Performance measurements and analysis of the existing wireless communication technology in IraqAl-Hassani, Kassim Mohammed January 2013 (has links)
Iraq may be considered as the largest wireless market in the Gulf region. A key driving factor in the market of wireless communication, it has seen enormous growth in the mobile phone market over the last five years leading to almost 24 million subscribers in 2011. Moreover, there are several technologies and services working in Iraq; three GSM Operators, three CDMA national operators and three CDMA provinces operators. The recent growth in the mobile phone market is based on the Global System for Mobile (GSM) communications and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) standards creating the next-generation wireless technologies in the Iraqi Wireless Communication market. One of the essential issues of this research is to investigate the performance of the decreased Quality Of Service (QoS) caused by interferences in the services on GSM/CDMA operators in Iraq. Many issues should be studied and taken into consideration, such as; does the Multi-Coalition Forces cause the interferences, jamming, higher rate of calls drop and false ringing; or are they caused by bad design and planning? Do we need to optimise our network due to the large number of users? All these factors are investigated and the measurements of most service providers and government agencies will be gathered. A detailed analysis was included from the providers with measurements of performance and the reasons for the deterioration of wireless services. The novel contributions of this thesis is the extensive radio measurement campaign over the three mobile an CDMA operator networks and the analysis and recommendations that were drawn to suggest the best approach to improve the QoS of Wireless communication technologies. Awareness of actual reasons behind the deterioration of services will be raised to the Iraqi Government, CMC and the wireless service providers.

Objektų vietos nustatymo technologinių paklaidų įvertinimo sistema / System of evaluation of objects location uncertaintyButkus, Kazimieras 28 January 2008 (has links)
This work investigates problem of positioning calculation error in mobile cellular networks and provides means to evaluate the errors in variuos aspects. Evaluation results are presented as generated geographical maps and values. The positioning calculation error evaluation is then used to extract requirements for engineered system. System is engineered in a way that it is cellular technology independand and is not limited by generations or carrier technologies of particular investigated networks. Resulting system allows users to select geographical area and precision of analysis to be carried on positioning calculation error. Radio signal propagation and coverage estimation algorithms are used to interpret input data and GIS data is used together to provide visual interpretation for positioning calculation error. This system is beeing used in real word aplications. At the time the system is used in MSC MPS R5 LBS, MPS112 platforms, also in solution „Bitės tinklo padengimo žemėlapiai“. Solution is universal, it can be used in variuos commercial network planning and LBS platforms. The system is cellular network technology neutral and it will be possible to evaluate future cellular or wireless networks as well.

Design and implementation of the telecommunication and utility cable tamper monitoring systemMabadie, Patrick 11 April 2019 (has links)
M. Tech. (Department of Process Control and Computer Systems, Faculty of Engineering and Technology), Vaal University of Technology. / The telecommunication and utility cable monitoring system was implemented to protect the cable tampering. Cable tampering occurs despite the fact that methods have been developed, to solve and decrease cable tampering cases such as cable tampering prevention campaigns at the national and international level, organizing security patrols, replacing existing cable with fiber cables and I-Watch system installation. The objective of the research was to design and implement a cable tampering monitoring system which is able to monitor, detect, pinpoint the location and give the distance from the sensor at which the cable tampering took place. The system is an improvement on the traditional cable anti-theft monitoring system, the method of tracking resonance signal frequency was implemented. The system incorporates a sensing circuit which detects a change on the capacitance value of the cable and converts it into an equivalent frequency value, Field-Programable Gate Array (FPGA) board is utilized to convert the frequency into the cable length (the distance from sensor of cable which was taken away), after detecting an anomaly on the cable (tampered with) the output of the system is divided into two parts which are display mode and messaging mode. For display mode, the system uses a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) which displays the GPS Coordinates of the location where the cable tampering took place and the distance from sensor of the cable which has been tampered with. In the messaging mode, the FPGA activates the GSM module and the module sends alert flag message to the user when the cable is tampered with.
