A invasão italiana à Abissínia, realizada a partir de outubro de 1935, teve conseqüências drásticas para a política européia dos anos de 1930 e provocou um amplo movimento de opinião pública em nível mundial. Este trabalho trata das repercussões que a Guerra da Etiópia teve nos meios intelectuais do Rio Grande do Sul. Para tanto, optou-se por focalizar o estudo de tais repercussões em dois grupos específicos da intelectualidade gaúcha: as elites letradas da capital e os operários negros de Pelotas, responsáveis pela edição do semanário A Alvorada. Partindo principalmente da análise de artigos veiculados na imprensa do estado, o estudo se deteve sobre os debates travados por estes grupos intelectuais em torno da guerra africana, avaliando os respectivos posicionamentos e relacionando-os com o contexto político e social brasileiro e riograndense do período. / The accomplished Italian invasion to Abyssinia that started in October of 1935, had drastic consequences for the European politics in the 1930's and it provoked a wide movement of public opinion in world level. This work treats about the repercussions that the War of Ethiopia had in the intellectual ways of Rio Grande do Sul. For so, opted to focus the study of such repercussions in two specific groups of the gaucho's intellectuality: the learned elites of the capital and the black workers of Pelotas, responsible for publishing the weekly newspaper A Alvorada. On primarily basis of the analysis of articles conveyed in the press of state, the study reflected on the debates held by these intellectual groups around the African War, evaluating their positions and relating them with the Brazilian and riograndense political and social context period.
