The aim of this study is to compare the French concessive connectors "pourtant", "cependant", "quand même", "tout de même", "néanmoins" and "toutefois" with a group of Swedish concessive counterparts, namely "ändå", "i alla fall", "dock" and "emellertid". The analysis is based on a translation corpus comprising nine French novels and nine Swedish novels and their translations into Swedish and French, respectively. All the novels were published between 1992 and 2000. It is argued that by contrasting the French concessive connectors with a corresponding set of Swedish connectors, new insights can be gained which are difficult to obtain by a monolingual approach. Although the main focus of the study is on the French connectors, the study is also meant to improve our understanding of the Swedish concessive connectors. Part 1 of the study presents an outline of the theoretical framework. First of all, a tertium comparationis or common denominator is defined for all the connectors. The tertium comparationis is then used as a basic function in the descriptive model applied in the analysis of the connectors. The descriptive model is divided into three levels of discourse: the propositional, the textual and the interpersonal level. The basic function belongs to the propositional level and can be described as a concessive relation between propositional contents (e.g. "Il pleut". "Pourtant il sort"). At the textual level, the connectors establish a relation between adjacent speech acts (e.g. "Je sais bien qu’il pleut, mais sortez quand même") or between thematic segments. Finally, the relations on the interpersonal level concern the communicative situation and the attitudes of the interlocutors (e.g. "C’est quand même bizarre"). Part 2 of the study is concerned with the description of the functions and individual features of the French connectors, while part 3 deals with the Swedish counterparts. All the analyses are organised in the same way, beginning with a presentation of prior work followed by a contrastive analysis of the examples drawn from the French-Swedish corpus, going from source text to translation. The final part of the study (part 4) comprises bidirectional analyses of the French and Swedish connectors. This means that the connectors are analysed in both directions simultaneously, from original text to translation and from translation to original text.

<p>Uppsatsen behandlar om och på vilket sätt det faktum att franska talas i fler länder än Frankrike är uppmärksammat i kursplaner och textböcker i franska för gymnasiet. Jag har i detta sammanhang använt termen la francophonie för att beteckna franska talad utanför Frankrike, trots att Frankrike egentligen ingår i detta begrepp.</p><p>Vad det gäller kursplaner kan jag konstatera att de är mycket vagt formulerade, men att det är tydligt att man vill att eleverna skall lära sig om de kulturer och länder i vilka franskan förekommer. Eftersom läroböcker kan ses som en form av konkretisering av kursmålen har jag studerat tolv av dem för att se hur la francophonie behandlas i dem. Jag studerade hur många texter i läroböckerna som behandlar la francophonie, men även på vilket sätt texterna är formulerade. Det visade sig att de flesta böckerna innehöll texter som direkt eller indirekt behandlar franskan som ett globalt fenomen. Det var också tydligt att de flesta texterna gick bortom nationella klichéer för att istället fokusera på individers erfarenheter, något som är nödvändigt eftersom nationella identiteter bara är sociala konstruktioner. Det framkom även att de äldre läroböckerna hade ett mer eurocentriskt perspektiv, medan de nyare lät personer från till exempel le Maghreb komma till tals direkt. Många texter behandlade även de problem och möjligheter som skapas av det faktum att fler och fler personer befinner sig mellan flera kulturer.</p>

<p>Denna studie fokuserar på bedömningen av muntlig kommunikation, steg tre i franska. Syftet är att analysera två lärares bedömning av muntlig produktion och jämföra resultatet med Skolverkets riktlinjer, som kommer till uttryck genom ett modelltest för nationella prov i muntlig språkfärdighet. Enligt dessa riktlinjer skall man vid betygsättning väga in både språklig korrekthet och förmåga till interaktion.</p><p>Analysen av Skolverkets panel visar två saker :</p><p>• Bedömningen berör i huvudsak två områden: interaktion och språklig korrekthet.</p><p>• Skolverkets panel har, naturligt nog, aktualiserat kursplanens kriterier och lagt störst vikt vid förmågan till interaktion.</p><p>Denna analys av paneldiskussionen har sedan använts för att kategorisera mitt empiriska material enligt samma kategorier. Mina frågeställningar är följande:</p><p>1. Vilka bedömningskriterier är de viktigaste för lärarna ?</p><p>2. Förekommer det några skillnader mellan lärarnas sätt att resonera eller mellan direktiven och lärarnas bedömning?</p><p>Studien visar att de aktiva lärarna, tvärtemot Skolverkets riktlinjer, lade störst vikt vid språklig korrekthet.</p>

<p>The aim of this paper is to determine what kind of modifications of the French management style a french expatriated manager has to implement within his company when arriving in Sweden. The purpose is to analyze which role the culture plays in the interactions between the French manager and his Swedish employees. The paper is based on theories of intercultural management established by professor Hofstede but also on more recent studies on the particularities of Swedish management such as the constant seek to attain consensus and to manage by objectives. Other theories conserning french managment style and the intercultural manager have also been used. A deep qualitative study has been effected via interviews with French professionals working in Sweden. It has made it possible to understand which kind of changes in management style that had to be carried through by these expatriated managers in order to better manage in Sweden. The conclusion that has been drawn is that they had to adapt their French management style and in certain ways put in place a more Swedish leadership to better lead the French company in Sweden: the managment became a mix of a French and a Swedish style.</p>
