Indicadores de desempenho na gestão estratégica hoteleira familiar com base no estudo de quatro organizações da região turística da serra gaúcha

Bittencourt, Rafael Sortica de 24 August 2011 (has links)
Submitted by Marcelo Teixeira (mvteixeira@ucs.br) on 2014-06-05T18:41:42Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Dissertacao Rafael Sortica de Bittencourt.pdf: 748729 bytes, checksum: bdddde893d1b167e11b7c13f4b811a40 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2014-06-05T18:41:42Z (GMT). A contextually appropriate protocol in social work for the assessment of prospective foster parents in South Africa

Carter, Juliet Belinda 18 June 2013 (has links)
M.A. (Social Work) / This study serves to provide social workers in foster care practice in South Africa with a social technology innovation that is: Contextually appropriate Grounded in theory and User friendly. Social workers in South Africa do not have access to a set of standardised assessment criteria with which to assess prospective foster parents, and yet there are over half a million children in the foster care system in South Africa. Consequently, the research goal of this study is to design and develop a contextually appropriate protocol in social work for the assessment of prospective foster parents in South Africa. In order to achieve this, a number of objectives are linked to this goal: 1. To conduct a literature study for the identification of the dimensions (assessment) areas of the protocol. 2. To design a theoretically grounded model of the competencies of effective foster parents in South Africa. 3. To develop a professional social work protocol with which to assess the competencies of prospective foster parents. 4. To conduct focus groups and Delphi cycles to improve the face validity and content validity of the protocol. Developmental research methodologies were used to design the protocol. In the process of using the DR&U model (Thomas, 1984), a further outcome of the study is the development of a research method for the development of a contextually appropriate protocol in social work. The study comprises two stages: Stage 1 entails the design of a model of the competencies of effective foster families (determining “what” constitutes a good foster parent and developing a model of the ideal foster parents). The dimensions or assessment areas of the protocol are identified by means of a detailed literature study. Data obtained from the literature study is integrated with the outcomes of two Nominal Group Techniques and a Delphi Technique. This is to ensure user participation and to contextualise the model and protocol. Stage 2 entails the design and development (to a limited degree) of an assessment protocol with which to assess prospective foster families (specifying “how” one determines if foster parents meet the criteria of the ideal foster parents in the model designed in Stage 1). The conceptual framework of a model of the assessment of prospective parents is refined through a workshop and Delphi Technique with foster parents and social workers. This is to ensure a measure face validity and the adequacy of the protocol. This study concludes with an evaluation of the outcomes of the study, as well as the research method used to develop the model and the protocol. The model and the protocol are attached to this study.

Parent/Professional Perceptions of Collaboration When Viewed in the Context of Virginia's Comprehensive Services Act System of Care

Tannenbaum, Lloyd Gordon 20 December 2001 (has links)
In 1992,Virginia created a system of care that was designed to address the needs of troubled youth and their families. Known as the Comprehensive Services Act, the legislation mandated that family and service system interactions were intended to be child-centered, family-focused, and collaborative in nature. Whether at the assessment, planning, implementation, or evaluation phase of a family's individualized service plan unfolding, strong collaborative linkages between families and professionals were encouraged. The present study focuses on determining perceptions of collaborative experiences from the point of view of parents of emotionally disturbed children who have been served by the system of care's Family Assessment and Planning Team, and the perceptions of experiences of professionals who comprise that team. In addition, the study will attempt to show a relationship between a parent's collaborative experiences and a child's treatment outcome. Data suggest that differences exist between parents and professionals in their perceptions of collaborative experiences during the FAPT process, and that the group to which one belongs is a determining factor in shaping those perceptions. Secondly, no statistically significant relationship was found between parent perceptions of collaborative experiences and treatment outcomes of their children. Autism and family functioning: The role of parental coping

Vargas, Liliana 01 January 2006 (has links)
The present study employed a family systems approach to investigate the effects of level of autism severity on family functioning as mediated by parental coping. Participants were mothers of children with autism who were volunteers in an ongoing research program conducted within a university-based treatment center (N=146). Gilliam Autism Rating Scale, Second Edition (GARS-2) scores were available for all of the children and, as part of the broader program, parents completed the Coping Scale for Adults, which assesses a range of coping styles, and the Family Environment Scale, which provides positive and negative indicators of family functioning. Data analyses indicated that nonproductive coping significantly mediated the relationship between level of autism severity and family cohesion and conflict. Results also suggested that level of autism severity was negatively related to family conflict. The study further examined the use of specific coping styles on family cohesion and conflict. Evaluation of findings suggest that parents who have a child diagnosed with severe autism may be employing maladaptive coping strategies, such as wishful thinking, blaming one's self, or avoiding the situation. Implications for intervention approaches for individuals working with families of children with autism are suggested.

Family resiliency, family needs and community re-integration in persons with brain injury

Unknown Date (has links)
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a disability resulting in functional impairments and heightened dependence on others. Family members of persons with TBI can assume added responsibilities during the adjustment to the disability and rehabilitation process, placing strain on the family system. Community re-integration is a primary goal of the rehabilitation process for persons with TBI as this is a step in developing autonomy and promoting independence and productive activity throughout different areas of the person's life (e.g., work, social networks, and home life). This study was designed to examine predictors of community re-integration outcomes of TBI survivors and empirically test the resiliency model of family stress, adjustment, and adaptation while incorporating family needs by surveying caregiving family members. Specific aims of the study include validating relationships of the resiliency model with individual and family outcomes in adaptation and supporting future recommendations for healthcare providers working with families with members with TBI. / by Julianne Agonis. / Thesis (Ph.D.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2012. / Includes bibliography. / Electronic reproduction.
