A view on Russian evangelical soteriology: scripture or tradition

Kouznetsov, Viktor Matveyevich 01 January 2003 (has links)
The Russian Evangelical Soteriology as a phenomenon was evaluated in the dissertation. The original Russian Evangelical confessions of faith and some other historical documents of the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries are used to present the following hypothesis. The historic fluidity of Soteriology of Russian Evangelica1s may only be understood in the light of their consistent adherence to the principles of Sola Scriptura and the Priesthood of all believers. We come to conclusion that the existence of Russian Evangelical Soteriology is not a question to be discussed, but a clear historical fact. We show that it has its past and present, a well-defended subject of study with clear presuppositions, rather developed vision, and it is unique as a phenomenon. The major principles of this theology strictly devoted to the Scripture and a flexible formulation of doctrines. We strongly insist that it is impossible without being eclectic combine the Evangelical Soteriology of Scripture with the Orthodox Soteriology of Tradition. The additional result of the study is the attempt to evaluate the possibility for a reconstruction of Russian Evangelical Soteriology as a part of a self-identification process.

Almeida, Marcos de 31 January 2008 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Marcos de Almeida.pdf: 1007056 bytes, checksum: f101a4615725c62db72b22ea81207269 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-01-31 / Fundo Mackenzie de Pesquisa / This research aims to reflect on the critical situation of our planet, from the Leonardo Boff s theological thought and the evangelical theology perspectives. We are fully aware that the ecological crisis will be expanded in the coming years and the whole world will be a witness of the wrath of a wounded ecosystem. The ecosystem degradation is generated by people themselves. Therefore, there is an urgent need for effective tools that can operate more deeply inside people in order to carry them into a real understanding of effective actions on environmental care. The humankind has chosen the path of competition, that leads to disconnection with the life. People are rationally alienated of its home natural condition. The conclusion is that the educational system has failed on the efficiency of an effective teaching on the preservation and maintenance fields. In this direction, the Religion has to be part of the solution, facing the growing environmental crisis. Here is the challenge, to build a fair and environmentally healthy society. For this, we should reestablish the spirituality as a partner, in a dialogue with the Science. Particularly, we believe the Christianity has the capacity to build a cosmovision, the competence to establish a moral authority, the facility to establish an ample base of members, and the ability to develop communities. Ahead of many theological approaches, the writing of Leonardo Boff on ecology submits a contextualized proposition that deserves attention. In a different way, the evangelical theology proposes an answer to the problem, in order to maintain a pedagogical teaching that holds its bases on the evangelical Christian doctrine. We understand that the Christianity has strength to engage believers in bilateral relationships, and inspire them to live a moral life, and has a tremendous ability to give meaning to life. However, another crisis outbursts, the delay in perceiving the current problem: the planet is dying. Consequently, a huge delay in getting involved on environmental matters, and effectively engaging in the promotion of a sustainable world. A degradação do ecossistema é gerada pelas pessoas.

A comparison of African Evangelicalism with South African Black theology and Indian Dalit theology

Nakah, Victor 06 1900 (has links)
Evangelicals have an unquestionable heritage for involvement in the world and its social problems and the Bible provides a basis for a liberative gospel. For the God of the Bible is not only a God of love and peace, but also of justice and he is therefore on the side of the poor, oppressed and suffering. he has given us a spirit of engagement with the world as salt and light and not escapism. As we give serious consideration to the challenges of liberation theologies, we need to hear the voice who calls his people in every age to go out into the lost and lonely world (as he did), in order to live and love, to witness and serve like him and for him and that is what African Evangelicalism is all about. / Systematic Theology and Theological Ethics / M. Predestination in scriptures and reformation traditions : towards deconstructing paradigms for soteriology in a proposed Cameroon Baptist theological treatise

Kame, Greg Sako 05 1900 (has links)
In the wake of the 19th century, the protestant reformation in Europe that led to the formation of mainline reformation traditions began impacting and shaping ministry in Africa, through missionary activities. But the clarion call for Africa’s renaissance was also a wakeup call for the African church to move from being consumers of the ‘imported’ theology brewed from a European perspective and take some responsibility in producing her own theology, which can be viewed and understood with an African cultural lens. If Africa must achieve the much needed renaissance, the church certainly has an indispensable role to play. But how can there be a meaningful church praxis in African polities without a solid contextualized theological foundation? Therefore in this project, I justify the need for a biblio-centric African theology by making a case for the Cameroon Baptist Convention in the Republic of Cameroon. I argue that, to be able to solidify its foundation and enhance its Christian theological praxis in the society, a Cameroon Baptist Theological Treatise is needed in the Cameroon Baptist Convention. One that would contain well delineated and defended theological tenets required of an independent Christian denomination in Africa. Central to the development of this treatise is the development of a soteriology with a cognitive theological understanding of divine predestination. To develop a correct soteriology for this purpose, a process is required, one that would need to use sound theological principles to ensure a biblically accurate and theologically sound doctrine of soteriology as the point of departure. As an evangelical systematic theological research, I attempt in this project to deconstruct biblical and theological paradigms from scriptures and reformation traditions, which the Cameroon Baptist Convention leaders could use as tools in the process of delineating and defending their own tenets on soteriology in the proposed theological treatise. It begins by gathering data from reformation traditions and scriptures on predestination and moves on to construct theories that would not only help the Cameroon Baptist Convention leaders to develop a soteriology but also be fundamental to developing other relevant doctrines needed in the proposed Cameroon Baptist Theological Treatise.

Basque, Gérard 12 1900 (has links)
While a growing number of Anglo-Saxons evangelicals theologians define themselves as postmodernists, this Master thesis`s first aim is to understand what this means concretely. We will achieve this through the study one of the main reference books on the matter. We put forward that these postmodern theologians are developing a theology in opposition to the fondationalist theology. They also tend to oppose modernity’s absolute assumptions with postmodernism’s relativism. Yet, they argue in favor of a moderate relativism. This theological turn has concrete implication in regards to ecclesial practice, especially within emergent churches. However, these new trends of thoughts and practices are highly criticized by other evangelical theologians, bent on preserving the absolutes inherited from Cartesians, as well as consolidated ecclesial tradition. This Master’s thesis second aim is thus to study and to resume criticism emanating from these other theologians. Since this research is developed within Quebec’s context, we have also delved into Quebec’s evangelical theologians take on postmodernism. This constitutes the third element of this Master’s thesis. From this literature we chose to resume one article that stemmed from a conference presented at a 2007 Montreal convention on emergent churches. We also conducted interviews to understand the ecclesial practices related to emergent churches in the Quebec context. The first interview has been conducted with a Quebec evangelical theologian who has adopted postmodernism. The second interview has been conducted with a small group of members of an emergent church. To conclude, we make a final analysis of the literature brought to bear in this Master’s thesis, and we make our own contribution in favor of a postmodern evangelical theology and postmodern ecclesial practices in Quebec’s context.
