A escarificação é mais frequente na adolescência em comparação com outros períodos da vida. No período adolescente, a emergência da puberdade desestabiliza as defesas, testando a qualidade do investimento dos limites e a eficácia desempenhada pelas funções do Eu-Pele. Portanto, partiu-se da hipótese de que as escarificações estariam ligadas a patologia do investimento dos limites e a falhas nas funções de manutenção, continência e para-excitação do Eu-Pele. A pesquisa foi realizada com adolescentes com histórico de escarificações, com idades entre 14 e 18 anos, sendo três sujeitos do sexo masculino e sete do sexo feminino. O método utilizado foi o clinico-qualitativo com estudos de caso, seguindo o modelo de grupo único. Foram utilizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas, entrevistas clínicas e o método de Rorschach, segundo a perspectiva de interpretação da Escola de Paris. A análise dos protocolos enfatizou a apreciação da qualidade dos limites e das funções de manutenção, continência e para-excitação do Eu-Pele. Em um primeiro momento, todos os protocolos foram analisados de forma conjunta, em se privilegiando a análise quantitativa do Rorschach. Em um segundo momento, foram discutidos os estudos de caso. Portanto quatro protocolos foram analisados com ênfase na análise qualitativa dos resultados e com a integração das informações coletadas por meio das entrevistas semi-estruturadas e entrevistas clínicas. Segundo os resultados encontrados, seis participantes apresentaram fragilidade do investimento dos limites, enquanto quatro apresentaram sobreinvestimento dos limites. Todos os participantes apresentaram falhas nas funções do Eu-Pele investigadas. Conclui-se a existência de relação entre a patologia do investimento dos limites e falhas nas funções do Eu-Pele com as escarificações. Portanto, recomenda-se que o tratamento psicoterapêutico das escarificações na adolescência objetive por restituir as funções falhas do Eu-Pele e remanejar o modo patológico de investimento dos limites. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This study intends to investigate the quality of Ego-Skin and the level of the boundary investment in adolescents who scarify themselves. The scarification is most common in the adolescence time. The emergence of puberty destabilizes the teenagers’ defenses, testing their effectiveness of boundaries investment and the efficacy of the functions performed by the Ego-Skin. Therefore, we started assuming the boundary pathology and the failures in maintenance, continence and stop-excitement Skin-Ego´s functions are related to the scarification. The survey was conducted with adolescents who had scarification history record, three males and seven females, aged between 14 and 18 years. The clinical-qualitative method with case studies, following the single group methodological perspective was the chosen method. Semi-structured interviews and clinical interviews were applied, besides the Rorschach´s method, analyzed following school of Paris interpretation perspective. The protocols´ analysis emphasized the assessment of the quality of the boundaries and the maintenance, continence and stop-excitement Skin-Ego´s functions. At first, all protocols were analyzed on focusing on the quantitative analysis of the Rorschach. In a second phase, the case studies were discussed by means of the qualitative information gathered by way of the four Rorschach protocols results and the information collected through semi-structured interviews and clinical interviews. According to the results, six participants showed the fragility of the boundaries investment, while four of them showed boundaries limits overinvestment. All participants showed failures on the Skin-Ego functions, as the Rorschach results indicates. We conclude the existence of connection between boundaries investment pathology, defects on the Skin-Ego and scarification. Therefore, if the therapist is able to help the patient to restore his failures on the Skin-Ego functions and pathological boundaries investment mode, treatment would tend to bring successful results related to the scarifications overcoming.
