La question de la réalisation de synthèses gnoséologiques chez Valéry, Borges et Calvino montre l'infini comme possible clé de lecture fédératrice de leurs textes, traduisant la démesure sur un plan poétique et esthétique. Sont ainsi comparés le Système valéryen, les différentes structures imaginaires borgésiennes (la Bibliothèque, le Livre, l'Aleph...) et les divers catalogues, collections et encyclopédies évoqués par Calvino. L'impossibilité ou l'inachèvement de toutes ces entreprises, donnant à considérer à la fois l'ambition qui les caractérise et les limites qu'elles imposent, mettront en évidence le jeu infini de l'écriture lié à l'infini processus de leur édification. Le vertige infini qui s'empare alors du lecteur caractérise l'oeuvre et renvoie à l'infini de la Littérature qui interroge le monde sans jamais pouvoir apporter de réponse complète. / Comparing some of Valéry's, Borges' and Calvino's texts, "the Infinite" appears as a possible common keyword for reading it, and enables to express the poetical and esthetical excessiveness of the different written works which consider the carrying out of gnoseological projects. We focus on the Valéry?s Cahiers, the various borgesian imaginary structures (as the Library, the Book, the Aleph,...) and the several Calvino's references to the catalogue, the collecting or the Encyclopedia themes. The features of those impossible or unfinished plans, showing their ambition and their limitations, bring out the never-ending of the writing, the infinite reader's dizzy vertigo given as a simultaneous quality of their works, and the infinite of the Literature, wondering about the meaning of the reality without never answering it completely.
