Trata-se de investigação teórico-bibliográfica e empírica que buscou discutir o processo de formação ética do jovem educando e a construção de sua identidade. Foi efetuada na intenção de contribuir para a formação ética do educando tendo como ponto de partida uma reflexão sobre a ética e os valores significativos, tal como são recebidos e compreendidos por eles através do processo educacional. A investigação empírica realizada com jovens do Ensino Fundamental possibilitou confrontar os dados obtidos com a revisão bibliográfica concernente ao tema, a fim de verificar quais valores as escolas deveriam trabalhar para concorrer com a realidade extra-escolar e quais atitudes, habilidades, competências devem ser almejadas no processo educacional diante da crise de valores éticos que a sociedade globalizada vem sofrendo no limiar do século XXI. / The following work is the result of a doctorate research carried out at the Post Graduation Program in Educação Escolar at UNESP of Araraquara. It consists of a theoretical-bibliographical and empirical investigation aimed at discussing the adolescent's process of ethical formation as well as the formation of his identity. Its overall intention was to contribute to the young learner's ethical formation from the starting point of a reflection of ethics and significant values, as they are received and understood by these young learners through the educational process. The empirical investigation carried out with Ensino Fundamental school young learners allowed us to confront the data collected with the bibliography on this theme, with the aim of pointing out both the values schools should work on to face the reality outside school and attitudes, abilities and competences that should be desirable in the educational process in the context of a crisis of ethical values that has been affecting globalized society in this early XXI century.
