Interakce ve škole: vyjednávání žákovských a učitelských rolí / Interaction at school: negotiation of pupil and teacher roles

Spalová, Jitka January 2017 (has links)
5 ABSTRACT This thesis deals with interaction in educational environment, i.e. mutual interaction between two subjects (teachers and students) and their influence on one another during the educational process, with each participant involved in different social roles, which often require different ways of communication. The theoretical part focuses on the general description of teacher's personality, his authority and his role in pedagogical interaction with students, and on pedagogical communication, which forms the most important part of interaction between the teacher and students. The empirical part is an ethnographic study of the Czech language classes at a secondary school in Rokycany. It is a qualitative research that consists of a subjective description of the studied environment. It focuses on monitoring individual interaction genres in the classroom, how the teacher negotiates her role, creates and maintains authority, when, why, and how students communicate, verbally or non-verbally. The analysis is made on the basis of video recordings of individual hours, interviews with teachers, its reflections on students she teaches and reflections of students on their Czech language teacher. KEYWORDS: Student, teacher, social role, school ethnography, pedagogical communication, teacher's authority

Cesta mantry z Indie do Čech aneb příspěvek k etnografii hudby a globalizace / Journey of Mantra from India to the Czech Republic: Contribution to Ethnography of Music and Globalization

Seidlová, Veronika January 2016 (has links)
This PhD thesis is a multi-sited ethnographical study (Marcus 1995) of globalized world through focusing on the social life (Appadurai 1986) of one of the well-known Vedic mantras (the Gayatri Mantra) as a globalized phenomenon and a commodity. Chanting of mantras (Hindu sacred chants in Vedic Sanskrit; pronunciation, intonation and rhythm of which is prohibited to change in the Brahmanic discourse) which had been a local cultural practice, has become a globally known phenomenon. During the globalizing process of their cultural transmission from India to the West and later to the Czech Republic, the mantras have gained new sound forms, new social and cultural contexts, new functions and new meanings. Contemporary cultural productions of mantras are a thick example how the present inter-continental connectedness works in everyday life, music and in the relationship to the Sacred. Selected places on this trajectory will be sites of the fieldwork. The project will research, how the transmission process happens, what music forms it takes, and what meanings are attached to them by their agents.

"Sport pro rozvoj" v Brazílii: genderová perspektiva / Sport for Development in Brazil: Gendered Perspective

Soares Moura, Eva January 2020 (has links)
The sport for development and peace (SDP) sector has become a fast-evolving field which has received significant academic and public attention. Given the continued commitment to gender equality in the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, sport has been positioned as a vessel for women's empowerment, a term which continues to be the object of much academic debate and dispute. Drawing on feminist theories of development and empowerment, the purpose of this thesis is to explore (a) how young people engage in the development project and (b) to critically examine the potential of such programmes in advancing transformation in gender relations and in offering new opportunities for challenging gender stereotypes inside and outside of sport. This thesis draws upon eleven months of ethnographic research undertaken between 2017 and 2018 in two organizations in São Paulo, Brazil, which use sport-mainly football-to empower women and achieve broader societal objectives within low-income communities. I conducted participant observations and fifty semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, managers, and educators as well as the participants of the projects and their parents. The findings of this research suggest that there is ambiguity regarding the role of sport-for-development (SFD) programmes in...

Autorita a autorství: Let Us Now Praise Famous Men Jamese Ageeho jako dílo fiktokriticismu / Authority and Authorship: James Agee's Let Us Now Praise Famous Men as a Work of Fictocriticism

Childs, Morgan January 2014 (has links)
viii Abstract This thesis uses James Agee's 1941 book Let Us Now Praise Famous Men to examine the role of so-called fictocriticism in emphasizing the immutability of an author from within a text. The thesis argues that the fictocritical text accounts for the impossibility of extricating the author from writing. Although its precursors date back several centuries- perhaps most notably to Michel de Montaigne-the term fictocriticism was coined in the mid- to late twentieth century to describe texts existing at the interstices of ostensibly fictional and factual genres of writing. Agee's text, borne out of a journalistic assignment for Fortune magazine, blends elements of long-form magazine journalism with lyric poetry with the author's famous sprawling, diaryesque prose, calling the reader to question which elements of the text are rooted in fact and which are simply the author's fabrications or, indeed, whether such a distinction can be drawn. The term can be applied only anachronistically to the 1941 book, yet as defined in these pages it is a befitting description of Agee's otherwise unclassifiable text. Fictocriticism lacks a singular definition, so the examination of Agee's Famous Men as a fictocritical work rests on a thorough revision of the term's history and its lexical implications, both of which...

Etnografické a folkloristické aspekty v pracích učitelů východních Čech / Ethnographic and Folcloric Aspects in the Work of Eastern Bohemian Teachers

Tomášová, Jana January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on the generation of committed teachers, regional eastern Bohemia patriotic activists that were interested in ethnography and folklore studies on the amateur level. The first part of the thesis introduces four profession-associates of the same generation, teachers from the end of 19th and the beginning of 20th Century. Subsequent chapters deal with wider cultural-historical context with the emphasis on the history of pedagogy and ethnology. In the thesis there is also the development of homeland studies depicted. These studies were introduced as compulsory at the beginning of 20th Century and were therefore suitable for deepening of the educational role of the school via ethnographical materials. The main focus of the thesis is on the intersection of homeland education and ethnographic activities of mentioned teachers (cooperation with professionals, interest in collecting…) as well as the analysis of their importance to the professional ethnography.
