_______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / The notion of “trunk” [tronco] among Terena Indians brings up a wide number of possibilities. To the purposes of this work, I chose to reflect about them. The dissertation results, therefore, of an intermittent ethnographical research, started in 2009, with interlocutors from hamlets located at the “Terra Indígena Cachoeirinha” (located in Miranda-MS) and from the urban hamlet “Marçal de Souza” (located in Campo Grande-MS), and portrays what I have learned with them. Thus, the revelation of the category Xuve Ko’Ovokuti (“family/household trunk”), and its developments, was explored in order to think possible interconexions between family, history and flow of people. In that sense, social relations, memory and movement are exposed here as processes mediated by the language of the land. Aiming to emphasize the path of this learning process, the argument was structured in three parts: an ethnobiography of Mister Calixto Francelino; the history and the relations which are present in the “time of the ancients” and in the “nowadays”; the trunks, roots and seeds from the viewpoint of socialities among the hamlet. I believe that the reflection on the Xuve in the way as it is being proposed here may interest scholars who dedicate their work to this particular indigenous people, as well as those engaged in thinking other possible forms of being related.
