Η έννοια του εαυτού, με βασικές συνιστώσες την αυτοεκτίμηση και την αυτοαντίληψη έχει κατά τις τελευταίες αποτελέσει αντικείμενο έντονης ερευνητικής δραστηριότητας. Οι παράγοντες που επηρεάζουν τισ δύο αυτές συνιστώσες είναι πολλοί ανάμεσά τουσ και η πολιτισμική ταυτότητα του ατόμου. Όπως είναι γνωστό η κοινωνία μας μετατρέπεται σε διαπολιτισμική με αποτέλεσμα η ανάγκη για περαιτέρω έρευνα να είναι μεγάλη.
Σύμφωνα με τα παραπάνω, η πτυχιακή μου εργασία πραγματεύεται τις έννοιες της αυτοεκτίμησης και της αυτοαντίληψης Ελλήνων και αλλοδαπών μαθητών τησ Ε' τάξης του δημοτικού σε συνάρτηση με τις προσδοκίες των συμμαθητών τους. Επιπρόσθετα αυτό που εξετάζεται στην παρούσα εργασία είναι και ο βαθμός που οι μαθητές αυτοί ανταποκρίνονται στισ προσδοκίες που έχουν από αυτούς οι συμμαθητές τους. / The selfmeaning, with major components selfesteem and selfconcept has been an object of intense research activity during the last decades. There are many factors that infect these two components, such as a person's cultural identity. As it is known, our society turns out to be a multinational society and as a result of that,the need for more research is huge.
According to the paragraph above, this project refers to the Greek and foreign students' selfesteem and selfconcept in relation to their classmates' expectations. In addition, the grade of respons to these expectations will be examined in this project.

This study discusses the self-steem and self-concept perceived by Spanish adolescents through the Millon Adolescent Personality Inventoty (M.A.P.I.). The participants were 342/ 364 adolescent of both sexes between 13 and 18 years, divided into two age groups (13-15 and 16-18 years old). All scored significantly low in self-steeem or self-concept for their development. Results showed that these adolescents were socially unconfortable, annoyed with their school responsabilities, insecure, annoyed with their body image, emotionally weak and exhibited low academic achievement. / Este estudio tiene como objetivo el análisis de la autoestima y del autoconcepto percibido por los adolescentes españoles a través del Millon Adolescent Personality Inventoty (M.A.P.I.). Los participantes fueron 342/364 adolescentes, entre 13 y 18 años, divididos en dos grupos de edades (13-15 y 16-18 años), de ambos sexos, y que de una forma signicativa, perciben su autoestima o autoconcepto poco gratificante para su desarrollo. Los resultados denotan que estos adolescentes se muestran incómodos socialmente, molestos con sus obligaciones escolares, inseguros, fastidiados con su imagen corporal, emocionalmente lábiles y con un inadecuado rendimiento académico.

