Social Determinants of Health and Economy: the Global Financial Crisis 2007/08 and its impact on well-being of Europeans / Sociální determinanty zdraví a ekonomiky: Globální finanční krize 2007/08 a její dopad na blahobyt Evropanů

Scheier, Samuel January 2014 (has links)
Objective Objective of this study was to investigate the impact of the recent economic crisis of 2007/2008 on the subjective well-being and health status in thirteen European countries. Methods The European Social Survey (ESS) database was searched for individual health and wellbeing indicators and the database of the European Commission Eurostat for economic indicators. Data representing social determinants like education, housing and employment status and others before, during and after the crisis were retrieved. Eurostat data were used to analyse economic indicators and health outcomes on country level. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the changes in the different parameters over time. Regression analysis was performed to demonstrate relations between subjective well-being and different social determinants. Results Between 2006 and 2012 all countries experienced changes in their populations' subjective well-being. From 2006 to 2010 (crisis) the number of people with good or very good subjective well-being increased in France, Ireland, Belgium and Portugal by 0.6%, 1.0%, 1.2% and 6.5%, respectively. In Denmark and Spain this number remained basically stable. In Sweden, the United Kingdom, Finland and Germany the percentage of the population with good or very good subjective well-being decreased by 1.1%, 2.7%, 1.7% and 2.8%, respectively. Regression analysis demonstrated a significant relation between good and very good subjective well-being and level of education, main activity during the last 7 days, satisfaction with life, satisfaction with household income, main source of household income, gender and age. This relation differed for various factors and countries. In none of the countries satisfaction with national health services and satisfaction with current state of economy within the country was found significantly related to subjective well-being. The main amendable determinant correlating with a higher degree of subjective well-being is good education. The correlation between education and subjective well-being got stronger after the crisis than before or during the crisis. Conclusion Economic development does not have a uniform impact on subjective well-being. Education is a major amendable determinant influencing individual well-being. We could not find evidence for any significant impact of the organization of the healthcare services or social system on the subjective well-being.

Fialová, Karolína January 2012 (has links)
This thesis focuses the financing of non-governmental organizations. The main part is devoted to financial sources which can use Czech non-profit organizations (NGOs). Fundraising is how NGOs get financial and non-financial support. The practical part consists of an analysis of financial sources and survey among NGOs. The aim is to analyze selected changes that influence non-profit organizations and their fundraising activities. An economic crisis had a significant impact on non-profit organizations. It has slightly changed the structure of financial resources. Although there was an increase in own revenues, government grants are still the dominant source. Importance of European funds also grows. The new Civil Code which came into force on 1 January, 2014 can strengthen individual and corporate donations.

Vliv hospodářské krize na zaměstnanost a nezaměstnanost / Impact of the economic crisis on employment and unemployment

Jindra, Petr January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this diploma thesis is complex analysis of labour market in the Czech Republic since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, with the emphasis on the critical years 2008-2012. The object of the analysis is the investigation of labour market indicators by trend analysis and standard errors, assessment of the hypothesis about volatility of labour market, determination of strong and weak labour market indicators, further the comparison with countries, which succeeded during the economic crisis, and some possible steps, which would lead to stabilization of the Czech labour market. Finally I investigate if the ruling political parties affect the economy (unemployment rate and inflation) in order to increase their chances of being re-elected by using the linear regression. In conclusion the labour market indicators are very volatile, although the Czech labour market is in good condition in comparison with other countries in the European Union. The political business cycle research shows that it does not occur in the Czech Republic, but this can be caused by the transformation period and the short time series.

Změna v ekonomické governance EU po zavedení MIP / Change in the EU Economic Governance after introduction of the MIP

Kursa, David January 2013 (has links)
The main aim of the Thesis is to evaluate the impact of introduction of so called Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure (MIP) on the european economic governance system. This procedure was adopted as one of many measures by which the EU has responded to the economic crisis. The crisis has fully revealed, inter alia, inadequate coordination of economic policies in the EU. For a long time has been the tighter form of the coordinaton focused only on indicators of fiscal discipline. The first chapter of this thesis provides an explanation of the concept of european economic governance and its development since the signing of Treaty of Rome. The second chapter is devoted to the development and impact of the economic crisis in the EU and the measures that have been adopted at EU level in order to improve european economic governance. The core of the thesis is the third chapter which focuses on the analysis of development of indicators monitored during MIP. The fourth chapter provides an overview of the aspects that are newly included in European economic governance thanks to MIP.

O conceito de crise em Marx e a época imperialista / Marx's concept of crisis and the imperialist epoch

Tonelo, Iuri, 1988- 26 August 2018 (has links)
Orientador: Ricardo Luiz Coltro Antunes / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-26T10:02:22Z (GMT). This paper has as its point of departure the research about the concept of capitalist crisis in the thought of Karl Marx, in whose main work, The Capital, we focus the study (particularly books first, second and third). The study had in its purpose trace a parallel between the concept of crisis in Marx with elaborations after The Capital, dialoguing directly with this work, with the object of demonstrating the existence of a theoretical continuity between Marx's thought and some of his successors, mainly the generation of russian marxists which elaborated the theme in the first two decades of the tweentieth century - taking into account that this theoretical continuity didn't present itself as a dogmatic reproduction of Marx's theses, but as a development of the tendencies appeared in the 1867 work, gaining historical form particularly in the turn of the tweentieth century with the advent of imperialism as a capitalist epoch. To turn the analysis concrete, we made a brief study of the conclusions in the first inquiry in the light of an expressive political phenomenon of the epoch, the First World War, trying to present its interpretation in light of the economic e social theory of marxism, relating with the problematic of capitalist crisis. In conclusion, our intention was to: a) to systematize an interpretation of crisis in Marx and b) to demonstrate its theoretical continuity in tweentieth century marxism in light of a historical event, the First World War, contributing with the studies over this theme, offering a reading which allows a penetrating comprehension of the relation between The Capital and further studies / Mestrado / Sociologia / Mestre em Sociologia

Evropská komise jako aktér při řešení krizí / The European Commission as an actor during the crises solutions

Čermák, Miroslav January 2021 (has links)
More than ten years after the largest economic crisis, which stroke the European Union in 2008 and thoroughly tested its readiness and ability to act, Europe was hit by a global pandemic of COVID-19. Because of this crisis, the European Union and its institutions faced a number of challenges, stemming from unprecedented measures imposed to tackle it. In contrast with the economic crisis, it was not only the European industrial and financial sectors but also more segments, essential to the functioning of the European Union itself, which were affected by the recent crisis. The aim of this thesis is to point out the differences of impacts of the two crisis and to find out the role played by the European Commission during the process of dealing with them.
