無 / In this article, a two-step process is considered to investigate the effects of measurement errors on EWMA and cause-selecting EWMA control charts. At the end of current process, a pair of imprecise measurements of in-coming quality and out-going quality is randomly taken with individual units. The linear relationship between in-coming quality and out-going quality is assumed and four possible states of the process are defined with respective distributions of in-coming and out-going qualities derived. The EWMA control chart with measurement error is then constructed to monitor small-scale shift in mean for the previous process while the cause-selecting control chart, or EWMA control chart based on residuals, including measurement error, is proposed to diagnose the state of current process. Based on sensitivity analysis, the presence of imprecise measurement diminishes the power of both the EWMA and the proposed control charts and affects the detectability of process disturbances. Further, applications of proposed control charts are demonstrated through a numerical example to show some possible misuses of control charts. If the process mean shifts in a small scale when a single assignable cause occurs on each step, the proposed cause-selecting control chart is more sensitive than other control charts. The Hotelling T^2 control chart is also compared to illustrate the diagnostic advantage outweighed by proposed cause-selecting control chart.

最大利潤下規格上限與EWMA管制圖之設計 / Design of upper specification and EWMA control chart with maximal profit

The determination of economic control charts and the determination of specification limits with minimum cost are two different research topics. In this study, we first combine the design of economic control charts and the determination of specification limits to maximize the expected profit per unit time for the smaller the better quality variable following the gamma distribution. Because of the asymmetric distribution, we design the EWMA control chart with asymmetric control limits. We simultaneously determine the economic EWMA control chart and upper specification limit with maximum expected profit per unit time. Then, extend the approach to determine the economic variable sampling interval EWMA control chart and upper specification limit with maximum expected profit per unit time. In all our numerical examples of the two profit models, the optimum expected profit per unit time under inspection is higher than that of no inspection. The detection ability of the EWMA chart with an appropriate weight is always better than the X-bar probability chart. The detection ability of the VSI EWMA chart is also superior to that of the fixed sampling interval EWMA chart. Sensitivity analyses are provided to determine the significant parameters for the optimal design parameters and the optimal expected profit per unit time.

Studies in the electrocardiogram monitoring indices.

An recent finding shows that heart rate data possess self-similar property, which is characterized by a parameter H, as well as a long range dependent parameter d. We estimate H by the EBP(Embedded Branching Process) method to derive the fractional parameter d in the first part. The heart rate and R-R interval data are found to have high differencing parameter(d=0.8 ~0.9) and against the normality assumption. Thus the heart rate and R-R interval data are first fractionally differenced of order 0.5 to achieve stationarity. In the second part, we analyze the RR-interval data on the physionet and obtain the long range parameters. After fractionally differencing 0.5 order, the EBP method is adapted to estimate the long range parameter d. The EWMA and EWRMS control charts of the I(d) processes are constructed to monitor the heart rate mean level and variability, respectively for the 18 RR-interval data sets from the physionet. For the EWMA control chart the out of control percentages are chosen to the nominal probability. However, the out of control percentages are affected by the skewness and kurtosis of the process distribution for the EWRMS control carts. Generally speaking, the I(d)-EWMA and I(d)-EWRMS control charts provide a proper monitor system for heart rate mean level and variability.

Gráficos de controle têm sido amplamente utilizados na manufatura para melhoria de processos. Diversas abordagens tem sido propostas para melhorar o desempenho dos gráficos existentes na literatura. Além disso, o uso de gráficos de controle tem se estendido para outras áreas, tais como, economia, finanças, medicina, etc. O objetivo deste trabalho é comparar o gráfico CUSUM com o gráfico EWMA para monitoramento do número diário de internações hospitalares. Para tanto, utilizou-se uma série histórica de internações devido a doenças respiratórias para a população acima de 65 anos. Um modelo linear foi ajustado considerando que o número de internações segue uma distribuição Binomial Negativa. São simulados diversos cenários de mudança no número médio de internações e utilizando diferentes estatísticas baseadas em transformações, é feita uma comparação entre estes gráficos. Verifica-se que o gráfico EWMA com limite de controle assintótico possui desempenho muito similar ao gráfico CUSUM. Já o EWMA implementado com limite de controle exato apresenta melhor desempenho em relação ao gráfico CUSUM quando se atribui pesos menores aos dados atuais. / Control charts have been widely used for process improvement in manufacturing. Analysis of Taiwan Stock Exchange high frequency transaction data

Taiwan Security Market is a typical order-driven market. The electronic trading system of Taiwan Security Market launched in 1998 significantly reduces the trade matching time (the current matching time is around 20 seconds) and promptly provides updated online trading information to traders. In this study, we establish an online transaction simulation system which can be applied to predict trade prices and study market efficiency. Models are established for the times and volumes of the newly added bid/ask orders on the match list. Exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) method is adopted to update the model parameters. Match prices are predicted dynamically based on the EWMA updated models. Further, high frequency bid/ask order data are used to find the supply and demand curves as well as the equilibrium prices. Differences between the transaction prices and the equilibrium prices are used to investigate the efficiency of Taiwan Security Market. Finally, EWMA and cusum control charts are used to monitor the market efficiency. In empirical study, we analyze the intra-daily (April, 2005) high frequency match data of Uni-president Enterprises Corporation and Formosa Plastics Corporation.
