.
