No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2014-11-21 / Despite the active participation of women in the labor market, it is still possible to find few women as engineers. The construction industry presents the suffering of working in a very latent form, which triggers the development of defence strategies to maintain balance. In this space, the engineers, in addition to developing defence strategies to cope with the usual grief still need to deal with limitations imposed to them for being women. This study aims to understand the perception of civil engineers about the factors that limit their participation in the construction industry in Bahia and Ceará, and the defensive strategies that they use do deal whit these limitations. Through a qualitative methodology using content analysis this study not only identified a new form of defence strategy, but also understood the labor market as a hard space for woman engineer professional to position. / Apesar da participação ativa da mulher no mercado de trabalho, ainda é possível encontrar poucas mulheres engenheiras. A indústria da construção civil apresenta o sofrimento do trabalho de uma forma muito latente, o que desencadeia o desenvolvimento de estratégias de defesa para que o equilíbrio seja mantido. Neste espaço, as engenheiras, além de desenvolverem estratégias de defesa para lidar com o sofrimento habitual ainda precisam lidar com limitações que lhes são impostas pelo fato de serem mulheres. Este trabalho se propõe a compreender a percepção de engenheiras civis sobre os fatores que limitam sua participação na indústria da construção civil na Bahia e Ceará, e as estratégias defensivas que utilizam diante desses limitantes. Por meio de uma metodologia qualitativa utilizando a análise de conteúdo este estudo não somente identificou uma nova forma de estratégia de defesa, como entendeu o mercado de trabalho como um espaço árduo para o posicionamento profissional da engenheira.
