Umění a péče o duši u Jana Patočky / Art and Care of Soul in Jan Patočka

Josl, Jan January 2016 (has links)
Summary: This work approaches Patočka's philosophy of art from the perspective of ‚care of the soul'. The first part of work describes evolution of the ‚care of the soul' in context of Patočka's philosophy of history from he 30s up to 70s. Based on this description I recognize experience of the soul as the experience of human freedom as inseparable from the ethical and methaphysical dimensions. The second part approaches art from this perspective.Patočka's intepretations of art show that Patočka saw art not only as a manifestation of human freedom, but as reflection of human position in the world and his relation to aletheia as well. However, art stays half way between myth and philosophy due to the fact, that the movement of freedom is not as absolute in art as it is in philosophy. This is evident in expressions that art takes from the fields of our emotions and experience and thus still remains for Patočka in connection with the world and our everydayness. Therefore art represents for Patočka only limited experience of the soul. It is mostly the momentum of transcendence that is important and interesting for Patočka in art, but not the results that, no matter how deep, are still insights about the things in the world. Obraz, informace, komplexita. Studium vizuální informace s využitím funkce informační entropie se zaměřením na výtvarnou abstrakci / Image, Information, Complexity. The study of visual information incorporating the function of information entropy with a focus on abstract art

Malečková, Dita January 2017 (has links)
This text focuses on the relation of information and image, hence Information Theory and Image Analysis, as well as visualization of information and methods of visual analytics focusing on analysis of art works. It also concentrates on evolution of digital image and related new type of perception and artificial aesthetics. We narrow the broader topic of the image and image information to the abstract art, namely the work of Czech painter Frantisek Kupka, which is used as input in the experiment presenting original method of image analysis using the function of information entropy (Rényi entropy). This approach was used for the first time for analysis of art works with the aim to obtain the comparaison of natural and artificial classification of image information. We chose the work of abstract art not only with regard to given history of grammatics of abstract forms and its relation to the digital image, but also as an emblematic example of effective gaining of information from complex environment. Work thus summarizes historical context of evolution of digital image and theoretical reflection of contemporary image analytics and others techniques relevant to the image information and emphasizes relation of abstract art to the natural and simulated complexity.

Srovnání práce fotografky Nan Goldin a dnešního uživatele Instagramu / Comparison of photographer Nan Goldin's work with Instagram's users generated photography

Valentová, Marie January 2020 (has links)
Contemporary constantly expanding content of social media like Instagram brings the medium of photography to new contexts. Photography becomes an instrument of immediate communication and its historically defined functions are an object of change. The continuity of Instagram content creating, the personal perspective of its users, the constant presence of camera accompanying them are aspects analogous to the artwork of Nan Goldin. Goldin's photo essay The Ballad of Sexual Dependency (1986)has a character of visual diary that captures the life of her community with almost obsessive continuity. It's also captured from deeply personal perspective depicting intimate moments and describing Goldin's personal relationships. Publishing of The Balladand formation of Instagram is divided by more than twenty-five years and both events and its meanings are profoundly different. This thesis nevertheless presumes that comparison of these, in many aspects alike phenomenons can help describe the change of the function of the media of photography, explore contemporary tendencies in photography aesthetics, the meaning of instagram's content to its users and provide general understanding of the role of shared photography in social and historical context. The methods of comparison are semiotic visual analysis,...

Krajina jako způsob vidění a její kritika / Landscape As a Way of Seeing and Its Critique

Pátek, Filip January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with landscape as a way of seeing, its critique and its defense. The thesis will initially focus on the presentation of the critical concept of ways of seeing by English art critic and writer John Berger. On the basis of this, the thesis will move to the exploration of the critical concepts of landscape and landscape painting by British humanistic cultural geographer Denis E. Cosgrove and American visual theorist and philosopher W. J. T. Mitchell. Subsequently, it will also deal with the relationship of these concepts to the concept of landscape by English historian and art historian Simon Schama. Cosgrove and Mitchell both deal in a similar way with the critical reflection of the idea of landscape in terms of postmodern and postcolonial criticism. Both authors are influenced by Berger's concept and claim that our aesthetic perception of landscape is not a natural vision, but an acquired, historically created way of seeing. This way of seeing then raises a number of questions in relation to the traditional conception of landscape aesthetics and can lead to a rethinking of traditional concepts such as aesthetic attitude, psychical distance or the idea of disinterested pleasure. Opposite to it, the thesis intends to present an optimistic concept of landscape by Schama. The...
