Reconstructing multicultural counselling competency : construct explication approachMinami, Masahiro 05 1900 (has links)
This conceptual study aimed at refining the conceptual rigor of D. W. Sue’s
tricomponential model of multicultural counselling competency, and enhancing with an
addition of new attitude component. This study anchored its theoretical basis on a
concept of nomological network (Cronbach & Meehi, 1955). Construct explication
approach (Murphy & Davidshofer, 1998) was taken to develop full explication of four
componential model of MCC, containing attitude-awareness-knowledge-skills
components. Comprehensive literature review was conducted in the area of multicultural
counselling competency to develop working definitions of awareness-knowledge-skills
component. Another review was conducted to develop a working definition and a
conceptual model of attitude. Under the four-componential framework, a total of 284
characteristic descriptions previously developed under the tricomponential model were
conceptually re-examined and re-categorized. Result of the analyses revealed a total of 13
subcategories under the four components. Full construct explication of the four
componential model was developed. Research implications of the new model to MCC
measurement studies and practical applications to training models will be discussed.

Discerning activity areas in domestic space : a model for the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age LevantTheoret, Lorraine 31 January 2011 (has links)
The question of cultural continuity or the appearance of a new culture in the Levant in the period from the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age has been strongly debated in Near Eastern studies. Proponents of cultural change argue that a new type of building, the four-room house is a strong indicator of a new population moving in, despite compelling evidence that this type of house had precedents in earlier periods.<p>
A more productive approach to the issue of cultural change or continuity lies in the examination of not only the physical structures, but also the use of space within them, since the organization of domestic activity is at a basic level culturally determined. This study proposes a method for such examination, through the creation of a typology of rooms and the analysis of the distribution of artefacts and installations within different types of space to determine probable activities within a sample of houses from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages. By comparing and contrasting uses of space in Late Bronze and Early Iron Age domestic structures, one should be able to add to the lines of evidence for determining whether or not there was cultural continuity in the transitional period from the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age. The outcomes of this study pointed to cultural continuity.

D. Shostakovich: Twenty-Four PreludesShun, Wen-chii 24 June 2004 (has links)
Dmitry Shostakovich was an important Russia composer and pianist in the 20th century. In compare the quantity of his complete outputs, the numbers of the solo piano pieces was a small amount, but the use of the piano instrument occupies a major part within his compositions. For instance, Shostakovich employs piano in his symphonies, nos. 1, 5, and 7. Moreover, he also wrote many chamber music works with piano, and two piano concertos.
The study of the lecture recital document focus on the discussion of Shostakovich early piano composition, Twenty-Four Preludes, op. 34, written between 1932 and 1933. In addition to the introduction, the discussion includes: the historical background of Russian music of early and middle twentieth century, the life of Shostakovich, the brief of the development of the prelude, the writing techniques, performance techniques, and the interpretation of Twenty-Four Preludes. Twenty-Four Preludes does not only present the previous traditions of stylistic features, but also permeated with the spirit of innovation.

Higher order corrections to multijet production in e(^+)e(^-) annihilationCampbell, John M. January 1998 (has links)
The analysis of hadronic events in high-energy electron-positron annihilation often relies upon the clustering of individual hadrons into energetic jets. By solving our theory of strong interactions, Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) perturbatively, we may make theoretical predictions for these multijet configurations. In this thesis we provide some calculational tools which are useful for evaluating terms in the perturbative series beyond leading order. These include a convenient method of dealing with one-loop integrals containing tensor denominators and universal factorization formulae for matrix elements where two particles are unresolved, which are relevant at the 2-loop (next-to-next-to-leading order) level. In particular we concentrate on the case of the next-to-leading order corrections to 4 jet production (and related processes) and apply . our techniques to obtain explicit results in electron-positron annihilation which are then compared with experimental data.