Tyrimo tikslas nustatyti paauglių, gyvenančių globos įstaigoje, savigarbos, elgesio problemų bei mokymosi motyvacijos sąsajas.
Savigarba yra svarbus veiksnys, sąlygojantis paauglio elgesį bei jo vertybes. Tai labai vertingas bruožas, nuo jo priklauso žmogaus motyvacija ir pasiekimai, socialiniai ryšiai, sveikata ir gebėjimas prisitaikyti, ateities tikslų numatymas. Tyrime dalyvavo 178 respondentai, gyvenantys globos įstaigose: (64 vaikinai ir 114 merginų), kurių amžius buvo nuo 12 iki 18 metų. Tyrime buvo taikomi Rosenberg savigarbos klausimynas, paauglio psichologinio funkcionavimo klausimynas PEA-P1 (VDU, Psichologijos klinika. 2003 © A. Goštautas, R. Pakrosnis, V. Čepukienė) ir mokymosi motyvacijos lygio nustatymo klausimynas (Jolanta Aksamatauskienė 2007 ).
Gauti duomenys išanalizuoti, naudojant kompiuterinę programą SPSS 15. Atliktas paauglių, gyvenančių globos įstaigoje, tyrimas patvirtino elgesio sunkumų ir savigarbos ryšį su mokymosi motyvacija.
Tyrimo duomenų analizė parodė, kad vyresniems paaugliams su žemesne savigarba yra stipriau išreikšti elgesio sunkumai, lyginant su jaunesniais paaugliais, priklausančiais žemesnės savigarbos grupei. Atlikti skaičiavimai atskleidė, kad paauglių ir vaikinų, ir merginų priklausančių žemesnei savigarbos grupei, pastebima žemesnė mokymosi motyvacija. Gauti rezultatai patvirtino, kad aukštesnė mokymosi motyvacija būdinga vyresniems paaugliams su aukštesne savigarba negu vyresniems paaugliams, priklausantiems žemesnės savigarbos... [toliau žr. visą tekstą] / The aim of the study was to determine the associations between self-esteem, behavior problems, and learning motivation among adolescents living in foster homes.
Self-esteem is an important factor that determines an adolescent’s behavior and his/her values. This is a highly valuable feature that serves as a basis for a person’s motivation, achievements, social relationships, health, the ability to adapt, and setting future goals. The study included 178 respondents living in foster homes: (64 males and 114 females); the respondents’ age ranged from 12 to 18 years. The instruments used in the study were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Adolescent Psychological Functioning Questionnaire PEA-P1 (VMU, Clinic of Psychology. 2003 © A. Goštautas, R. Pakrosnis, V. Čepukienė) and the Learning Motivation Level Questionnaire (Jolanta Aksamatauskienė, 2007).
The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS 15 computer software. The study of adolescents living in foster homes confirmed the relationship of their behavior problems and self-esteem with their motivation to learn.
Data analysis showed that older adolescents with lower self-esteem demonstrated more pronounced behavior problems, compared to younger subjects with lower self-esteem. Calculations showed that male and female adolescents in the lower self-esteem group exhibited poorer motivation to learn. The rationale of the study is to identify and understand the participation of the seniors in marathon. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), physical activity is a factor that contributes to the quality of life in elderly. Without disregarding others co-factors that influence the quality of life, the study aims to identify the motivational aspects, the feelings and the changes present in different personal, familiar and social contexts of seniors' participation in marathons / A longevidade tornou-se uma realidade alcançada por um número crescente de pessoas no mundo inteiro. Numa abordagem qualitativa, o presente estudo pretende focalizar a corrida, enquanto modalidade esportiva acessível e inclusiva, atualmente praticada por um número crescente de pessoas. A justificativa do estudo é identificar e compreender a participação desse idoso em maratonas. Segundo a Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS-WHO), a atividade física é um dos fatores que contribui para a qualidade de vida de idosos. Nesse sentido, sem desconsiderar outros cofatores influentes na qualidade de vida, o estudo pretende identificar os aspectos motivacionais, os sentimentos e as mudanças presentes nos contextos pessoal, familiar e social desses idosos com a participação em maratonas.

Perceived Social Support and Suicidal Ideation Scale were conducted to 90 patients with schizophrenia. The results of the study indicated that there was not a significant main effect for suicide attempt on self-esteem, problem solving,problem focused coping, emotion focused coping, indirect coping, social
support and suicidal ideation of patients with schizophrenia. The only variable that significantly predict suicidal ideation found to be self-esteem. The results of the study evaluated and implications of the study were discussed. Finally, limitations of the study and recommendations for future research were

Psychology has a huge role in order to understand and change individuals' attitudes toward global warming issues.ObjectiveOur purpose with the study is to explore cultural differences in attitudes regarding global warming, specifically regarding the importance of global warming issues and regarding modification of behaviors in order to mitigate problems.MethodWith the use of questionnaires a quantitative study was conducted in the two cultures Indonesia and Sweden. Measurements of individualism/collectivism, Locus of control, Optimism and Self-esteem were used as mediating variables between culture and attitudes regarding global warming.ResultIndonesian respondents found global warming issues to be more important, than Swedish respondents. Swedish respondents were more willing to modify their behavior in order to mitigate global warming problems, than Indonesian respondents.

