In a qualitative approach, this study intends to focus on the race, while the sport accessible and inclusive currently practiced by a growing number of people. The rationale of the study is to identify and understand the participation of the seniors in marathon. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), physical activity is a factor that contributes to the quality of life in elderly. Without disregarding others co-factors that influence the quality of life, the study aims to identify the motivational aspects, the feelings and the changes present in different personal, familiar and social contexts of seniors' participation in marathons / A longevidade tornou-se uma realidade alcançada por um número crescente de pessoas no mundo inteiro. Numa abordagem qualitativa, o presente estudo pretende focalizar a corrida, enquanto modalidade esportiva acessível e inclusiva, atualmente praticada por um número crescente de pessoas. A justificativa do estudo é identificar e compreender a participação desse idoso em maratonas. Segundo a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS-WHO), a atividade física é um dos fatores que contribui para a qualidade de vida de idosos. Nesse sentido, sem desconsiderar outros cofatores influentes na qualidade de vida, o estudo pretende identificar os aspectos motivacionais, os sentimentos e as mudanças presentes nos contextos pessoal, familiar e social desses idosos com a participação em maratonas.
