Experiments with Copper Sulphides at Elevated Temperatures.

Meikle, B.K. January 1959 (has links)
At the present time there are no theories of the formation of epigenetic sulphide deposits that are in agreement with chemical and physical facts, theory and experimental results, and which explain all of the field observations that have been made.

Experiments Bearing on the Genesis of Sulphide Deposits.

Macdougall, John F. January 1957 (has links)
The nature of the ore forming fluids has long been the foremost scientific problem confronting economic geologists. A study of the literature dealing with ore genesis reveals that there is no general agreement concerning their source, their physical character, their method of transport, and their manner of deposition to form ore deposits. Many of the theories are based upon deductive reasoning rather than experimental evidence.

the Geology of the Weedon Pyrite and Copper Corporation Ltd. Mine.

Buckley, Ronald A. January 1959 (has links)
The Weedon Pyrite and Copper Corporation Mine is located one mile north of the village of Fontainebleau, Wolfe County, Weedon Township of the Eastern Townships of Quebec Province. The Mine Property comprises of 10 claims in Ranges II and III. The nearest town is Weedon, four and a half miles to the west. The city of Sherbrooke is 39 miles south and Quebec is 99 miles to the north.

Geology of the Mount Reed Quadrangle Quebec.

MacKean, B.E. January 1960 (has links)
The Mount Reed quadrangle occupies 183 square miles in southern Quebec-Labrador. It is extensively covered by glacial drift and outwash with about 5 percent exposure. The ice sheet margin retreated northwards. The most extensive rock type is the biotite-quartz-oligoclase gneiss with garnetiferous and graphitic varieties. The gneiss consists of maficrich foliations of biotite and miner hornblende and felsicrich foliations of white quartz and oligoclase. [...]

Terrestrial Heat Flow in the St. Lawrence Lowland of Quebec.

Butler, Richard B. January 1961 (has links)
It was proposed to make an investigation of the terrestrial heat flow in the area about Montreal using boreholes drilled to explore for gas or oil. A fairly satisfactory D.C. thermistor bridge method of measuring temperatures at depth has been developed and three boreholes have been surveyed.

Peridotites of Northern Quebec and Ungava.

Findlay, D.C. January 1958 (has links)
The material presented in the body of this thesis is the result of petrographic and mineralographic studies carried out on specimens of peridotite and their associated rock types from various localities in Northern Quebec and Ungava. The major portion of the examination was of a petrographic nature, although a limited amount of polished section work was done on sulphide bearing specimens of ultrabasic rock from some of these same areas.

the Mineralogy of the New Brunswick Sulphide Deposits.

Benson, David G. January 1959 (has links)
The presence of sulphide mineralization in the Bathurst-Newcastle area of New Brunswick has been known since early in the nineteenth century. Lindeman (1917) discussed the iron ore deposits in the area and mentioned that pyrite was found along the footwall of one iron deposit. In later years sporadic work was carried out, but it was concerned mainly with the iron ore and regional mapping (Alcock 1941).

the Stratigraphy and Palaeontology of the Beekmantown Group in the St. Lawrence Lowlands, Quebec.

Byrne, Anthony W. January 1958 (has links)
In southern Quebec the Lower Ordovician or Beekmantown series consists of a thick sequence of dolomite beds with minor amounts of sandstone, limestone and shale. By comparison with Lower Ordovician strata elsewhere, the Beekmantown in southern Quebec is relatively unfossiliferous. As a result, interest in the group has been slight. This study is a dissertation on the stratigraphy and palaeontology of the Beekmantown group as exposed in the Quebec portion of the St. Lawrence Lowlands.

Ordovician Ostracoda from the St. Lawrence Lowlands of Quebec.

Carter, George F.E. January 1958 (has links)
This paper is mainly concerned with the description and illustration of ostracod species collected from Ordovician sediments of the St. Lawrence Lowlands, the determination of their stratigraphic ranges, and the methods used in preparing the specimens for examination, identification and photography. A brief outline of the stratigraphy, structure and economics of these Ordovician sediments is included to provide a background for the palaeontological portion of the paper. [...]

the Petrology of La Lievre Area Roberval County, Quebec.

Bray, J.V. January 1961 (has links)
The petrology of an ultrametamorphic complex is described. High-grade migmatitic plagioclase gneisses and amphibolites, with quartzites and metamorphic pyroxenites, were intruded sub-concordantly by gabbro. These older rocks were intruded by magmatic plutons of pyroxene-microperthite quartz-monzonite, with hornblende-microperthite quartz-monzonite and migmatitic microcline granite. Late basic sills and granite dykes occur.
