STUDIES IN COMPACT EM GENERATORS FOR FUZE APPLICATIONS

Hooks, Clayton A. 01 December 2013 (has links)
For artillery and medium caliber munitions utilizing electronic fuze assemblies, numerous methods exist for collection or generation of the electrical energy required to power the fuze during flight. One general method of harvesting energy from the launch event is to employ the inertia of a movable generator component to effect a change in an electrically-coupled magnetic circuit. This paper describes methods of parameter selection and model-based design for the development of a switched-flux linear electric generator (LEG) of desired characteristics. Specifically, the tasks entailed development of a dynamic model for system-level simulation and the estimation of device flux and inductance profiles from finite element models for selected material characteristics. Single-magnet and dual-magnet designs, respectively capable of unipolar or bipolar flux operation were investigated. An experimental variant of the final dual-magnet LEG design was fabricated and analyzed. Recommendations for future design tasks are discussed. Also included is a brief overview of an inertial generator concept based on the angular acceleration of a magnetic rotor. A simple example of such a transverse-flux alternator is included and analyzed with discussion of the challenges facing further design.

Integrácia ICT v procese fúzií a akvizícií / ICT integretion in mergers and acquisitions

Sarnovský, Martin January 2010 (has links)
This thesis describes subject of mergers and acquisitions with aim on information and communication technologies integration process. The first part contains general mergers and acquisitions classification and definition as well as its market development over time period extended with practical experiences. Second part is about ICT integration issues in M&A process including attitudes of various literature authors and experts. The goal of the thesis is to theoretically specify the subject of mergers and acquisitions including valuation. In addition my goal is to synthetize knowledge and best practices in the process of ICT integration as well as in the merger process itself. Main contribution is to synthetize experience from past contracts and research the role of ICT in integration process. Main reason for it was that despite information age we live in, technological aspect in M&A is often underestimated aside from crucial impact which it has on success of whole process.

Test method for high acceleration : A concept study of methods for testing electrical and mechanical components under high loads / Provmetod för hög accelerationstestning : En konceptstudie av testmetoder för elektriska och mekaniska komponenter som utsätts för höga påkänningar

Fenelius, Jonathan January 2019 (has links)
This thesis objective is to present a suitable high acceleration test method for SAAB Dynamics. SAAB is in need for an easy to use and cheaper way to test components such as the fuze and electrical components embedded in the fuze system. SAAB Dynamics develops ground combat weapon systems for the global market as well as civilian products. Products produced by SAAB are being used in armed combat, making this thesis project somewhat controversial. However, the concept produced by this work can be used in civilian applications such as aeronautics, space and material science. This thesis focused on using systematical methods and research to gain as much knowledge about the needs and demands of the customer, in this thesis SAAB. The project presents its own concepts as a valid option instead of buying one from a supplier. The concept is based on the needs of SAAB and is generated through creative brainstorming sessions and a morphological matrix. The concept was benchmarked together with similar test methods and test benches on the market. In order to be able to present a suitable concept the project conducted a large feasibility study of the fuze system and the products in need of testing as well as how other industries test similar acceleration and impacts. The concept consists of a high-grade industrial compressor in order to generate high air pressure inside a pressure chamber. The built up pressure breaks a sensitive disc and releases the air into the launch chamber. In the launch chamber, the projectile accelerates through a rifled pipe and then travels freely in a wider pipe. The projectile then deaccelerates when impact occurs with an energy absorption material such as aluminum honeycomb or foam.

Precise Height Estimation By Differential Amplitude Measurement For An Airborne Cw Doppler Proximity Sensor

Vural, Aydin 01 September 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Airborne CW doppler proximity sensors are very sensitive, but leaks precise height measurement. It may be possible to estimate the heigth at the terminal phase (the case where the sensor is at a heigth close to ground) precisely by using the doppler shift and amplitude information. The thesis includes this novel concept with theoritical analysis and simulation results.

