This thesis deals with ergonomic audit of the workspace and working conditions of a university. First, factors affecting students and researchers are analyzed, with focus on their effects on physical and mental health. Attention is mainly given to the effects of thermal and moisture parameter of air, carbon dioxide concentration, lighting and classroom and office equipment. Level of adaptation of the workspace to the needs of disabled students and faculty is also considered. In the practical part of the thesis, the proposed audit is carried out at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology. Measurements of ergonomic parameters were performed in selected rooms. Based on their results, shortcomings were identified and corrective measures were proposed.

The topic of this master’s thesis is design of a medical ultrasound diagnostic machine. The thesis focuses on a new perspective on composition and shaping of the ultrasound machine while respecting technical and ergonomic requirements. The goal of this thesis is addition of an aesthetic value and incorporation of new technologies so the product is able to compete on the current market.

The topic of my diploma thesis is analysis and design proposal of residential module, which will respect functional, constructional, technological, esthetic and ergonomic regularities. The proposal is focused on new solution of shape of the container type residential module.

The topic of this master’s thesis is design of electric locomotive, more specifically universal independent machine made for pull of personal trains and industrial trains as well. The main aim of this design is to create compact design which follows current estetical trends and fulfill technical and ergonomic needs.

This paper aims at giving answers to the question of how and why mobile device usage patterns differ in China, Germany and the United States of America. Triangulation was chosen as the appropriate research method: qualitative date from focus groups is complemented with quantitative date from an online questionnaire. Firstly, a short overview over past research results on psychological differences between people from different cultures is given. Then, qualitative data gathered in focus groups is presented. Quantitative data on mobile device usage patterns from an online questionnaire in the three countries is presented. About 300 questionnaires were completed and evaluated. Many statistically significant effects from the quasi-variable culture could be found. For example, although almost all participants from all three cultures use mobile devices for communication purposes, the usage frequencies of other functions differ strongly. Cultures differ also in the acceptance of autonomous interventions by a technical system. Probable explanations for these differences and their consequences on HMI design are discussed. / Diese Veröffentlichung soll die Frage beantworten, wie und warum sich die Nutzungsmuster von mobilen Endgeräten in China, Deutschland und den USA unterscheiden. Als angemessene Untersuchungsmethode wurde die Triangulation ausgewählt: Qualitative Daten aus Fokusgruppen werden ergänzt durch quantitative Daten aus einem Online-Fragebogen. Zuerst wird ein kurzer Überblick über bestehende Forschungsergebnisse über psychologische Unterschiede zwischen Menschen aus verschiedenen Kulturen gegeben. Anschließend werden qualitative Daten aus Fokusgruppen und quantitative Daten aus einem Online-Fragebogen über Nutzungsmuster von mobilen Endgeräten präsentiert. Mehr als 300 Fragebögen wurden ausgefüllt und ausgewertet. Viele statistisch signifikante Auswirkungen der Quasi-Variable Kultur konnten gefunden werden. Während beispielsweise fast alle Teilnehmer aus allen drei Kulturen mobile Endgeräte für Kommunikationszwecke nutzen, unterscheiden sich die Nutzungshäufigkeiten anderer Funktionen stark. Die Kulturen unterscheiden sich auch in der Akzeptanz von autonomen Eingriffen durch ein technisches System. Mögliche Erklärungen für diese Unterschiede und deren Folgen für die Gestaltung von Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstellen werden diskutiert.

Mehrseitige Rechenblätter in Mathcad werden leicht unübersichtlich. Die nötige Übersicht kann geschaffen werden, in dem man zusammengehörige Informationen auf Registerkarten zusammenfasst. Über Reiter kann direkt zwischen den einzelnen Karten hin und her gesprungen werden. Derartige Strukturen lassen sich in Mathcad überraschend einfach realisieren. Im Beispiel wird der Entwicklungsingenieur durch die Vorauslegung für ein Ventil geführt.

The master‘s thesis introduces a design of a multipurpose chest of drawers with an emphasis on its modularity. In the theoretical section, the current state of knowledge on the topic is summarized. Overview of a design of the chest of drawers, multifunctional and modular furniture, terminology, ergonomics and norms related to proposed functions are presented. The applied section offers design of the multipurpose chest of drawers that proposes a function of a work table as well as an open storage space. The design was created in compliance with the outlined theory. The outcome of presented work consists of series of visualisations created with the graphic program 3DS Max, technical documentation and constructed prototype.

The subject of this diploma thesis is the structural solution design of folding garden furniture, namely furniture for outdoor use. This solution ensures easy handling when keeping furniture away from bad weather or when not using it during the winter season. Specifically, this is an armchair assembly with a footstool. The armchair has the possibility of positioning the backrest. The furniture is complemented by a dining table for two people and a side table in order to achieve a pleasant stay in the exterior. This design solution was created to fulfill the requirements of a particular company and its production possibilities. The very solution is based on the current range of corresponding garden furniture in the actual European market. Further knowledge was needed in the field of anthropometry, ergonomics, furniture design and material information. The design solution is supported by the standards and technical and safety requirements. The work is supplemented by the drawing documentation, bill of materials, economic evaluation of the material costs and visualizations.

Contents of this work is to design solutions of furniture mobiliary to furnish entrance hall of the house, the design focuses mainly on storage spaces according to client requirements. The theoretical part deals with storage area requirements, commonly used materials, construction, literature research of similar solutions and safety requirements for furniture in the entrance hall. The practical part consists of drawing documentation, bills of materials and visualization of own design solution. An integral part of the work is also economic evaluation that deals only direct material costs.
