Evaluation of CPU and  Memory performance between Object-oriented Design and Data-oriented Design in Mobile games

Eriksson, Björn, Tatarian, Maria January 2021 (has links)
The popularity that mobile games gained recently gives the opportunity to develop more mobile games. Limited by the scarce resources on mobile phones, developing good games becomes critical and requires special optimization while choosing the design approach.   Object-oriented Design (OOD) and Data-oriented Design (DOD) are two programming paradigms that have different ways of defining and structuring data. The purpose of this student thesis is to investigate the CPU and Memory performance differences between the two approaches.   To answer the research questions an experiment is conducted where two identical mobile games are built, one according to OOD and the other to DOD to collect empirical quantitative data and compare the results. The study limits the scope by  running the games on Android mobile phones.   The results of comparing the CPU Usage show significant differences especially when the amount of data is large. For instance, in the DOD version of the game, the CPU spends 20.9% of the time on updating data, while it spends 69.2% of the time on the same action in the OOD version of the game. No significant differences are observed regarding the total Memory allocated for the games in both versions. It can therefore be concluded that when the number of objects/data is big, a more optimized code should be written following the Data oriented Design approach with regard to better CPU and Memory Usage and    better game performance.

Title: The degree of influence of fitness skills on the game performance of football players aged 15-16. Objectives: Determine the degree of influence of fitness indicators on the game performance of football players (categories U17 and U16). It has been evaluated based on a questionnaire for the coaches. At the same time, the aim is to find out possible differences in fitness indicators between the categories of players U17 and U16 and possible relationships between individual fitness indicators. Methods: The research group included elite players in the U16 (15.27 ± 0.27) and U17 (16 ± 0.38) categories from the FK Dukla Praha club (n = 40). A questionnaire survey and performance measurement using a test battery were chosen as the research methods. The set of tests for evaluating fitness performance included a sprint for 5 m, 10 m and 20 m, agility test 505L and 505P, K-test and test for measuring the strength of the ending with the dominant and non-dominant foot. The questionnaire survey for the head coaches of the categories included 17 closed questions, which were answered using a 7- point rating scale. Results: For performances in fitness tests, there was always a materially significant difference in at least one category between the best and worst rated members in the sprint at 5 meters (g =...

The level of specific football skills was evaluated with slalom tests and Loughborough Soccer Passing test. The fitness level was measured with linear runs (10 and 20 meters), standing long jump, agility and yo-yo intermittent test. Subjective player rating of their performance was measured using a scale questionnaire for coaches. Results: Performance groups "above-average" and "average" showed a great difference in technical skills in comparison to the performance group "below-average". This was not confirmed in terms of fitness. The results in 10m sprint test, 20m sprint test and agility test were comparable. There was no confirmed difference on the team level in technical skills or fitness between the First Team and the Future team. Conclusion: The questionnaire for coaches...

Farkaš, Matúš January 2017 (has links)
Title: Behavioural analysis of a football coach Objectives: The goal of this master thesis is to qualitatively evaluate means of didactic interaction of a football coach and his players in youth categories in two league games of the Czech Youth League (Česká liga žáků) and thereby to contribute to new knowledge in this field. Methods: The research is targeted at the behavioural analysis of a football coach. In this thesis methods of spectating and analysis of audio and video records were carried out. The essence of the research is based on the method of the Analysis of didactic interaction (ADI) consisting of 9 categories containing several subcategories. The categories 1 and 4, those which are dedicated to the forms of behaviour, were applied in this thesis. Results: From the results of the analysis it seems obvious that the coach was prevailingly relying on his speeches which he seldomly supported and emphasized with his movement. The movement itself we acknowledge as gestures linked to orders related to game activities during the football game. From the analyzed records of parts of the games the following can be concluded: In the pre-game preparations the instructions with corrections prevail, which is also the case during the game, where spectating is being present to a large extent as well. On...