Youths’ transition into adulthood can be challenging, especially when this transition implies acontinuation of education, thus a continuation of the financial dependency in early adulthood.There are an array of developmental tasks and challenges young people go through, and some ofthese tasks can be conflicting: pursuing an academic track versus having financialindependence. These new challenges can impact on youths’ wellbeing.However, having a goodparentalandpeer attachment have been shown to ease these transitions and have positive effectson wellbeing.In this current study we aimed to examine if parental and peer attachment couldsignificantly predict outcomes in psychological wellbeing(i.e., presence of life satisfaction andselfesteemand absence of depression) in university students (Mean age=22.5, SD= 2.0). Theresults showed that parentalandpeer attachment are significantly related to youths’ lifesatisfaction with one exception. Father attachment was not related to youths’ selfesteem.Insummary parentalandpeer attachment do contribute to significant increases in psychologicalwellbeing. / Ungdomars övergång till vuxenlivet kan vara utmanande,speciellt när denna övergång innebär enfortsättning av utbildning, vilket leder till en fortsättning av att vara finansiellt beroende i tidigtvuxenliv. Det finns en mängd utvecklingsrelaterade uppgifter och utmaningar som unga personergår igenom och vissa av dessa uppgifter kan vara motstridande: att gå den akademiska vägeneller vara finansiellt oberoende. Resultaten visade att föräldraochvänanknytning var signifikant relaterat till universitetsstudenters tillfredsställelse med livet.Det fanns dock ett undantag då anknytning till fadern ej var signifikant relaterat till självkänsla. Sammanfattningsvis bidrar föräldraochvänanknytning till signifikanta ökningar i psykologisktvälbefinnande.

The development and evaluation of a measure of graduate employability in the context of the new world of workBezuidenhout, Mareli 08 October 2011 (has links)
Rapid forces for change in the post-modern society have left their mark on the labour market, creating a metamorphosis in the nature of work and the way in which careers should be approached. This has resulted in the need for individuals to possess a combination of attributes that will enable them to take an adaptive, proactive approach to their careers, which involves managing their employability. Employability is especially relevant to graduates, who are expected to acquire more than academic capabilities to ‘hit the ground running’ in their transition from higher education to the workplace. Despite the significance of the topic, it remains conceptually ambiguous with few empirical studies that explain its foundation, and fewer still that have constructed a measure explicitly gauging employability, particularly in South Africa. The main purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a measure of graduate employability in the context of the new world of work. A theoretical model of graduate employability was developed based on an extensive review of the literature and the Graduate Employability Measure (GEM) was subsequently constructed. A cross-sectional survey was utilised to collect data from a random sample of final-year undergraduates and postgraduates from the College of Economic and Management Sciences at a higher distance learning institution in South Africa. The 272 useable questionnaires returned were subjected to exploratory factor analysis, which revealed a reliable three-factor model consisting of the dimensions of career self-management drive, career resilience and cultural competence, and explaining 36.42%, 3.5% and 2.97% of the variance respectively. Analysis of variance was used to determine whether there were any significant differences between the biographical variables of the sample and the GEM factors. It was found that females and final-year undergraduates obtained significantly higher means on all the GEM dimensions than males and postgraduates respectively. The findings inform the conceptualisation of the employability construct, the elements it consists of, and how it can be measured in a valid and reliable manner. The GEM has the potential to be useful to students in a career guidance context, to employers that desire to select and develop highly adaptable employees, and to higher education, which can incorporate these important employability attributes in the curriculum to deliver highly employable graduates. / Dissertation (MCom)--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Human Resource Management / unrestricted