Vplyv morálneho hazardu v súvislosti so svetovou krízou na fúzie a akvizície vo finančnom sektore / Impact of moral hazard in the context of the global crisis on mergers and acquisitions in the financial sector

Jackuliaková, Monika January 2013 (has links)
The main purpose of my final thesis is to present the development, function and real impact of moral hazard on the process of creating mergers and acquisitions (mainly in the banking sector) in the context of the financial crisis. I seek to analyse the acquisition process and the factors that affect it. Consequently, I focused on the synthesis of these factors, with emphasis on the role of moral hazard, which on the one hand acts as one of the potential culprits of the failure of markets, but on the other hand as the "driving force" for encouraging the creation of mergers and acquisitions in a financial crisis.

Voľba strategického partnera v procese cezhraničných fúzií a akvizícií / Choosing a strategic partner in the process of cross-border mergers and acquisitions

Gromadová, Lucia January 2014 (has links)
This master thesis is in its five chapters dealing with the issue of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, taking as its main objective to describe a process of acquiring one company by another - from the perspective of a foreign acquirer - with an emphasis on identifying key attributes of his decision and the main criteria for selecting the final acquisition target. The first chapter sets theoretical basis for the work and provides definition, classification and characterization of motives for the implementation of mergers and acquisitions. The second part enriches the thesis with the historical and current development of international acquisition activity. The third chapter chooses a strategic approach to M&A. The fourth part explaines the process side of these transactions. The final, fifth chapter follows up on the development in the CEE region and highlights the Czech Republic as a traditional acquisition target for foreign investors, assessing of areas that increase or decrease its attractiveness at once.

Postmerger financial performance: econometric analysis / Postmerger Financial Performance: Econometric Analysis

Volgina, Vera January 2009 (has links)
There are numerous researches done in the last couple decades dedicated to the observation of impact of merges and acquisitions on the performance of the company. The topic is considered to be up-to-date, as still there is no common approach to evaluating of benefits mergers are about to bring to a new established entity. In this thesis the issue of post-merger financial performance is investigated on an example of three biggest energy companies in Europe: RWE, E.ON and Vattenfall. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether financial performance of chosen companies improves after the merger occurs. This target is elaborated with a help of the analysis of commonly used financial ratios in corporate finance and construction of two regression models, which explain the interrelations between basic indicator of the company's growth (net income), the fact of the merger and determined financial ratios. As an outcome of the research, a few findings were obtained, such as worsening of financial performance three to five years after the merger, with continuing improvement in further years, quite stable financial indicators before the merger, positive interconnection between the fact of the merger and the net income. Such outcomes might be considered as significant, though further research and elaboration of the topic can be performed in the future.

Studium membránových interakcí pomocí pokročilých fluorescenčních technik: Od iontů k makromolekulám / Membrane interactions studied by advanced fluorescent techniques: From ions to macromolecules

Pokorná, Šárka January 2016 (has links)
Advanced fluorescence techniques were used to explore tree distinct topics concerning biological membrane and their interactions. Following thesis is according to the topic divided into three parts: 1) Ionic effects were studied employing time dependent fluorescence shift experiments and molecular dynamic simulations. Combination of these two approaches are suitable to reveal characteristic like mobility and hydration of particular bilayer segment, lipid packing or ion binding sites. Halide anions were reported to adsorb to the cationic lipid bilayer specifically, altering membrane mobility and organization. Changes in observed parameters follows Hofmeister order. Their effect is mediated either by direct ionic interaction (soft, polarizable ions) as well as via alteration of water structure (hard, non-polarizable ions) in proximity of ion molecule. Further, divalent calcium was shown to bind strongly to neutral and negatively charged lipid bilayers. Several types of binding sites depending on calcium concentration were identified. 2) Two complementary lipopeptides, CPK and CPE, incorporated into distinct lipid bilayers serve as a minimal model inducing membrane fusion. Effectiveness of fusion event might be influenced by lipopeptide-membrane and lipopeptide-lipopeptide interaction. To reveal...
