Study of Load Transfer and Outage Restoration for Distribution Systems

Huang, Yu-Hsiung 05 July 2006 (has links)
The distribution system is the downstream of a power system, which is used to provide high reliability and quality electricity service for customers. Because of the wide area with voluminous facilities, involves in a distribution system, the preventive maintenance of distribution system components is important for the distribution system. For a fault contingency, the utility company has to identify the fault location to isolate the fault and to restore the electricity service for the un-faulted but outage area as soon as possible to enhance the service reliability. With the advancement of compute technology, the distribution automatic system (DAS) has been applied to solve the fault contingency problem by integrating the geographic information system (GIS) real time database (RTDB) relational database with master station and communication systems for the monitor and control of distribution systems. To achieve the function of fault detection, isolation and restoration (FDIR) of distribution automatic system, the FDIR software has been developed with C++ platform. By retrieving the distribution system components in GIS, the Topology processor is applied to identify the connectivity of distribution network. When a fault occurs, the fault flags will be generated and retrieved from the field feeder terminal unit (FTU) according to the states of fault flag and network configuration, therefore the fault location is identified very quickly. After isolate the faulted section, the feeder circuit breaker is closed to restore the upstream service. Based on the loading levels of supporting feeders, the downstream restoration is therefore obtained by closing the normal open switch, besides the application software can also be used to derive the optimal switching operation for loading balance of distribution feeders to enhance the operation efficiency of distribution systems.

Study on Fault Restoration Strategy of Distribution Feeders and Main Transformers

Chen, I-Tsung 07 July 2007 (has links)
The demand for electric load in recent years has been growing consistently in Taiwan. Besides supplying the load demand, the electricity service of distribution systems has to be reliable to meet the power quality of high tech industry. For a fault contingency in distribution systems, the fault location has to be identified and isolated by operating the boundary line switches. The electricity service for the un-faulted but outaged area has to be restored by transfering the loading to the neighboring feeders. The service reliability of distribution systems, a comprehensive distribution automation system DAS is implemented by integrating the computer master station, the communication system and the remote controlling equipments. The master station of DAS system to perform the function of fault detection, isolation and restoration (FDIR) can accelerate the process of service restoration for fault contingency. To support the topology process of distribution system network, the outage management system (OMS), which has also been installed in all Taipower districts to store the attributes of distribution components, has been applied in this study. The operating mapping system is created to support distribution system operation by retrieving the static data from the OMS system and the dynamic data of line switch status from the real time database (RTDB). By this way, the distribution system network is updated by executing the network topology processor according to the operation of line switches. In this thesis, a rule-based expert system is developed for fault restoration of distribution systems. To assure the proposed switch operation plan for fault restoration can comply with the distribution system operation regulation in Taipower, all of the feeders with open the switch to each feeder are formulated as a supporting group. The reserve capacity of each supporting feeders is used to compare the loading of unfaulted but outaged sections for downstream restoration. Based on the embeded rule base in the application program, the op line switch plan for fault restoration can therefore be derived for dispatchers engineers to restore the service in a short time period. Besides the FDIR function, the application software can also be used to derive the optimal switching operation for loading balance of distribution feeders to enhance the operation efficiency of distribution systems.

A Multi-Agent Approach for Fault Restoration of Distribution Systems

Su, Chao-ting 08 July 2008 (has links)
With the application of high tech equipments in the industrial, commercial, and residential areas, the enhancement of power quality has become a very critical issue for power utilities. Distribution automation and customer automation will be the most important functions to be implemented. Distribution automation consists of control center, communication system, remote terminal units, and feeder terminal units. The currents, voltages, phase angles, and switch status will be collected by the real time SCADA system. Based on the switch status and connectivity analysis, the distribution network configuration can be identified by executing the topology process. The distribution system planning and optimal operation strategy can be achieved by various application software functions. A multiagent-based distribution automation system is developed for fault detection, isolation, and restoration (FDIR) of distribution systems with JADE platform in this thesis. Remote terminal unit (RTU) agents, main transformer (MTR) agents, feeder circuit breaker (FCB) agents, and feeder terminal unit (FTU) agents of the multiagent system (MAS) are proposed to derive a proper restoration plan after a faulted location has been identified and isolated. To ensure the fault restoration plan can comply with the operation regulation, heuristic rules based on the standard operation procedures of Taipower distribution system are included in the best first search of the MAS. For the fault contingency during summer peak season, the load shedding may be executed and the MAS are designed to restore service to as many key customers and loads as possible. The priority indices of each feeder and service zone are determined according to the key customers within the service territory. A Taipower distribution system with 43 feeders is selected for computer simulation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology in this thesis. It is found that the service restoration of distribution system can be obtained very efficiently by applying the proposed multiagent-based MAS.

Agent oriented fault detection, isolation and recovery and aspect-oriented plug-and-play tracking mechanism

Chen, Feilong 30 September 2004 (has links)
Fault detection, isolation, and recovery are some of the most critical activities in which astronauts and flight controllers participate. Recent systems to perform the FDIR activity lack portability and extensibility, and do not provide any explanation of the system's activity. In this research, we explore the use of an agent-oriented paradigm and Java technology for better performance of FDIR activity. Also, we have explored the use of explanation in agent-oriented systems, and designed a system-activity tracking mecha-nism that helps the user to understand the agents' behavior. We have explored different ways to generalize this mechanism for arbitrary agent systems to use. Furthermore, we studied mechanisms to automatically add the tracking mechanism to an existing agent system. By using AspectJ, an aspect-oriented tool, a plug-and-playable tracking system has been built that can add the capability to track the activity of the system to any JACK agent system easily. Our experience can help further research on using aspect-oriented tools with agent-oriented paradigms together to obtain better performance.

Méthodes de traitement innovantes pour les systèmes de commandes de vol / Innovative processing of anemometric and inertial data in the flight control systems

Cazes, Florian 28 March 2013 (has links)
From the 80’s to today, all AIRBUS civil aircraft are equipped with electrical flight control systems (EFCS). This technology now constitutes an industrial standard for commercial applications. This allows a more sophisticated aircraft control (advanced flight laws, more available autopilot...) and the setting up of specific protection functions of the flight enveloppe. In the framework of a global aircraft optimisation, for future and upcoming programs, current research efforts are dedicated to a more easy-to-handle aircraft, more efficient and so on more environmentally-friendly, resulting in augmented EFCS availability. The industrial state of practice, for all aircraft manufacturers, is to develop high levels of hardware redundancy (more dissimilar sensors for instance). Therefore several sensors (for instance three angle of attack probes, three pitot probes) provide flight parameter measurements which are necessary for the computation of the flight laws, as an example. For each of these measurements, a choice or computation is performed to provide a unique and valid value among the redundant sensors. In parallel, a monitoring is done to discard a measure in case of a failure. Both processes are called « consolidation ». The aim of the Ph.D. is to provide new detection strategies to detect a failure on each sensor (monosensor monitoring) and then to design new data fusion methods to act as the actual « consolidation » process. The main idea proposes to create « software » sensors which actually are flight parameter estimators (measured by external sensors) created thanks to other dissimilar flight parameters (in our case inertial parameters, measured by inner sensors, from a different technology). The partial least squares regression (PLS) is used to perform this estimation. Detection strategies and fusion methods are following from its properties.
