Defesa: Curitiba, 18/12/2014 / Inclui referências / Resumo: Esta dissertacao apresenta uma analise sobre a cobertura eleitoral em 2012 do jornal impresso Folha de Londrina sobre as eleicoes municipais para prefeito de Londrina. Os dados da cobertura eleitoral foram coletados no periodo de 1° de agosto ate 28 de outubro de 2012. O trabalho tem por objetivo identificar qual a visibilidade que o jornal deu aos candidatos em sua cobertura jornalistica. A metodologia utilizada e quantitativa e de analise de conteudo e permite identificar o numero de citacoes dos candidatos nas materias, a visibilidade dos candidatos e dos temas das materias durante o periodo eleitoral, os enquadramentos atribuidos a estas reportagens e valencia para as candidaturas. Assim, partindo do principio da importancia da cobertura jornalistica em periodos eleitorais esta pesquisa pretende responder a seguinte pergunta: qual o padrao de cobertura que o jornal Folha de Londrina adotou no periodo eleitoral de 2012? Os resultados demonstram que a Folha de Londrina deu maior visibilidade ao candidato e ex-prefeito Homero Barbosa Neto (PDT), investigado pelo Ministerio Publico, que acabou cassado no final de julho de 2012. Estes dados apontam que houve uma cobertura majoritariamente negativa para o ex-prefeito investigado, em virtude dos escandalos politicos recentes que envolveram a prefeitura de Londrina. Eleicoes 2012. / Abstract: This dissertation presents an analysis of the election coverage in 2012 of the print newspaper Folha de Londrina on municipal elections for mayor of Londrina. The electoral coverage data were collected in the period between 1 Aug till October 28, 2012. The work aims to identify what the visibility that the newspaper gave to candidates in their news coverage. The methodology is quantitative and content analysis and identifying the number of citations of the candidates in the field, the visibility of the candidates and the issues of material during the election period, the framework assigned to these reports and valence to the nominations. So, assuming the importance of news coverage in electoral periods this research seeks to answer the following question: what is the coverage pattern that the newspaper Folha de Londrina adopted in the 2012 election period? The results show that the Folha de Londrina gave greater visibility to the candidate and former Mayor Homero Barbosa Neto (PDT), investigated by the public prosecutor, who was impeached in late July 2012. These data indicate that there was a mostly negative coverage to the former Mayor investigated by virtue of recent political scandals involving the city of Londrina. Keywords: Electoral coverage.
