Studien syftar till att skapa förståelse för hur frilansande projektledare i eventbranschen upplever sin yrkesroll i gigekonomi.  För att undersöka studiens syfte så har tre forskningsfrågor tagits fram Varför väljer projektledare att jobba som egenföretagare i eventbranschen? Vilka utmaningar finns i yrkesrollen? Vilka framgångsfaktorer identifierar frilansande projektledare i sin yrkesroll? För att besvara forskningsfrågorna har en kvalitativ metod i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer använts. Då ämnet gigekonomi är ett fortsatt outforskat ämne och studiens efterfrågar respondenternas upplevelse av sin yrkesroll har en induktiv ansats använts vilket menas att de slutsatser som genererats i studien har baserats på datainsamlingen som gjorts. Studiens respondenter jobbar alla som frilansande projektledare inom evenemangsbranschen. Totalt genomfördes åtta intervjuer med projektledare som jobbat allt från 1månad till 40år som egenföretagare i branschen. Resultatet visar på att huvudanledningarna till att jobba i evenemangsbranschen tycks vara glädje, att få känna det själv men också få ge det till andra. Friheten och flexibiliteten att kunna få bestämma själv visar sig vara drivkraften till att jobba som egenföretagare. Upplevelser angående de utmaningar som påvisats grundas i jobbet med olika människor, förståelsen hos andra för att yrkesrollen är viktigt och oron för att bli sjuk och frånvarande en period. Slutligen presenteras olika framgångsfaktorer som de frilansande projektledarna identifierat i sin yrkesroll. Resultatet av studien skapar en bild över hur dagens projektledare upplever sitt yrke och kan komma att spela roll för framtidens projektledare om gigekonomin fortsätter öka i samma takt som idag så kommer fler att arbeta som frilansande projektledare. / The study aims to create an understanding of how freelance project managers in the event industry experience their professional role in the gig economics. To investigate the purpose of the study, three research questions have been developed Why do project managers choose to work as self-employed in the event industry? What are the challenges in the professional role? What factors of success do freelance project managers identify in their professional role? In order to answer the research questions, a qualitative method in the form of semi-structured interviews has been used. Since the subject of the gig economy is still an unexplored subject and the study's demand for respondents' experience of their professional role, an inductive approach has been used, which means that the conclusions generated in the study have been based on the data collection that has been done. All respondents in this study work as freelance project managers in the event industry. In total, eight interviews were conducted with project managers who worked from 1 month to 40 years as self-employed in the industry. The result shows that the main reasons for working in the event industry seem to be joy, to feel it yourself, but also to give it to others. The freedom and flexibility to be able to decide for yourself are proving to be the driving force for working as a self-employed person. Experiences regarding the challenges that have been demonstrated are based on the work with different people, the understanding of others that the professional role is important and concern about getting health problems and be absent for a period. Finally, various factors of success are presented in which the freelance project managers identified in their professional role. The result of the study creates a picture of how today's project managers experience their profession and may play a role for the future project manager if the gig economy continues to increase at the same rate as today, and more will work as a freelance project manager.
