In order to do so, the following goals were established: comprehending their first school experiences to identify the factors responsible for the interruption (or privation) of their learning process, and the implications of these factors in the women s comming back to school; understanding the reasons why women with little or no education look for the school environment; identifying the kinds of learning offered by the school and investigating if they had implications in these women s practical lives; discovering if the women are satisfied (in case their lives have been changed by the learning process) and if they noticed the changes or not. This research s main questions: the education of youngsters and adults EJA, initial reading instructions and critical education, and the role destined to women throughout history, were accompanied by theoretical support of authors such as Paulo Freire, Sérgio Haddad, Maria Clara Di Pierro, Ana Maria Freire, Henry Giroux, Cláudia Viana, Joan Scot, among others. Data collection was carried out by means of semi-structured interviews with six learners, 41-58 years old. Data analysis was based upon Paulo Freire s theory, including the categories of oppression, marginalization, conscientiousness, autonomy, among others. We can previously and primarily stand out these women s courage, they still fight to restore rights that have been historically taken from them. / O trabalho de pesquisa abordou a reintegração de algumas mulheres ao meio escolar, educandas do Programa Municipal de Educação de Jovens e Adultos de São José do Rio Preto, procurando-se compreender, neste processo, as suas razões e os seus objetivos da busca pela volta à escola. Para tanto, foram traçados os seguintes objetivos: Conhecer as primeiras experiências escolares dessas mulheres, visando identificar os fatores responsáveis pela interrupção (ou negação) do processo de aprendizado escolar, e suas implicações na presente busca pelo reingresso à escola; conhecer as razões que fazem com que mulheres não/pouco escolarizadas busquem a (re)integração no processo escolar; identificar que tipos de aprendizados a escola lhes tem proporcionado, e averiguar se esses já tiveram implicações na vida prática dessas mulheres; descobrir se há ou não satisfação, por parte dessas mulheres (caso o processo de escolarização tenha propiciado mudanças em suas vidas), em relação ao que elas têm notado a esse respeito. O amparo para as principais questões sobre as quais se fundamenta o trabalho, Educação de Jovens e Adultos- EJA, alfabetização e educação crítica , e o papel que se destinou à mulher ao longo da história, foi proveniente de autores como Paulo Freire, Sérgio Haddad, Maria Clara Di Pierro, Ana Maria Freire, Henry Giroux, Cláudia Vianna, Joan Scott, entre outros. A coleta de dados, então, se deu por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas realizadas com seis educandas, com idade entre 41 e 58 anos. A categorização e análise dos dados foram baseadas na teoria freireana, inclusive por meio de categorias abordadas por Paulo Freire em suas obras, como: opressão, marginalização, conscientização, autonomia, entre outras. O que se pode ressaltar, de antemão, é a coragem dessas mulheres, que permanecem na luta pela restauração de direitos que lhes foram historicamente negados.
