M.Cur. / The intensive care nurse is lawfully required to maintain the nutrition of patients in the intensive care unit with which she is concerned, This includes the assessment of the nutritional status, planning and implementation of the nutritional regimen, as well as evaluation of the effect of nutritional support on the patient. Recording of this information is an important part of the abovementioned processes. Through the correct and scientific administering of nutritional support, as well as co-operation by the members of the nutritional support.team, aid the intensive care nurse in restoring, maintaining and promoting the patient's health. The intensive care nurse hereby facilitates the patient's aim to be healthy. The purpose of this study is: to determine the involvement of the nutritional support team with regard to the nutritional regimens of patients in surgical intensive care units; - to evaluate existing individual nutritional regimens of patients in the concerned intensive care units, and to establish guidelines for the nurse in intensive care units, regarding the administering of nutrition to the surgical patient. An exploratory-descriptive research design in questioning and retrospective auditing, is used. by means of one structured audit form. The results indicate the following: which use is made of Auditing has taken place - the involvement of the members of the nutritional support team, especially the dietician who should play an important role in the nutritional support of patients in surgical intensive care units, is inadequate; - the steps in the process of nutritional support, namely assessment of the nutritional status and planning of nutritional regimens achieved a low percentage of entirety. Implementation achieved a high percentage, but it was the complete execution of nutritional regimens that was inadequately planned. Thesis (M.Dev.) --University of Limpopo, 2009 / Food insecurity is one of the most important development challenges in Ethiopia.
To reduce food insecurity, the current government has adopted various policies.
Amongst policies employed by the government are, namely: Agricultural
Development Led Industrialization (ADLI) of 1995, which focus on national level;
and the Food Security Strategy (FSS) which gives emphasis to household food
security. As partner in development process, the Kale Heywet Church
Development Program (KHCDP) has been implementing development projects in
Southern Ethiopia to improve household food security.
In this study, an attempt is made to assess the role of Kale KHCDP on household
food security in southern Ethiopia. The study used both quantitative and
qualitative methods to collect data from 109 sample households in Baso and
Kuto Peasant Associations (PAs) of the Kucha District in Southern Ethiopia.
More specifically, household questionnaire, focus groups, and individual or key
informant interviews were applied to gather primary data from the field. The study
also used secondary sources to review relevant information.
The study found that KHCDP has played a critical role in promoting household
food security by implementing different strategies to increase food production
and income. The study, however, pointed out that KHCDP household food
security strategies are weak in terms of creating access to inputs and
technologies; promoting water resource utilizations; and providing extension and
follow-up support. The study also identified low level of household participation
and risks in long-term sustainability of food security interventions. Therefore, this
study suggests that KHCDP needs to review its strategies and extension
approaches.

Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Indianapolis is considered by many a competitive, large population city with incredible resources for business conferences and event tourism. The city’s flagship event, The Indianapolis 500, has paved the way for the city’s success. With initiative, planning, construction, and implementation the city’s tourism prowess has grown over the past three decades. Indianapolis has become host to a plethora of mid-size and large conferences every year, a regular on the host circuit for the NCAA Final Four, host of the annual Big Ten basketball tournament and most recently the host of the 2012 Super Bowl. Indianapolis continuously attempts to bring in more events every year.
Not many residents get to see, or are even aware of, the associates busy at work attempting to fill hotel rooms, conference centers and stadiums. The Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) of the city are constantly working and tweaking strategies to increase exposure and get tourists excited about visiting Indianapolis. However, it is difficult to identify what truly separates Indianapolis as a tourist destination from any other competitive, second-tier population, landlocked city. Centrality within the country and the tourism infrastructure may be argued, but a representative from nearly any city in competition with Indianapolis may make a counterpoint to most resources. Instead of running in circles with this argument, this thesis looks to probe into a resource for Indianapolis that could be turned into a strong marketing tool for tourism: its employees. The overall purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of resident contact employees in the food service and lodging industries concerning Indianapolis’ tourism attributes, and their relation to Indianapolis’ destination marketing and managerial strategies.
