Este fato estimula a recomendação da utilização do vírus no controle e revela a importância de não se perturbar a manifestação natural de fatores bióticos de controle / Abstract: Larvae of Spodoptera frugioera, in the present work, were tested to evaluate their responses to some microbial and chemical insecticides. The larvae of this insect species can be considered as resistant to the action of Cacillus thuringiensis, when applied alone as well as in combinations with parathion or pyrethrum. The resistence of S. frugiperda to B. thuringiensis may be caused by some reasons, all associated with the gastric juice of the insect. B. thuringiensis can not be recommended to the control of S. frugiperda larvae. The combination of pyrethrum with sublethal doses of parathion showed potentiation effect on the larvae. In the field, as well as in the laboratory, populations of S. frugiperda suffered some infectious diseases. These diseases were caused by virus (NPV), fungi (A. parasiticus) and bacteria (P. aeruginosa). This fact stimulates the recomendation to utilize this virus in the control of this insect species, and also shows the importance in protecting the natural biotic mortality factors / Mestrado / Mestre em Ciências Biológicas
